I don't use the word 'infidel' in the portrait title as some might interpret it. Actually it has nothing to do with religion, or Wizzu's lack of. It just fits him, to me, the term and feeling it elicits comes to mind when I envision him. It is a term of endearment for a friend and a very nice person.
I would paint Wizzu as a Wizard, immersed in the inner-workings of DALnet, his primary loves computers and DALnet, studying and experimenting with the alchemy of technical potions. His body is perpetually suspended .. feet never touching the floor. From time to time he looks up at the world around, then turns his attention back to the task at hand.
Wizz's official titles are DALnet IRC Operator (primary at xgw.dal.net), Glogal Kline Team Coordinator, User Documentation Team Leader, Help Committee Member, and a CSop, a member of the Coding Team, and he is a backup member of the Training Team. You can chat with him many times and never know any of this though, unless you ask him or need his help.
Wizzu is one of the few people I've met completely free of guile. No hidden meanings or motives to his words, nothing hidden behind his calm patient exterior but what you see. He does not practice deceit, even when it would be to his advantage. He is probably one of the most honest people you will meet. He is very comfortable with himself, not because he is arrogant or believes he is better than others, there just seems no need in him to be known as 'the best' or 'all knowing' or 'the smartest', though he is very inteligent and capable.
He is uncomplicated and straightforward. Dependable. Dedicated to DALnet.
Wizz's loyalty to his friends is surprising, refreshing, and heartwarming. I think it is one of his nicest traits and I admire him for having it. I find myself sometimes wishing I was more like him. He is that kind of person.
That he has spent years on DALnet IRC, dealing with people and situations of every kind without becoming a cynic is surprising also, as it seems to me cynicism is an occupational hazard that comes with a lot of time time on IRC, especially as an IRC OP. The words of a song come to mind, "Don't ever lose that light in your eyes."
I would paint Wizzu's portrait in dark and medium blues and several shades of grays with a touch of creams and gold. The light dim in his interior work space, eyes straining to perfect yet another DALnet document or formula. I would paint him in the traditional robe of Merlin, floating a foot or so above the floor, an aura of glowing soft light surrounding him that comes from within, a mark of his studious intelligence.
