You know, I cannot even remember what year this event took place. I think it was 1989, or perhaps '88. This event was a big deal. This would be the first time in remebered past that Lucasfilm was going to open-up the archives, and display some fo the treasures stored within. It took place at the Marin County Fair, I guess sometime in the summer. We knew the lines were going to be long, but didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. Not only were the lines over 5 hours long to get in, it was well into the '90s and humid to boot. I felt really sorry for the guy in the suit pictured below. Once inside, it was like heaven. There were props from the Star wars trilogy, the Indy movies, Star Trek, Willow, and countless others. You could almost touch Darth Vader, and Yoda was inches away. It was worth every second of the five hour wait, well, except for the HORRIBLE sunburn I got while in line. I have scanned some pictures from that day, click on them to see larger versions. |
