"The corridor is a door to other doorways, just like one year of your life is linked to the other..."
The main corridor is wide, with large paintings of old Mages to the sides. They are all dressed in royal Zan-Kel robes confirming their status and the badge of Phrayar, stating that they are registered with the Royal Temple and is trained in the local Monastic ethics.
"Very impressive,"you whisper under your breath,"And very old too."
"They're the best."a firm yet aged voice rung out startling you.
Behind you was an old man,in a long blue robe.He held a staff which
was taller than him.Your eyes trail his beard which hit the
floor, his other hand casually running it neatly down the front of
his robe. From the five pointed stars and sigils inscribed onto
it,you could deduce that he too was a wizard."Yes I am."he
replied, haugtily, seeing the shocked expression he so expected.
"Please do not try to speak yet,I know what you're going to say.
Allow me to introduce myself,I am Thephernagher. The Supreme Mage of
the Royal Temple,on my pilgrimage to the birth place of Throu. And
now let me introduce yourself...you aimless wanderer are travelling
across the country to find a treasure. You know not nor know how to
go about finding it,worst of all you can't turn back without it.
Poor soul,to have no knowledge of Victory and yet Defeat refuses to
accept you.But all shall change when you come here, this place is no
ordinary Inn.If you know the Legend well enough,
you will know that Throu never turns away someone in need. You just
need to pray hard enough."He announced, all in a single breath.
You take a step back, gaining an
overall look on this incredible clairvoyant."I am speechless."you
shrug your shoulders in astonishment.
"All in a day's work."he tells you,standing at a distance.
He resembled those pale faces in the paintings, serious, intelligent,
strange."Why are these paintings here?"
"They are the scholars of Throu, learning what Throu has written in
his scrolls. All their magick was taught and founded by Throu himself.
It is only customary that their work be acknowledged by others when
they move on to join Throu in his earthly domain."
"And you are one of them?"you ask, pointing to the painting next to
you.
"Going to be,"he nodded,"When I receive further instructions from
Throu to join him,my face will be hanging along this very corridor
too."
"You speak as if he's still here?"
"No doubt he is.You cannot see him but you can feel his presence. He
is among us,the air,the light,the rains,the plants...where there is
Nature there he is.It is his wish to be with everything at the same
time, this is the only way possible. You don't seem to be a firm believer of magick, and yet your eyes dance about on the mention of the word.
Why don't you follow your heart and go in the direction it tells you
to instead of resisting your urge?"
"I have no wish to be a magician."you claim,softly.
"You are bound to be what you were born to be.Time will reveal all,it just likes to play games sometimes."Thephernagher predicted. And with that he disappeared, leaving in his spot a stream of smoke.Somewhere somebody coughed,"Damn smoke, got to get rid of this part in the spell!"
You look at paintings again, more confused then ever... ...
There were some other people about, but
they were having their private conversations and didn't seem to want
disturbance...
There were a lot of doors, but most of them were locked."What's behind
these doors?"you think irritated that you couldn't see,"Maybe I'll
ask K-Lerb." you remembered the Tavern Master has told you somthing about a nice room to find company?Kept by... ...by...you couldn't remember his name....Was it Drab or Drew? But after walking down the corridor twice, you failed to locate the room.Disappointed you decide to give up.
There was a window, and outside the snow had begun to fall.Against
the backdrop of a full moon on a dark night, the Whitefox Alps in the
far distance rose like fangs of a hungry beast. The pine trees swayed
from side to side, almost shivering at your thought. You put on finger
onto thee windowpane and feel the icyness numbing your finger. But the
rest of your body was safely protected within this warm and cosy Inn.
A loud crash suddenly erupted from a small door by the window. You hadn't noticed it before,on the door was a badly carved Oak plate that said "The Vertual infinite Chatte room".
"So this is the room K-Lerb was talking about!"you think,it was strange to think that a room so well praised would be hidden away in a lonely corner...interested you open the door to explore...
