STUDIO REPORT

BAND: TYPE O NEGATIVE: Pete Steele (bass/vocals), Josh Silver (guitar), Kenny Hickey (guitar) and Johnny Kelly (drums)

STUDIO: System Two, Brooklyn, New York

ALBUM: 'October Rust', the follow-up to 1993's sizeable sleeper hit 'Bloody Kisses'. To be released in August on the Roadrunner label.

PRODUCER: 'October Rust' was produced by Pete Steele and Josh Silver

TRACKLISTING: Song titles for the new album include 'Duidess', 'Green Man', 'In Praise of Bacchus', 'Wolf Moon', 'Red Water', 'Love You to Death', 'Burnt Flowers', 'Haunted', 'My Girlfriend', plus a reworking of Neil Young's 'Cinnamon Girl'. 'Wolf Moon, Red Water' is the story of a man who transforms into a werewolf after giving head to his menstruating girlfriend.

PETE STEELE SAYS: "Obviously the conditions for us recording this album are very different from when we recorded 'Bloody Kisses'. If we were to allow it to bother us, then there would be a lot of more pressure on us - pressure from the record company after the success of the last record, pressure from the fans who expect a certain type of thing from us...
"Our aim for this album was not to bore the listener to death with endless repetition and that kind of thing. We wanted to come across as being a little more to the point, without sacrificing any of our sounds."

HAMMER VERDICT: One of the most keenly awaited albums of the season, 'October Rust' is sure not to disappoint. Displaying a sharper, deeper sound than 'Bloody Kisses', this is an album of fine and surpricing spngs and confident instrumentation that sounds at once both innoative and identifiable.
