The sweet smell of lotus incense fills the temple as you step through the great doors. Yellow robes hung from the pillars cascade onto the marble floor and before you sit several Tibetan monks on both sides of the room. Chanting to the beat of a drum. And right in front of you is the gargantuan statue of the Amitabha Buddha. You walk up and bow lightly, paying your respects.
Turn the Ancient Mandala!
The Mandala has been the symbol of peace and change in Tibetan culture. It is created by the monks laboriously getting on their knees to pour grains of coloured sand onto the floor. And once created, it is destroyed to remind all of us that nothing is permanent. The Mandala is also made by people who have wishes yet to come true. The Temple of Amitabha Buddha is offering anyone in need to turn their own Ancient Mandala for peace and positive Karma. Everytime the Mandala is turned, the Tibetan Prayer below is repeated. If you would like to turn your own Mandala or just to do your part for the Universe, please click on the Tibetan Prayer below.
