embies' God FAQ

more than what you want to know about what we think.

Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on. ~Job 21:3

God? what God?

uh, that would be the Lord of my life, my one and only God, my trilogy of supporters, and my front man Jesus Christ.

you don't really believe those bible stories do you??? they seem so impossible.

yup! if i'm gonna believe that there is a devine creator in the universe, i'm not going to go passing judgement on what he can or cannot do. i doubt that there is anything that is beyond the guy.

but you don't think that i should read the Bible do you?

do you really care what i think you should do with your life?? if God says that Jesus is the only way to get to heaven, i'm not going to contradict him. i'm going to believe it. what you do is up to you. i wouldn't have written this page if i didn't have views, you don't have to follow them, but they are what i believe wholeheartedly

ok, well, what i mean is, you don't think that you need to read the bible to get to heaven do you? i mean, i love him, isn't that enough??

well, when i love people, i want to learn all that i possibly can about them. i love God, so i want to learn all that i possibly can about him. when i love someone, i also want to do things that make them happy. the bible says that i should put it into practice, and i can't do that unless i know what it says, to do that, i've got to read it. i don't know if you have to read the Bible to get to heaven, but i would never want to explain to the big guy why i never got around to it.

you're just using god as your crutch.

heh, you forgot to put your accusation in the form of a question, alex.

to answer, i think there probably are some people who fall to God because they can't face life. that ain't the worst thing, but it ain't me either. truth is, trying to live as God wants, is a lot harder than living how i want. (can i add some more bold to that statement??)

i do, however, rely on God for support at all times, and if that's what you mean by a crutch, then i guess you got me. (of course, this would mean that every single one of my friends is a crutch, but we won't get into the ramifications of that right now. ;) so, if i have the all powerful and eternal creator of the universe as my crutch, what do you have?

i've heard that religious people think that multiples are possesed by demons, you're multiple and religious. do you think that you're possesed by demons.

no.
i'm not possesed by demons, and neither are multiples. my church is also just fine with the fact that i'm multiple, and they haven't tried to exorcise me.

so what is your view of multiplicity as it pertains to God.

oh good, an easy question. being multiple was a gift that God gave me to help me deal with the abusive situations in my life. he made animals with camouflage to protect them, and his children are even more precious to him. he gave me a way out when i couldn't have lived. there is a passage in the Bible that says:

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
well, that goes for all kinds of situations. God does not give you more than you can handle, so for some people he spreads the trauma thinner so that we can deal with it in our own times. there is a time for everything, you know.

what's the deal with all those Bible translations?

mostly they seem to go along with different traditions and different churches. the original Bible was written to help people understand God and spread the good news about the Lord. all of the different Bibles say the same thing in almost exactly the same place, but most people don't understand the "thou musteth goeth thereth hence verily" language of the king james version. it seems to me, and a lot of other people, that this makes it a bit impractical. not wrong, just impractical. i personally use the new international version because that is what my church, the campus ministry of the international Churches of Christ, uses.

to demonstrate what i'm talking about, i took a passage out of Romans from both the king james version and the new international version, Romans 7:4 to be exact. this is just a random scripture, and i am certain that there are much better illustrations, but this one will do.

king james version

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
new international version
So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.

it's all confusing enough without having to pull out your olde english to english translator; but then again the king james version looks better in snippets for decoration. it's all you.

you can check out all the different versions online, to see more of what i am talking about.
