I brought one of those single-use cameras along on my trip last week. I like them because they slip in a pocket easily and there's no need to worry about damage or loss of a good camera. So I finished the roll on Sunday and had it processed today... and here are a few pictures from it... Paulinee wrote about Rhode Island's many manifestations of Mr. Potato Head. Rhode Island (being the home of Hasbro Toys) is the home of Mr. Potato Head. Somehow a promotion got started this summer where a business or an organization could sponsor a themed Mr Potato Head, designed/decorated by local artists and displayed in public areas around the state. Two of them may be found at T.F.Greene airport (which, although it is in Warwick, is usually called "Providence" airport... its airport code is PVD)
This Mr. Potato Head -- "Vino deVine" represents the state's wine industry, thus the grape motif. (Yes, there are Rhode Island vineyards.) He is sponsored by Sakonnet Vineyards And this Mr Potato Head represents our many beaches... but I'm afraid I don't remember his name or who sponsored him. These two are at the airport but there are dozens more scattered about the state. (You can read more about them in this story on the Visit Rhode Island website.)
This is what OHare Airport (Chicago) looked like on Wednesday afternoon. Come to think of it, it looked somethink like that on Friday as well.
And this was taken Thursday night in Rochester at the Henry Wellington restaurant... the eight of us who had travelled to Minnesota for these meetings got together for dinner... That's me in the gray turtleneck, standing by the window. |
