Just Another Day at Healer Hall

Or

What Happened to Aurian & Kharty while they were studying.

One late summer day, things are peaceful at Healer Hall. It’s a bloody miracle. The apprentices are taking advantage of it by getting their chores and their studying done.

But it does appear that several dragons had different plans, the poor little apprentices don't know what 's going to hit them.

 Important Note:

This log was pieced together with the aid of M'kla. If she hadn't helped, it wouldn’t have been as funsies. So I gratefully thank her here, for sending me her part when she did. Now for the interesting stuff. Anything in the color blue, came from her log. If its in Italics, it is dragon speech. If it has bars above and below it, its not happening where my character is located.

Peachy huh? ;>

Healer Hall Courtyard(#911RJa)

Peaceful and serene, this small grey flagstone courtyard outside the entrance of the Healer Hall serves as a place of rest and recreation for all who gather here. Large bronze doors set inside the cliff face lead into the Healer Hall. A few shuttered windows look out over the courtyard from the second floor. To the south, an opening in the hedge leads to the herb garden, while to the East a path leads to the main road.

+lhelp is useful here for aspiring healers.

Its walls covered with colorful tapestries, the main entrance to the Healer Hall is a lovely place. The tapestries are covered with pictures of herbs and flowers, with the name of each plant stitched carefully below its description. Several chairs and couches are scattered about, to provide places to sit, and tables contain a few interesting items to help while away the time. A large wrought-iron spiral staircase in the western corner of this room leads up to the second floor living area. The railing posts of the staircase are finely carved to resemble vines and flowers; the stairs themselves look quite solid.

A hallway leads south to the main working area of the Hall. There is a large window, a rarity in the cliffside hall, beside the bronze doorway of the entrance. Through it, you can see the courtyard to the east.

A relaxing atmosphere permeates this room, where healers can come to relax and socialize. A long couch lines one wall. It looks comfortable, inviting you to sit. Every hour, a drudge comes in to replace the snacks and klah sitting on the table in the corner. Glows hang around the room, but are subdued and easy on the eyes. A large old wooden chair has become a favorite place for hall firelizards to congregate.

A swinging door at the northwest end of the room leads back to the training hallway.

The doors swing shut behind you as you step into the lounge.

Aurian enters with a tray full of meatrolls and several fresh pitchers of klah.

Rikina looks up and smiles at the fresh food.

Aurian places them down. "I wish I could say that they would taste better but ahhh that would not be so."

Ayanne pushes open the swinging doors and enters from the hallway.

The doors swing shut behind her.

Ayanne heads into the lounge, hides and records bundled under her arm as always. The hides get dropped onto a handy surface, and the frazzled senior apprentice heads for the all important, life-sustaining, klah.

Rikina grins slightly at that.

Aurian has just finished putting down a tray of klah and meatrolls, "Evening Ayanne." She drops back onto the sofa and waves to the new apprentice.

Rikina nods to Aurian.

Aurian grins. "Oh what bliss!" She smiles.

Ayanne smiles, genuinely happy to see Aurian. "Heya!" She exclaims, and

curiously glances towards the new apprentice. "Hello."

Aurian calls over to Ayanne, "I don't suppose you have the Veratrum hide?"

Ayanne gives the pile of hides an exasperated look, and nods slowly. "I think there's one in there on it..."

Aurian grins, "Toss it to me, and you can torment the new junior." She winks at Rikina.

Rikina smiles slightly at Aurian.

Ayanne sets a mug of klah aside, and begins shuffling through the mountain of hides. "Now... where'd it...A-ha!" The hide in question is pulled out, and skitters across the table surface to Aurian. "There. Now. Tormenting?" There's a smile to indicate she's kidding.

Aurian unrolls the hide and starts to read it, "Bleah."

Rikina sits there watching not sure what is going to happen.

Ayanne smiles, with some amusement. New apprentices are much more fun that old, musty hides. "So, wher're you from?" the wooly-haired apprentice prompts.

Rikina says "Hold South Telgar"

Ayanne smiles, nodding. "Haven't been there, m'self." For the shy apprentice she used to be, and oft still is, she's being pretty friendly. Though the familiar surroundings might help with that. "And... what brings you here?" She drawls, her accent plainly labelling her as being from the 'Reaches.

Aurian grabs a meatroll from the table she breaks it quickly into chunks and distributes them amongst her trio of firelizards.

Rikina says "I am here to study so I can become a healer."

Aurian gives Ayanne a look that says 'and why did you come here'.

Ayanne grins over to Aurian, and sticks out her tongue. Shrugging playfully, she keeps up the 'interrogation.' "How 'come?" Is this a game of twenty questions?

Aurian giggles "See what I said about torment."

Rikina looks questionly at Aurian, "Because my hold healer sent me here."

Ayanne supresses a giggle, waggling her eyebrows at Aurian. To the new apprentice, she asks, "How come?" and leans forward on her elbows.

Rikina looks to Aurian for help.

Rikina looks quietly down to her lap not sure what is going on.

Aurian shakes her head, "No way, I've been through that. Its something we all have to face."

Rikina sighs, "To learn to be a healer"

Ayanne now does indeed giggle, shaking her head, and waving a hand at the the subject of her inquisition. "It's allright! I'm just teasing you. I'm Ayanne."

Rikina sighs with releave, "I am Rikina"

Ayanne smiles, in a friendly sort of way, "Well met, Rikina."

Aurian grins as she watches.

Rikina drinks her klah.

Ayanne shoves her hides around a little, idly sipping at her klah. Not fun. Back to the apprentice. "So, are you settling in well?" she asks.

Aurian changes her position on the sofa so she can lay back a bit. Head where her feet should be feet where her head should be. She stares at the hide as her hair falls onto the floor.

Rikina says "Yes, thank you."

Ayanne evidently finds a hide she'd been searching through the pile for, but she pays it little attention. "Met most of the Masters, yet?"

Aurian chuckles from behind the hide, "I'd stay out of the pharmacy for at least the next couple monthes if you could avoid it. Master Snider despises new apprentices."

Rikina shakes her head, "I haven't met any of them"

Varaaki pushes open the swinging doors and enters from the hallway.

The doors swing shut behind him.

Varaaki waves in greeting and settles down on a couch with his scrolls.

Rikina smiles as Varaaki comes in.

Ayanne lifts her mug of klah in greeting to Varaaki, a mountain of scrolls before her, but neglected in her interest of the newest face in the room.

Varaaki pours himself some klah and settles back down, sipping lightly.

Aurian growls at the hide, "This isn't helping me. I'm going to run out to the pharmacy and see if the information is better there." She tosses the rolled hide back to Ayanne. She does how ever look really reluctant about leaving her cushy spot on the couch.

Ayanne gives Aurian a look of interest. Anything's more interresting than the scrolls and hides before her. "Really?" She must be bored. She's willing t risk a run-in with Snider. "Care for some company?"

Aurian nods, she grins wickedly, "Sure if you want' after all it is your hide."

Varaaki finishes off his klah and stands, giving a little wave of departure.

Varaaki pushes open the swinging doors and goes out into the hallway.

The doors swing shut behind him.

Aurian giggles at her own bad pun.

Ayanne rises, leaving her klah behind, with the scrolls. A slightly sour face indicates that she 'got' the pun, followed quickly by an amiable grin. "Care t'come and risk adventure, doom, and extra chores by Snider?" She asks the newest apprentice.

Aurian rubs her hands together then ambles about the room like a very old man, her eyes narrow and she mutters somehting about the evillness of apprentices and herbs. Clearly its supposed to be snider. But she's just way to short.

Ayanne snorts a bit of a giggle, heading out after 'Snider,' and doing her best to do her own imitation.

You push open the swinging doors, and go into the hallway.

Ayanne comes through the swinging doors from the Healer Lounge.

The two 'Sniders' shuffle down the hall in unison, the giggles giving them away quite nicely.

Aurian shuffles towards the infirmary.

You push through the door into the Infirmary.

Infirmary - Healer Hall

Brightly lit and cheery, this room has several couches near the entrance. Games of all sorts, along with fresh fruits and water, have been left here to help those visiting patients pass the time.

At the eastern end of the room is a fireplace with a pot of fresh water ready to be heated. A long counter nearby is perfect for preparing medicines. The rest of the room is sectioned off by curtains, to provide private areas for patients to rest or be examined. The private areas seem unusually large, at first, until you realize they were made that way on purpose, so groups of Healers can visit any patient and learn from the patient's condition and treatment.

Ayanne enters the waiting area from the Hallway.

Aurian shuffles in looking like she is doing something weird. She is trying to be aged and mutters about evil apprentices and their mistreatment of herbs.

Kiyah peers over to Aurian, blinking while trying not to bust out laughing. Waving to the pair of healers, she smiles rather sadly, "Heyla you two..."

Ayanne for some odd reason follows behind Aurian, doing much the same odd shuffle.

Aurian sniffs and glances over at Kiyah, "Y' were an apprentice once, y' mistreated m' herbs."

Maylia enters the waiting area from the Hallway.

Kharty enters the waiting area from the Hallway.

K'tyn enters the waiting area from the Hallway.

Varaaki relaxes slightly, leaving Master Snider's domain.

Just as Aurian says this however Master Snider appears in the doorway of the pharmacy turning about thirty shades of red.

Ayanne can't handle the imitation anymore, and bursts into giggles, returning to her normal posture, the impression of an aged persone dissolving.

Kiyah raises a brow at Aurian, "Well, I suppose..." Eyeing the Master, she watches as a plethora of folks arrive into the lounge.

Varaaki ohs, and looks around. The Hall is chock-full of strange people tonight.

Kharty smiles when she sees Varaaki enter the room, then centers her gaze back to the room, not knowing several of the people here.

K'tyn pops his head in, brows rising with curiosity. "My pardon," he says quietly, adding, "Telgar's duties."

Maylia leads the small procession into the Hall, an amiable if strained smile on her lips. "Evening, Telgar's duties to the Hall," She greets, her voice modified in respect of any patients recieving care.

Kiyah raises her brow towards the riders, nodding, 'Healer's duties to Telgar and their queens."

Aurian waves at Maylia, still doing that funny shuffle as she walks right into Master Snider.

Ayanne forgets her embarrassement over the Master Snider imitation, her

attention to the riders. She doesn't even warn Aurian. "Healer's duties?" She mumbles.

Varaaki erms again, and shuffles about. "Um... ah well... I'll um, be on my way..." He leaves, in a hurry.

Varaaki walks into the pharmacy.

Aurian blinks up at Master Snider. "Um did you see that sir?"

Kharty tosses the hide onto a chair with her one good hand then looks toward K'tyn, starting there with her introductions. "I'm Kharty," she begins then looks in surprise as she sees Varaaki leave suddenly. "Did we say something wrong?"

Kiyah laughs and shakes her head, "He's not the type to enjoy loud places..."

Master Snider peers down his nose at Aurian, its a really long nose.

"Apprentice, I saw everything could you join me in the Pharmacy?"

Aurian sighs, "Yes sir."

You walk on into the pharmacy.

Pharmacy

This is a brightly-lit room filled with counters and shelves. As you walk into the room you notice a distinct medicinal smell, and the ever-present Master Snider behind one counter. The Master is busily working with a mortar and pestle, or else instructing an unfortunate apprentice in proper technique.

The room is warm from a small fire burning in a hearth in the wall between here and the infirmary.

There are a number of books on one counter which may be +view-ed.

Varaaki, sitting up on a counter, says, "Um... Hi Aurian..."

Master Snider tilts his head to the side, "And since you are one of the few that treats my herbs with respect I will only assign you two weeks of cleaning up the watch-wher's weyr."

Varaaki gulps and looks at the Master, and then back at Aurian. He hops off the counter and mumbles something about needing to be elsewhere.

Varaaki walks out into the Infirmary.

Aurian says, "Two weeks? but master?"

Master Snider, yells, "Make that three!"

Aurian nods and gets the message.

Snider yells loudly, "Now leave my pharmacy."

You relax slightly, glad to be leaving Master Snider's domain and returning to the Infirmary.

Varaaki rifles through some things, resupplying his healer's pouch. His eyes wander warily over all assembled.

Aurian enters looking a bit pale, "Oh well." She smiles a touch at Ayanne, "Lucky he didn't see you."

Ayanne shoots a relieved look to Aurian, perhaps relieved to see her friend all in one peice.

Aurian leans over to Ayanne her hair tumbling forward to mask what she whispers.

Aurian whispers, "three weeks of watch-wher duty" to Ayanne.

Kiyah stands up for a moment before moving towards the door, grinning, "Well, I better get packing...."

K'tyn smiles, a warm greeting. "Aye, Kharty-that is your name? I remember it echoing in the cavern that is my head, as Jehrina would say." He nods at a nearby diagram, "I was much interested in this--I wanted to help those who needed helping."

Varaaki opens a vial of numbweed salve and sniffs it, to see if it is still fresh.

Aurian raises an eyebrow at Kiyah, "Have you been posted already?

Kiyah nods, "Yup, Nabol."

Aurian grins, "That was what you wanted right?" She picks up a hide and tucks it away to be put up at some time.

Kharty holds out her bandaged hand to K'tyn then laughs at herself quietly. Pulling that one back to tuck it by her waist, she holds out the other to the rider. "Kharty it is. Well met.. You wanted to be a healer at one time?"

Maylia frowns briefly, assessing her cousin for a moment. Then attention gets back to the journey ranked Healer. "Congratulations, by the way, Kiyah." the greenrider says, unable to stay formal as she should be around old friends.

Varaaki roots around for some clean bandages.

K'tyn nods, taking Kharty's hand. "Tis K'tyn I am, and from Telgar Weyr I come, though I was at Benden before that. I am pleased to make your aquaintance."

Ayanne stifles a giggle at whatever it was that Aurian whispered to her, eyes wide. As it seems that Kiyah's too busy to aide the riders, the senior apprentice steps forward. "Ma'am? If I could see the list, I'll just be a moment assembling the herbs."

Kiyah laughs and nods to Aurian, "Yes..."

Kiyah shoots a grin towards Maylia before waving on her way out.

Kiyah moves through the door and into the Main Hallway.

Kharty returns the nod then gives a thoughtful look. "Were you at the clutching? I was there.." her voice trails off as she tries to place him being there or not.

Aurian runs a hand through her hair. She looks like she's debating what to do next.

Varaaki examines a bottle of redwort for freshness before popping in into his pack.

Maylia hands the list of herbs to the apprentice, smiling her thanks. She remembers just what it's like to enter the domain of Master Snider, and was not looking forward to it.

Kharty listens as Maylia speaks with the apprentice and hmphs to herself. She's so nice to others. Her own kin? Not likely.

Ayanne trots off to seek out the herbs required, nodding to herself and muttering as she disappears through the doorway.

K'tyn looks out toward the courtyard, eyes going vague a moment. "Ah-- M'kla's here," he says after a moment, before nodding at Kharrty's question. "Aye. I wanted to be a healer. My Da wanted me to be a holder. We disagreed, hm?" He winks.

Aurian glances at Maylia, "You should have sent that over Maylia, you know we would have gotten it together quickly." Some random though takes over and tilts her head, "How's M'kla? I haven't been recieving the information unlike Judith? Do you know if she is following the diet?"

M'kla enters the waiting area from the Hallway.

Varaaki sets some water to boiling in the kettle.

Maylia totally misses any expression on her cousin's face - perhaps the young rider is deliberately doing it, perhaps it's force of an old habit. They die hard, you know. Aurian gets a smile and a nod, "I know, but Richenda wanted them yesterday, but didn't give me the list till today. So I figured I'd come by."

M'kla ehs as she stumps in, cane in hand still. Stubborn one, "K'tyn! It's a wonder ye can get from here to Telgar...Prometh's directions are attrocious!" She's grinning though, "I thought I had the Fort Area today?"

Aurian glances up standing a bit on tiptoe as she sees M'kla, "Ah just who I was asking after."

Kharty almost laughs out loud as K'tyn mentions his da. "Mine's not the one to be supportive either." she sends a return wink back to him. "As Maylia knows.." she then goes on, ignoring Maylia's look.

K'tyn leans against the wall, speaking quietly, if slowly, with Kharty. He grins at M'kla."You did, indeed. I wanted a break, and Maylia had an errand."

Ayanne pops her head back into the infirmary, trying to get the younger rider's attention. That another's arrived hardly seems to phase her. "They'll be just a moment, Master Snider's looking after it himself." She ducks back into the pharmacy muttering under her breath what might be jests at the ornery master.

M'kla ohs and grins, her expression going blank for a moment as she communicates with her lifemate. "Twas afraid I were losing my mind."

Varaaki eyes the riders suspiciously as he boils some tools.

Aurian slips about Maylia to peer up at M'kla, "And are you following the instructions we gave you?" She folds her arms across her chest trying to look authorative.

M'kla chuckles some, and eyes the healer right back. Mutual distrust? Possibly, "Well, I wer gonna take advantage of the fact that I was just released for *between*, and that Meesh is somewhere in this warren... while T'goth and Yanny do their thing."

Maylia nods to the young Senior apprentice, taking a casual stance. Her apparant overlooking of her cousin ends for a moment. "Not supportive? Oh, he's supportive, so long as you're doing as he wishes." To M'kla she offers a quick salute, a jaunty grin adorning her face. "Nah, don't worry. I'd not usurp your areas."

M'kla chuckles some, "I dan't mind, lass...Torinth can't search old socks...it's T'goth's pride that I worry for." She grins, returning the salute.

M'kla says "But I saw the bar--Prometh down here, and was curious. Must've been napping when ye left, sir.""

Kharty watches M'kla enter the room and smiles, offering a hand as the rider finishes. "Kharty.. well met.." Without even looking at Maylia she whispers quietly to her, "And you were always the one to do what you were told, right?"

Aurian continues staring up at M'kla waiting for a response.

K'tyn grins. "Meesh? He's one o' yours?" He asks M'kla, looking at Kharty a moment, grinning. "Me da was not one to argue with, hm? We could not see our way to each other, so... I left. Twas but accident that Vidarth's rider found me at Igen and took me to Benden."

Varaaki rubs down his tools with some of the redwort, still eyeing the gathered company.

Aurian stands on her tiptoes a bit so shes on a bit of the same level as M'kla, "I'm sorry but I wanted to know if the healers should be visiting you daily or if you were following your diet and such." She smiles politely.

Maylia doesnt answer. She might've dropped some formality in the presence of her old friends, but not enough to respond as her expression indicates she wishes she could. A strained chuckle rises over this. "Well, M'kla, Tierth's hardly one for Searching. Never so much as sneezed over anyone's potential."

M'kla grins, "Myshel, K'tyn...my third-to-youngest...he's gotten himself apprenticed he--" She stops when Aurian questions her, and ehs?

M'kla smiles some, very politely (which means anyone who knows M'kla knows she's got the best pokerface for miles), "Aye lass, I've been following it to the letter...for fear ye'll all lock me back in that infirmary and throw away the key."

Ayanne heads back into the infirmary, beckoning to Varaaki. "Could you hold these?" she extends two sacks, presumably filled with delicate herbs from the way she's holding them with care. "I've two more to get."

In the Courtyard....

Torinth> Prometh and Tierth sense that Torinth senses Prometh's

excitement and quickly agrees. Unlike her rider, she is of the opinion

she searches quite well. << Yes. >> Backing her up though, come the

quiet voices of the two blues that accompanied the green.

Aurian stares back at M'kla, but can't read her. She nods, "Alright then." She smiles a touch, "Have to do a follow up sometime."

Varaaki lays out the steaming, cleaned instruments on a cloth.

M'kla nods solemnly to Aurian, "An might I ask you a quesion, lass?"

Aurian blinks a bit, "Aye ma'am, of course."

They haven't left the courtyard folks,

Dragon> Torinth and Tierth sense that Tierth wonders, << Something? >> a pause. << Sort of... a ... feeling? Of... rightness? >>

K'tyn clears his throat, but waits for M'kla to speak. He smiles a bit in curiosity at her pause.

You bloody well know where they are...

Torinth> Prometh and Tierth sense that Torinth blurts out over the other green << We SEARCH! >> Quiggeth, having a bit more nose than his wingleader, agrees once again, that there is someone with the rightness inside.

M'kla says "D'ye know how the apprentice Myshel fairs? He fell and broke his ankle, and he's not written in some time. His Ma worries."

Maylia smiles, assuming that the bundles are the herbs she'd requested.

"Y'know? I was doing just the same thing for Tas, first time I met him." the young rider comments, perhaps to nobody.

Aurian curves a grin, "Last thing I heard he was back on duties." She tucks a curl of her hair back.

They haven't budged an inch JEEEEEEZ....

Dragon> Prometh and Torinth sense that Tierth catches the exitement.

<< THAT's the feeling? That means we search? >>

K'tyn clears his throat again. "Excuse me, everyone...."

M'kla ahs smartly, "Guld. Well, if you have any pull, see he gets a few less chores if he's too busy to write me."

Ayanne hands over the bundles, and darts back for the other two. She re-emerges, these bags held with just as much care.

M'kla grins, obviously kidding about the chores.

Aurian chuckles. "When I'm done with my extra chores I can go ahead and help him with his. The last think you need is to worry about him." She grins.

Maylia looks over to Aurian, a wide smile on her face as she nods. But she's not about to interrupt.

M'kla ehs and looks to K'tyn.

Kharty hears K'tyn clear his throat and waits to hear the reason.

"This may be an imposition, but -- We seem to have a consensus among the dragons that are in the courtyard. There are those, they feel, that they would like to have a closer look at. Please, Shall we?" K'tyn smiles, nodding toward the outside.

Aurian raises an eyebrow straight up.

Varaaki seaches through the cabinets for some undetermined item he does not seem able to find.

Maylia hesitates, turning in the general direction of the courtyard. Into the silence of those waiting for K'tyn to make an announcement. "We WHAT?" She asks, into the air. Embarrassed at herself, she turns to look at the Weyrleader as he confirms what Tierth just told her.

M'kla chuckles some, "Well...Telgar does ride search, which is what I'd actually come to do, only to find my Weyrleader skulking about here chatting."

Kharty looks a little bewildered and looks at K'tyn. "All of us?" she asks, somewhat hesitatingly.

M'kla chuckles, "Well lass, dragons can't see through stone."

K'tyn grins at M'kla. "Tis that, too, though--tis not often that Prometh reacts. Please, outside." He nods at Kharty, confirming. "Everyone."

Kharty laughs and answers, "That's true.."

Aurian tucks a stray curl behind her ear and starts towards the door. She shakes her head a touch.

Kharty stands up and stretches, her arms reaching upwards, almost hitting Varaaki as she does. "Oh sorry." she grins, then begins her walk to the door.

Ayanne looks a little bewildered, but shrugs, the bags she's holding carefully rustling at her sides. Along with the other apprentices who'd been sorting bandages, tending patients, and working under Master Snider's watchfull eye, she heads towards the door.

Varaaki heys! and dodges. "Easy on that hand, Kharty."

Aurian erfs a bit as Varaaki dodges into her.

Kharty sends a smile to Varaaki. "I am. I missed you, right?" One last grin sends her out the door.

Kharty moves through the door and into the Main Hallway.

Maylia has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Varaaki has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Kharty walks into the courtyard, still grinning at her playfulness to the healer in the Infirmary. "Oh dear, we've another one in the courtyard." she smiles. Seeing Ayanne and the group enter, she asks, "Is the Hall always so busy?"

Aurian looks about lightly amazed that the courtyard can look so small.

M'kla comes stumping out with the help of her support, and looks to the actual search wing, where dark navy blue Quiggeth and his weyrmate's dragon pale faded denim blue Markth sit together with Torinth.

Varaaki rolls his eyes uncomfortably as he enters, and sighs at the crowd.

Ayanne shrugs to Kharty, gazing at the dragons. "Oh, riders come and go, y'know..." she says, a little bewildered.

As the people begin to file out, the searchdragons turn heads towards each other, wings flicking and tails twitching in silence.

Aurian places a hand on Varaaki's shoulder and she whispers something to him with a grin.

Varaaki tries to stay as far from the dragons and their riders as possible, lingering by the entrance to the Hall.

Aurian whispers, "Just imagine them naked and you are the only one in clothes." to Varaaki.

Jerral comes into the courtyard from the road.

K'tyn has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Kiyah has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Jerral bows thoughtfully on his way past and into the Hall.

Varaaki glares at Aurian, but this facade cannot hold and he cracks a grin.

Jerral opens the great bronze doors and enters the Healer Hall.

Tierth shuffles along with the searching wing, youthful exuberance getting the better of her.

Kharty says to Varaaki with that same playful smile, "You were so sure of yourself with me when I hurt my hand.. and so quiet now.."

Aurian chuckles at the junior apprentice, she smiles as she watches him relax.

Kiyah shakes her head quietly and glances up at the dragons, a neutral gaze upon her visage.

Varaaki mumbles something to no one in particular about not liking dragonriders.

Maylia heads over to her lifemate, chuckling at her. "Relax, love. They know what they're doing." A pause. "All right, all right. If you must." She looks for M'kla in the sea of apprentices filling the courtyard. "M'kla, would you mind if Tierth took a good look at some of them?"

Prometh is sitting alertly, staring at the arrivals as they file out. He rumbles, shifting from foot to foot with excitement.

M'kla chuckles some, as she stands and confers for a long moment with the blue riders T'goth and Yanny. Then comes back to K'tyn and Maylia, and speaks briefly with them as well.

Kharty centers her gaze on the dragons, not waiting for Varaaki to reply, and looks a little confused by their stances. Something's obviously at work, but what.

Aurian stays with the other apprentices. She glances towards the watch-wher's weyr and shudders. She mutters something about, "three weeks."

M'kla mutters to K'tyn, "T'goth... here...but Quiggeth... that... She... to... She points to..."

M'kla whispers, "T'goth says that there are at least two here...but Quiggeth finds that one..." She points to Kharty, "And that one" She points to another girl, "Are most likely."" to K'tyn.

Rikina has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Varaaki puts his hands on his hips. "How long is this going to take?" he asks the sky.

Rikina walks out quietly moving over to the other healers.

Kharty catches Aurian's muttering and looks directly at her and asks, "Three what?"

M'kla points briefly to two different young women as they stand there, and speaks in low tones as the blues sit back and look pleased with themselves.

Aurian murmurs to Kharty lightly.

Aurian whispers, "Master Snider has assigned me three weeks of cleaning up after the watch wher." to Kharty.

K'tyn flashes a look at Varaaki, and then nods at M'kla. He mutters to M'kla, "... to... consensus."

M'kla senses, "K'tyn flashes a look at Varaaki, and then nods at M'kla. "But Prometh thinks him,and that one, too. Though, I think tis best to go with the consensus."

Kharty leans closer to Aurian and listens to the whispering, keeping one eye on the goings on before her.

Rikina watches the dragons with awe

Kiyah waves to Rikina as she deftly stands furtherest behind the other healers. She is sure she isn't up to be snuffled first so having the others in front of her would be wise.

Varaaki finds a bench to rest on while he watches this silliness.

Maylia replies in simmilar low tones, frowning just a little at who's selected.

Tierth sits infront of a semi-cirlce of the gathered ones, eyeing them curiously, one at a time.

M'kla smiles a bit, and says in a gently teasing tone, She mutters to

K'tyn, "Prometh searches... his..."

K'tyn senses "M'kla smiles a bit, and says in a gently teasing tone, "Prometh searches with his ego, I think.""

Rikina walks over to Kiyah and stands with her.

Kiyah gives her shoulder a slight twitch before she watches, "So how do you like the hall so far, Rikina?"

Kharty feels the gazes of the dragons as they eye the group and shudders a little. "Maylia?" she asks in a low voice, none of the usual stiffness present now.

Ayanne stands, surrounded by others, the dragons hardly batting an eyelash, at her. That they don't have eyelashes doesn't matter - that's how little attention she's getting. And the girl looks relieved.

Prometh stamps his foot, nosing one Healer-type after anotheer. "Prometh! We canna take them all!" Kiat laughs.

M'kla turns at that, and smiles some, clearing her throat, "Ye might know, Telgar has a clutch on the sands, out of the senior Queen...it is the first clutch since many of us have arrived at Telgar. Right now, I ride Search, under Fort's graces...and the dragons have deemed someone here suitable candidates."

Varaaki snorts irreverently.

Rikina turns to Kiyah, "I like it."

Kiyah chuckles quietly at the rider's remark. Grinning at M'kla, she nods slowly but shrugs slightly, "Some, eh?"

M'kla chuckles at the bronze, and goes on to continue, "You...and you...both you lasses, step forward so they can see you more clearly." She points, first to Kharty, and then Aurian.

Tierth lowers her head to peer at one hopeful person, then another. The young green turns to stare at the other dragons, whuuuffffing. Her rider, standing with the others, turns at Kharty's call. "Yes?"

Kharty blinks at M'kla's finger. "Me?" she asks with a somewhat disbelieving tone.

Aurian steps forward a bit. She glances toward a couple of her friends. She bites her bottom lip.

The darkly hided Quiggeth gives a soft snort, shifting from foot to foot.

Kiyah grins to Aurian, winking and mouthing, 'Be brave' and continues to watch with amusement dancing in her eyes.

M'kla nods to Kharty..."Aye, you too...come here." She steps up to the young women, and says in a tone that carries across the yard, "The dragons have found you both suitable candidates for the eggs currently on Telgar's sands. Will you accept Search?"

Kharty takes a few steps forward, looking up at her cousin's dragon. Her eyes fill with wonder as her eyes catch Tierth's momentarily.

Aurian starts to bubble with laughter at Kiyah's remark.

Varaaki looks at Aurian, looks at his feet, and shakes his head.

Rikina continues to watch the Dragons not used to seeing them so close up.

Torinth snorts at all the laughing and horseplay, lowering her head to eye the two in front of her rider dubiously.

Kharty smiles up at Torinth and says without hesitation. "Aye. I do!"

Prometh fixes his steely eye on Varaaki, and then Kiyah before rumbling

impressively. Kharty, he glances at before sinking into low crouch.

Varaaki stands and moves toward the entrance doors of the Hall.

Kiyah's smile spreads widely over her visage as she grins at Aurian, "Congrats!"

Tierth drops her head to Kharty's head level, her chin resting on the ground. Whuuufffff. A long gaze, and she lifts it again, to turn one eye, whirling with colours, on Aurian.

Kharty hears Prometh's rumble and grins, watching and waiting. "Aye, I do.." she says in a more quiet voice, affirming what she'd already said.

Kiyah leans back and sighs, "Well that's over. I'm still in one piece!"

Aurian blinks at Tierth. She eyes the green a touch trepidaciously.

Prometh snakes his head out, trying to block Varaaki from leaving. "Ah--Not a good idea there," Kiat calls out. "He's rather stubborn. Best to just wait a moment."

M'kla nods to Kharty, and then looks to Aurian for a response.

Dragon> Prometh and Torinth sense that Tierth eyes the two brought forward, wings rustling just a little. << They feel... different... than the others. >> She states. << Why? >>

Varaaki rolls his eyes, but backs off with clear discomfort.

Aurian nods to M'kla, "Aye. I will."

Dragon> Prometh bespoke Torinth and Tierth with << They are females?>> He looks at them closely.

<< They will do, I suppose. >>

M'kla nods, and looks to K'tyn, "I'll leave word with the masters..." And then back to Kharty and Aurian, "You two will need to get some things for your stay...you might want to go get them."

Kharty backs away a little and looks at her cousin. "Maylia.. I need to go and get my coat.. It's all I have here though.."

Sandre has arrived from the Healer Hall.

Sandre halts in his tracks and blinks in mild surprise at the crowd.

Aurian points her thumb back towards the hall, "Just a few things."

K'tyn stands near the Bronze's head, clearly having a long discussion with him. "You may not take them all," he says quietly. "They may not wish to come!"

M'kla nods, and then pulls out a hide scroll...unrolls it, and pulls out a belt knife...from the scroll, she cuts off a short portion with writing on it, and looks around for the person who seems to have the most seniority.

Kiyah laughs, "I hope he doesn't! What'll I say to my fiance? Your lovely bride-to-be was snatched up by Telgarian dragonriders?" Patting her belly, 'And I'm expecting as well, sir..."

Tierth turns her head towards the older dragons, wings rustling along her back.

After a moment, she turns back to the two girls. Snort. Beneath the greens chin, Maylia nods to Kharty, eyes narrowed as she regards her cousin, in a measuring sort of way. "Of course. We'll send word to your father."

Sandre sighs, and meanders toward the nearest rider. "Absconding with more of 'em?" he asks.

Kharty shudders a little with the excitement and looks at Maylia. My how things change when you need someone's help.. but then she's not really one to hate this cousin of hers. Well, maybe -sometimes- ..

M'kla chuckles at Sandre, and nods, "Aye, but I promise to have them back quickly if they decide otherwise."

The quiet blues snake out their heads to regard Sandre as well, and then go back to looking smug.

Varaaki keeps his distance from the dragons, and fidgets around.

K'tyn clears his throat, and sighs. "Allright. Prometh is insistant--so, I'll have to ask. "Will you come with me to Telgar? To be a candidate and possibly find a lifemate on the sands?" He asks Varaaki.

Sandre grins. looking around at the apprentices. "Well, I wish them Kiashi's luck, I suppose."

Aurian heads into the hall to go make a small bundle. She takes an alternate entrance so she doesn't have to weave through the dragons.

Kharty turns quickly and runs out of the courtyard to get a warm jacket. "I'll be right back.."

M'kla looks at Sandre, then asks, "Do you ahve seniority here?" She gestures to the group at large.

Varaaki blanches and stares at the rider addressing him in a mix of horror and awe. "I will most certainly not!"

Kharty opens the great bronze doors and enters the Healer Hall.

You head South into the Herb Garden.

Herb Garden

Trundlebugs galore! This Herb Garden is crawling with a wide variety of trundlebugs, and filled with the scent of growing herbs. Paths lead between the many beds of herbs, and this area is dotted with benches where people can stop and rest. The garden is surrounded on all sides by hedges and trellis-work, and there are bins and racks where herbs are laid out to dry whenever the weather allows. A sign is posted near the entrance, which ought to be viewed more closely.

M'kla glances at Varaaki, and chuckles again. There are always a few refusals at Search, and she doesn't seem surprised at that one.

Sandre looks around and spots Kiyah. "Kiyah and I are journeymen, m'am," he tells the rider. "We're senior to this bunch, but not so much in the Hall."

Ayanne, now that the fuss is over, heads towards Maylia with her bundles of herbs. To Varaaki, she shoots an amazed look.

Brightly lit and cheery, this room has several couches near the entrance. Games of all sorts, along with fresh fruits and water, have been left here to help those visiting patients pass the time. At the eastern end of the room is a fireplace with a pot of fresh water ready

to be heated.

The smell of fresh herbs drifts through this room, and it appears to be kept very clean.

Aurian returns with a hastily stuffed sack.

M'kla nods, "To this bunch will do, lad." She hands him a small scroll, "Will you notify Master Judith of this, for me, and pass her my greetings and thanks for her good work?"

Varaaki waves the air in front of him, as if to dispel the stench of something awful.

Sandre smiles and takes the scroll. "I will. I hope they don't give you any serious trouble."

K'tyn's brows rise as the young man's vehement refusal sounds out. Prometh, of course, is not amused. He tries, with typical Bronzer panache, to convince Varaaki to xchange his mind. A low rumbling echoes from his chest, though it breaks off at K'tyn's sharp internal command. "My thanks for the response. Come Prometh! There are others, and tis not appropriate for you to be wanting to try and compete with Kheveth in this matter!"

M'kla chuckles, "I'm sure they won't."

Kharty moves quickly into the courtyard, busily buttoning her jacket. "This is all I have.." she says, hoping Maylia will offer her something to help out. Her fingers of one hand tighten the snaps and buttons quickly if not fumble a little.

M'kla glances around again, looking at the others, and then calls, "Maylia, you know this lass?"

Maylia nods, surveying Kharty's attire briefly. "Aye, M'kla. She's my cousin." Funny, for one of blood kin, she seems hardly thrilled to have her around.

Varaaki looks to the other healers gathered here with a "did you see what awful thing just happened" kind of look.

Sandre peers over his shoulder at the blue dragons who had peered at him earlier, once the rider's attention has shifted. He looks them over closely, then shrugs and turns back to watch the apprentice-loading.

M'kla nods to Maylia, "Can I avail you to take this pair back to the Weyr then? We'll have more searching to do."

Kiyah shakes her head at Varaaki, chuckling still and shooting him a 'be quiet' look before watching the other lucky healers.

Aurian raises an eyebrow at Varaaki. She's seen others get searched, but she's never seen that.

Maylia nods M'kla, beckoning to the two Searched to come to Tierth's side. "Yes, I've my herbs for Richenda now, So I'll be heading back. I'll get them settled."

K'tyn shakes his head at M'kla, and then looks at the others. "Leilanth summons Prometh. My apologies at my hasty exit, but we must return."

Kharty glances Maylia's way and gives her a cold look, then hmms. "I've a small problem though.." She looks down at her one bandaged hand. "Could Tierth give me a leg up? This one hand is still healing and I'm not sure I can grasp as strong as usual."

K'tyn smiles, almost warmly, at Varaaki before mounting up.

K'tyn uses both oiled straps and an extended foreleg to mount Prometh. Once settled into Prometh's bronze neckridges, K'tyn thanks Prometh politely, recieving a basso rummble in return.

In the sky, Prometh launches himself into the sky above Harper and Healer Halls.

In the sky, Prometh disappears into Between.

Varaaki scrambles back inside with all haste.

Varaaki opens the great bronze doors and enters the Healer Hall.

Tierth crouches low, much as she does for any inexperienced with her. Small even for a green, she still would pose a bit of trouble. Maylia sighs, and nods to her cousin. "Climb onto her foreleg, she'll boost you a little, and I'll grab you from up there. Ready, Aurian?" The smile she gives the healer apprentice is considerably warmer than any she's given Kharty.

Aurian follows Kharty. She raises an eyebrow at Maylia, "Never thought we'd see each other again this way." She quirks a grin, full of memories and mischief.

Ayanne quietly slips back into the Hall, along with the other apprentices.

Ayanne opens the great bronze doors and enters the Healer Hall.

M'kla watches the two newest candidates get set, and then turns to go speak with her small search wing. Suddenly, high above, three more blues and a green appear, and remain circling.

Maylia swings up to her place astride Tierth, her lifemate welcoming her with a rumble.

Kharty scrambles onto Tierth's foreleg and balances there, one hand on the straps the other extended upward.

Aurian grins and shifts her sack over a bit. She waits till she is sure that Kharty is on securely.

From astride Tierth, Maylia reaches down to grasp the hand of her cousin, and what! is that a smile? couldn't be.

Kharty scrambles up Tierth's side making use of the politely offered leg as the dragon watches curiously.

Sandre steps back out of the way and waves toward Kharty and Aurian. "Good luck!"

Aurian waves to Sandre with a smile.

M'kla ehs suddenly..."Now someone else will have to tell Meesh to write his ma!"

Kharty catches Maylia's hand and lifts upward. "Wow.. you're strong,

Maylia. Stronger than I'd imagined you to be." she sounds kidding but is she?

Aurian glances to M'kla, "Tell Sandre to tell him."

Seated between Tierth's lower neck ridges, Kharty settles into the neckridge and buckles up, pulling her coat closely around her. "Alright." she calls to Maylia.

M'kla chuckles, "I'll find him myself..."

Aurian glances up at Maylia, "Ready for me?

Tierth watches Kharty get settled, and whuffles at her rider for a moment.

Maylia strokes the silvery muzzle gently, then turns to help Kharty get

strapped in. "Just wait till you've hauled 'stone around." She comments. "Alright, Aurian, c'mon up!"

Aurian reaches up and climbs a bit awkwardly onto the dragon, the sack causing some problems.

Tierth(#7707JQaems$)

The graceful curve of Tierth's neck extends before you, the soft green of new grass, streaked with silver edged dribbles as if with rain. Strong muscles ripple beneath you, covered over with velvety soft hide, and gusts of wind buffet you as she sweeps her wings. Though she's small, even for a green, she moves with confidence and grace and you feel secure. Tierth is wearing her fighting straps. The well oiled and cared for straps are black leather, edged with stitching in white and interestingly, red.

You are flying in the skies directly above Telgar Weyr. The Weyr itself is a huge caldera directly below you, formed in an irregular hourglass shape. Far off to the northwest is the gaping cavern of the Hatching grounds as well as the weyrling barracks. Beast sounds filter across from the northeast as the feeding pens are located there. The other half of the hourglass and lake reach perfectly north, the snow-capped peaks of mountains not far beyond them.

You can see the dragonweyrs of Thunderbolt and Skyfire Wings. Use '+view thunderbolt' or '+view skyfire' to see them.

Kharty ooos and feels her stomach lift as well as her behind! "Oh my.."

You fly downwards towards the ground.

Southern Bowl(#396RJL$)

Towering above, the bowl wall rises in a curving three pointed arc as it shelters this southernmost point of Telgar Weyr's great cauldera. Sloping down to the north to a slight degree, the floor of the bowl channeled so that runoff might drain down to the lake beyond. There are several strategically placed evergreens that serve to baffle the biting mountain winds away from the southern entrance into the living Caverns. Scattered leaves have tumbled into corners of the bowl, and are stuck in cracks on the edge of the rock. They have bright colors: orange, gold, and brown. Northward, the center of the bowl spreads hugely, leading to the feeding pens, hatching grounds, weyrling barracks and the Telgar Weyr lake. The ground-level weyrs of the junior weyrwomen dot the mountain to the northwest. Use '+view queenriders' to view them. The bowl is quiet in the depth of night.

Some puffy clouds skirt across the summer skies.

>>>>> For all her rapid descent, Tierth manages a delicate landing, not jarring her passengers one bit.

Maylia gives Tierth a thump on the side, chuckling. "Sorry 'bout that, she likes to show off." The young rider tells the two she's brought to the Weyr. "Let's get you off, and settled, hmmm?"

Maylia slides to the ground, and gives Tierth a parting caress and tender smile.

Aurian shivers, "I'd forgotten how cold it was up here."

Kharty looks about her and smiles broadly, "I'm sooooo ready.." her excitement contained when she realizes who she's talking to. "Yes." she simply replies again.

Kharty swings her leg over, and slides to the ground with the aid of a foreleg.

You swing your leg over and slide to Tierth's offered foreleg before hopping to the ground.

Aurian slips off the dragon lightly, she takes a deep breath, "Smells like home." She smiles a bit

Aurian tries to run a hand through her hair, "Now I remember why I disliked having my hair this long." She sighs at the windknotted mass.

Kharty motions to her hair clip and smiles at Aurian. "You'd need one of these I'd imagine."

Aurian chuckles a touch, "Well I tend never to wear it up unless making things in the pharmacy."

Maylia gives Tierth a final loving pat, smiling up at her for a moment. Brushing her clothes straight, she turns to the new Candidates, "Allright. Shall we?" She gestures to the living cavern enterance.

Maylia walks beneath the lintel and disappears into the living cavern.

Kharty walks beneath the lintel and disappears into the living cavern.

You walk past the lintel and into the wide living cavern.
