Halfway through your second drink,Sarah returned with a large plate on her left hand."Here."she put the plate down and glided away again.
"Oh she's a friendly lass isn't she!"K-Lerb smiled,bringing out a knife and a fork.
The pie was crisp, with tender chicken pieces overflowing at the seams. You devoured the crust, along with the stuffing like a hungry bear at the sight of Trout.Even as you run your knife through the pie,you could feel the hot steam rushing out from the insides of the pie.The aroma was almost too much to bear, you spent your time chewing up the chicken, enjoying the feeling of warm soft cooked meat rolling around your mouth while K-Lerb tells you about himself.
"I heard you have just returned from a pilgrimage." you ask the Tender, watching him let out a long sigh of relief at that question.
"Aye lad, I have. And it was like no other." He pulled up a chair and settled comfortably into the seat. Resting his heavy legs. "It was a journey fraught with strange occurances and mystical creatures. Indeed an experience unlike any other pilgrimage!"
"Tell me more," you ask, interested.
"Well it all started with a dream... ..." K-Lerb thought hard, trying to recollect exactly how everything went... ...
"I was on the edge of a cliff, hanging on for this dear wretched life of mine. How I got there I honestly do not remember, but then, just as Iwas about to give up and offer my body to the ghouls that waited below the cliff, somthing happened." he edged nearer to you, dropping his usual tone to a secretive whisper. "The God Telinari, Ruler of the Upper Zan-Kel appeared! He called to me and stretched out his hand, bringing me back up. And as a gesture of thanks, I offered to make a pilgrimage to his golden temple at the Telinari Pole. The next thing I knew, I was back in my quarters, tossing and turning in a pool of cold sweat."
"So you took off and travelled all the way to his temple eh."
"Well that sounded easy enough," he grunted," But little did I know, that the God had more for little old K-Lerb the retired Knight! Not more than three days after my departure from the Inn, I was immediatly thrown into the midst of chaos. I had to fight my way through the woods of the Harpers' Fear, where the Lord of Death Hismar resided. He challenged me to a duel of death, one which he knew he was sure to win. But as he was about to slay me right in the middle of my throat, I called out to the Gods, screaming out for them t help me. And like the magick of Throu himself, I was lifted off the ground and brought out of the woods by forces unseen.
K-Lerb closed his eyes to shut out the memory and fear, drowning his thoughts in a tankard of warm ale. "My lonesome traveller. I am tired after that recount, tary a few more days and I shall gather my strength to relate more of what happened... ..."
With that, he stood up and bade you goodnight. Moving on to wipe the tops of some tables near the fireplace.
What would you like to do now?
