My Canvas Of Years
My story is almost finished
My painting is drying and done
I cannot say I've lost, and yet
I cannot say I've won.
I've painted the world with a mixture of color
And I've used such a strong, heavy brush
Some parts of the canvas were lightly tinted
While some glowed so vibrant and lush.
For tears from the bad days, were colors of blue
That fell like a strong, winter rain
Then golden yellow for the heavenly sunshine
That peeked through to help ease the pain.
This canvas has taken a long time to paint
It has grown larger with each passing year
Now it cries for just one finishing touch
To help make the meaning become clear.
So frame this canvas with bright sunny smiles
And touch it so softly with love
For the artist has finished her own masterpiece
And is waiting to rest up above.
