The Way of the Liberator

by G. S. Reis

The Way of the Liberator Centuries ago, Evil has covered the earth with a veil of darkness. The armies of Chaos spreaded like an implacable plague, carrying villainy and terror. Justice was extinguished and freedom banished from the face of the World. They remained alive only in the stories and songs of the minstrels. Even hope was agonizing.

But now you came, as once it was prophesied. You, who has taken the ardent bite of the serpent on your chest and triumphed upon the poison that tried to dominate your mind, must traverse the Way.

You will return to the damp jungle where the serpent has made its lair and will extinguish the profane flame where the power of the damned grows. You will cross the gates of three hells and will walk down the abyss that leads to the misty swamp, where you will face the horror that has found a residence in your soul—for only there, where duality dwells, you will find total purification.

You will arise from the slime, as strong as the stone trees that will greet you: gloomy cadavers, erect amongst the own shadows of a lifeless forest, majestic monuments to remember a past of splendor.

But not even death is a relief in these times of misfortune. You will see her face and allow yourself to be devoured. You will walk over treacherous stairs within her throat and will take the power from the one who disturbs the holly rest of the disembodied. But you still will hear her, Death, in her seductive singing, in the silver waters, calling you to her arms.

You will walk in the dark entrails of the rock and will defeat the most terrible beast. You will not retreat, yet the dangers seem to be too great. You will not hesitate before the scorching sands that, extending until the horizon, try to suffocate life that bursts in thorns to tear the pale shroud. For you know that the largest desert spreads in the souls of the defeated. And the one who holds the Sword of Justice will always find help in his journey.

You will find your army, waiting for you to lead them. You will guide them and they will fight at your side. But the final battle is reserved only to you.

You will enter the foul fortress where Evil resides. You will hear tortured souls cry in eternal pain. You will see walls bleed the torment of thousands braves. You will step on decomposing remains of sacrificed children. You will breathe the ashes of those who agonized in the infernal flames.

But you carry the Sword of Justice, never maculated by the blood of the innocent. Only this sword, guided by your hand, may defeat the Master of Chaos. Only this sword may tear the Darkness. Only you may bring Light back, for you are the bearer of Truth. For you are the chosen of the Heavens.

You are the Liberator.
