SPECIFICATIONS FOR Year 2000 DESIGN COMPETITION

THE RULES:

ELIGIBILITY
This juried competition is free and open to all, you may submit up to 2 entries. As one of the largest races in the Southeast, and the biggest one day event of any sort in Charleston, the winning image will be reproduced on over 30,000 T-shirts, many thousands of posters and on Bridge Run publicity materials.
1. Any media is acceptable; winning image to be photographed and reproduced in a 4-color process separation.(T-shirts will be white)
2. Size should not exceed 32 x 32 inches. Vertical orientations (where the overall width is smaller than the overall height) are recommended.
3. The artist/designer may choose to include the following text within or around the image area:
a."23rd annual",
b." Cooper River Bridge Run",
c."10 K"
d."Charleston SC",
e."April 1, 2000"
The entrant may choose to NOT include text-
with the understanding that the Bridge Run (in consultation with the winner) will add text into or around the winning entry as needed for the purposes of the T-shirt and Poster.

AWARDS
The jury will be looking for one dynamic image to represent the 2000 Bridge Run as both a poster and a T-shirt. The winner will receive a lot of recognition, $500, 50 posters and 24 shirts. The jury (composed of Bridge Run staff, invited artists/ designers, and art educators) may decide to pick a seperate poster and T-shirt winner, in which case each will receive $250.

YOUTH DIVISION
Children and students entries will be displayed in the open competition, and are thus eligible to win the open competition outright. After the open judging , student entries will then be grouped into age brackets, and considered for gifts.

*Drop-off (in person) Sunday 2:00 to 6:00 pm Aug 22, 1999 or Monday Aug 23 9am to 8 pm, at MUSC Harper Student Ctr. (45 Courtenay Dr-for a map click here)

*Jury to meet Aug. 26,
Display of all work and reception for all artists in late September or October 1999(date TBA).
*All entries will be held and displayed during the Bridge Run Expo at the Harper Center the week of the Bridge Run (April 1, 2000).
