Terry Bowman
I knew I was going to like her
when she said my friend
had an Austin Powers
look going on.
She sipped her Molson Golden
with a look of amusement
and wondered aloud
why a smile had crossed my face.
We talked for a moment
my tongue disfunctional
as it usually is
in these situations.
I couldn't begin to confess
that her simple presense
had warmed my heart and
eased my soul.
Then I let her ease down the bar
and out of my life
regretting words unspoken
and chances untaken.
Opportunity knocks for the
bold of spirit
but I'd left my courage
at home in the closet.
