POETRY BY SUNFIRE64
ALONE
A lone shadow walks along the sand,
outlined against the stars.
The bright full moon shines
through the thin, fast moving clouds.
The waves roll slowly, and a cool breeze blows
as the shadowed figure now sits
upon the loose warm sand,
and stares up at the stars
alone.
SEA-TURTLE
A tiny turtle
swimming on the sand
his flippers no match for the beach.
I picked him up
and placed him in the waves.
He swam as fast as he could
like a bird just learning to fly.
Safe now from gulls, scorching heat,
and crashing waves
SWINGING BRIDGE
Wanting to look down, I’m much to scared to stop
as the bridge sways gently with the wind.
I step onto the rocks and look over the edge,
the trees below me are splashed with fall colors.
Glass-smooth lakes, rippled rivers
and mountains stretch out below me,
along with hotels, condos and golf courses.
A raven shrieks as he flys overhead
as if scorning the tourists.
LOVE UNRETURNED
My mind is a stormy sea
with emotions violently crashing into one-another.
My attitude changes constantly and suddenly
like a falling leaf changes direction in the wind.
My heart is numb and distant
like a memory that evades me.
And time is slow and thick like mollasses
and every word she speaks to another
cuts my soul like a razor.
And she shrugs off my emotions as though they were
but a drop of rain, coldly and nonchalant.
