This is Yours Truly, with some of my paintings, (over my left
shoulder), in my livingroom. Check out the World's Ugliest Lamp!, (behind my right elbow).
My name is Peter Jaquysh and this is my web-thingy!
I'm not a Geek-Without-A-Life!, (... am I?). I'm just a regular guy with a
PC, Internet access, (they'll give that to just about
anyone, y'know!), and an urge to merge my life's creative work
into the WWW for others to share and enjoy.
I was born a poor black child... No, wait, that was Steve
Martin!
I was born at a very early age, and in a hospital because I
wanted to be near my mother. She was older than me at the time,
but we didn't care - we loved each other, and the rest of the
world be damned!
So, here you are! Thanks for dripping by! (Oh dear, what a
mess! Here's a towel... That's okay, I'll sleep on the wet spot.)
I'm in my late forties, single, and I live in San Francisco, (a proud Native Son and Defender Of The Faith), and my life's work, referenced above, includes painting, writing, cooking, and spending time with people who are funny, friendly and open-minded. I had a real job once, (see below). Then, I quit to do some travelling and to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I took a course in HTML/Web-page design at
LearnIt! and hope to land a
job in a related field, ("...please, please, please!"). I have
spent almost twenty years in the local corporate business world,
(United California Bank, Merrill, Lynch & Co. and Charles Schwab
& Co.), in the areas of customer service, white collar crime
investigation and regulatory/procedural compliance.
(Whew, that was a mouthful!)
UPDATE: Hey, I work FIRE Solutions as an assistant trainer, subject matter expert and copyeditor.
My last name, JAQUYSH, (pronounced "jay-quish"), is an unusual
name, to say the least. There is an island in Casco Bay, off
of Portland, Maine, named Jaquish Island, and it was named after
a Lieutenant Jacques who led a French expedition against the
Native American Indians in the 1690s. So JAQUYSH may be a so-called bastardization of Jacques.
Also, I have come across people with the names JAQUISH and
JAQUITH; these may be distant relatives whose names underwent
similar change over time.
My father's father was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and so we
count ourselves to be, at least partially, Cajun. (That may
account for my affinity for spicey foods...!)
That's Bubba, (on the left), and me at La Casa de la Meat, or The House of Prime Rib, the best place for carnivores in S.F.
Here I am with two of the most beautiful women I know: My nieces,
Ariana (left) and Alethea. Aren't they great?!
This is Shasta. He lived with me for 10 years, until, at the age
of 16, he succumbed to kidney failure, poor little guy. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him, and miss him dearly. He was
the ultimate mellow kitty.
"Wow, man. Cool..."
