Twas the week before Christmas,
and all in the channel
Were decorating the club
and hanging socks by the mantle.
The fireplace was glowing
a fire warm and bright
To welcome our friends
that came by tonight.
Kubali brought out boxes
for us to go through
laying out the trimmings
there's so much to do.
Desmond came with our tree
why it must be 6 ft. tall
we helped him get it standing
to be admired by all.
Snacks were set out
christmas cookies and cake
coffee was put on
for those staying late.
CodyJ was the tallest
so he hung the mistletoe
just as ^Writer and Will40
decided to show
dopesick joined us
couldn't make it any faster
he's always so busy
as our Round Robin Master.
Vila dashed out
for a bottle of 'Irish Mist'
then sat under the mistletoe
hoping to get kissed!
^Hope^ flew in breathless
wearing her angel wings
she couldn't stay long
had to do other things.
New writers joined us
inkwell and Tibron
I began to think
this work would be fun!
Idiot was there
and stayed quiet a while
he didn't help much but
he made us all smile.
Vagen dropped by early
full of cheer
he went right to helping
with his usual flair.
Woodwitch and Alura
unpacked the angel of lace
Toll and BarelyBad
put the angel in place.
Silverwind came by
lighting up our eyes
spoke a word now and then
gave a few of his sighs.
Rani had to work
and came in late,
but she pitched right in
she couldn't wait.
and we had a surprise
for adverb, our friend
who was studying at uni
is back with us again.
Catta dropped in chatting
couldn't get her to shut-up
giving everyone *HUGS*,
and wishes of good luck.
Vonbek was happy
and telling his tale
of the novel he's writing
we know he'll do well.
Wizzu came in later
though he was quiet
he's checking out the web
and visiting our site.
Annette and Scriptress
both kept the chat going
MikeZ joined the club
the crowd was growing.
Nite_Riter was present
but didn't have much to say
I think he was writing
and had had a long day.
Capt Buell was here a while
and sent me a story
Sundown dropped in too
but was in a hurry.
Fingures brought eggnog
and spiked it with gin
glasses were filled joyfully
again and again.
TinaM said she'd help
as she picked up the bulbs,
it seemed everyone joined
to help decorate the club.
JDarksoul was bored
and played christmas songs
Brian_Starek suggested
that we all sing along.
I watched SpiritDeer
hanging silver and blue,
thinking that too soon
it would all be through.
Writer1 waved to us all
he couldn't help more
saying his goodbyes
as he went out the door.
mbartist was introduced
his first visit today.
we all gave a welcome
inviting him to stay.
While I hung the lights
and helped trim our tree
My heart was warmed
by those around me.
As we laughed and talked
and made our christmas plans
others stopped by the Writers Club
to lend us a hand.
The only person missing
we all noticed it too
