Coincidence, my friends, is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe. Many will think of coincidence as more or less the opposite of what it truly is- they'll think two or more things that seem related but actually aren't, are a coincidence. Well, that's sort of it, but it's more like... a sort of fate, destiny... whatever... Not exactly, though.
Coincidence is a force... almost a sentient force... Things may or may not exactly be related... not directly, probably... It is, trust me, complicated to explain. I don't know that it can be done adequately. Hmmm... let me think...
Did you ever notice you could go a long time without being aware of something, without ever in your life hearing of something- something that has existed for a long time, mind, not something new that you couldn't have heard of before- but after the first time you hear of it, you suddenly start hearing of it fairly frequently? And not because it's suddenly gotten popular or anything, it's just... a coincidence...
Or, even if it's something you've known about for a long time, but just rarely hear or think about, references to it pop up frequently over a period of time, for no apparent or related reason...
Or, if you watch one episode of a TV show, and months go by during which you never get a chance to watch another episode, the second time you ever get to see the show, it turns out to be the same episode you've already seen.
Well, these are minor, common examples of coincidence, which many or even most people may experience sometimes. But there are some people... people for whom Coincidence is somewhat to them as the Force is to Jedi Knights. Coincidence flows through them strongly- perhaps they don't control it, but it is more in their lives than in most people's. Technically, these people are more like Coincidence magnets, but I call them- us- Coincidence Magi.
I say us, for I am a Coincidence Mage. Oft times coincidences will occur in my life; small, almost unnoticeable ones, medium ones, large ones, nearly impossible ones sometimes. I have sometimes thought of trying to keep a record of such things as they happen, but i usually don't think of it. And usually it's fairly small things. Maybe one day I'll see reference of or think of or mention something I haven't seen/thought of for quite a while, just by chance. And later that day I'll see it, or whatever. Like, I could think of a scene in a TV show, and be watching the show later that day, not even knowing what episode the scene was in- or maybe I do- and then the scene shows up. Or, maybe I'm thinking of mentioning something to somebody, and then they mention it themselves- neither of us having any particular reason to do so, it has nothing to do with the conversation or anything...
Anyway. There really isn't much more to say at the moment. But I'm sure there are other Coincidence Magi out there. Remember the power of Coincidence, and do not underestimate it. It is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe, as I say. And all the most powerful forces in the Universe are inter-related. Why, if a series of random thoughts leads one to search one night for a website on some subject or other, and finds one, and through that meets someone online who they are destined to fall in love with... that might be quite a large, important coincidence, especially if the website almost never works because the server sucks, and shortly after the people meet the site goes down completely, but they're already talking as friends elsewhere after meeting there, and it's only because one of them just recently for the first time in their life acquired their own computer, and... and so many seemingly unrelated little coincidences work together to bring these people together... Well now, remember- most people will tell you Love is one of, if not the, most powerful forces in the Universe. And the person who just got the computer wouldn't have it if he hadn't just made some money and a friend hadn't just bought a discount computer and moved in with his then-girlfriend who brought her own computer so the friend needed to get rid of his and was willing to do so even cheaper than he bought it and... Well, Money is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe... So is the Force, in Star Wars, anyway, which is the subject of a website the person was looking at one day before seeing the Special Edition rerelease of the movie, and the computer forced him to push the computer onto the floor, leading to his banishment from computer labs, leading him to drop out of school, leading to 18 months without the Internet, including a summer when he would work at a friend's store to make a little money after another friend who would later buy a cheap computer moved away, and making this little money could afford to buy his friend's computer later... Say, the Internet's one of the most powerful forces in the Universe, too, and closely related to Knowledge, and everything...
Shut up, me. It gets involved. Sorry. Just trying to demonstrate inter-relations of the Major Forces of the Universe. Anyway...
