Born 6:19pm, Thursday, September 1st, 1977. I grew up on a beach in Florida, just east of Orlando. My younger sister, Heidi, and my best friend, Eva, live there now.
I just finished my B.A. in Psychology and Performing Arts, and I'm currently looking at grad programs in Creative Arts Therapy. I also need a job.
I first came to New York summer before last, to work as a theatre and dance director at a camp for Brooklyn fifth-graders. I moved here again in May to study in Tisch's experimental theatre wing. I met some of you in June, but spent the rest of the summer going between FL and NY, trying to take care of my sister. In August I moved in with Marc (Sane) and I've spent the past few months finishing school Tues-Thurs and spending weekends here.
Introduction to goth? My father was an English teacher and drama coach at the local high school and it was cheaper to bring me to rehearsals than hire a babysitter. So I danced around with the black-lipsticked teenagers and developed obsessive crushes on boot-wearing boys in black eyeliner twice my age. I remember a lot of Bauhaus, Siouxie, the Cure and way too much Poe recitation. I also had way too much classical theatre, voice and dance training, so I looked like Wednesday Addams and sounded like Kirsten Dunst. I read a good deal of Poe, Shakespeare, Grimm's, and the Bronte girls.
When I was 14, I got involved with the goth scene on the coast, but it was small, bonfires and gatherings mostly, with two to three nights a week at clubs and coffeehouses. At 15, I started going into Orlando, to goth nights at Visage, Sunset, Church Street, Angst and1784.
I listen to a lot of The Cranes, Switchblade Symphony, The Shroud, Diamonda Galas, Graeme Revell and (completely ungoth) Tori Amos.
Computer-wise, I worked on a couple of local bbs's in FL, I'm on the Raven's goth list there. I did some web design and administration my freshman and sophomore years of college, but now I just try to maintain my pages and sites for Gaiman's Death and Delirium characters.
