Participating in Chimeras, a work by Ginger Pierce Davis, was extremely beneficial to my learning and social experience in college. It was demanding putting such a great deal of time into the play, learning lines, and perfecting the performance, but it was well worth the energy. The play was not just hard work though, it was entertaining. Rehearsals were relaxed and informative, a time for imagination and feedback. From the very beginning Ginger allowed her creation to be ours, to get what we could from the piece and in turn give back our own thoughts, feelings and efforts to it. Her goal was not for us to perform a play to the exact specifications that were wrtten on paper, but to instead make a combined effort to create a work that best presented the abilities and talents of the actors to the audience. This experience has allowed me to test my limits as a performer and to experiment with new elements of acting and dance.
