Shell is the only remaining gas station in the downtown area. Not much has changed in the station since it's grand opening in 1987, except for its location. The owners feel its present location will be its final, but constant development in the downtown area means inevitable changes.
Shell will retain its monopoly on gasoline sales in Metrolegoland until competition returns. An Exxon station once stool proud in the center of downtown, but after the merger of the Shell Oil Company and the Exxon Oil Company, the station was sold and Thorntree Square was built on its spot.
