The Rabbit Analogy
Part One
I know I'm alone
and my body wanders, roams
my mind
travels far yet I remember nothing
and the hallways are all the same
like rabbit holes
there is life
but I can't get at it
do you know what it is like to want to be a rabbit?
Part Two
On rabbits
why must they be so glazy-eyed
why can they not be all perky ears
and attentive learning
that care and wonder
about all the things
rabbits normally don't bother with
simply, they stay in their communal holes
and propogate to cover the earth
with their ignorant madness
Part Three
now we're all big ears
and floppity looks
hip-hoppity ignorance
hide in our holes
wait for the sun to shine with our friends the sheep
before I look, negative thoughts
I close my ears to the sound of a raven
as it flies over me watching
yes, we're six-foot tall muscular rabbits
we defy nothing
