wanna learn how to make pretzels????
i knew ya did!!! ;)
to make the pretzels you need some stuff.
for the pretzels themselves you need:
- 3/4 cup of warm water
- 1 package activated dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 3 1/2 cup of flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
for the glaze you need:
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of water>
what you do is:
- you preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- you mix the yeast and the water.
- then you add the sugar.
- then you add the salt.
- then you add the flour a little at a time.
- then you kneed the dough (this is where you stress buckets can have some fun, cuz the pretzels come out just fine if they get punched and smacked around some. ;)
- then you split it in half.
- and in half again. (you should have four.)
- and each quarter into three parts. (you with me still??? now you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...... a lot of pieces. ;)
- this is the fun part!!!! you make pretzel shapes. ;)
- now remember the glaze i forgot to tell you to make??? well make that and mix it up good. paint it on the top of the pretzels so that they will be golden brown. (you did put them on a greased cookie sheet didn't you???)
- now you sprinkle salt on them and put them in the oven for about 8-12 minutes. keep checking them, because ovens cook things really fast at 425 degees. :)
when you are done making them you should eat them.
they will be hot, so you must be careful, but they will look soo good that you will not be able to resist. :) they are most yummy when they are warm.
now you see why i am not a cookbook writer, but these are fun things to do for both bigs and littles. tweens can probably do it without too much assistance.
