When I visited your web page the mention of the necronomicon is mentioned several times that it is a fabrication of Hp lovecrafts mind. This is untrue. I have a hobby of studying theology both the good and bad, You have to know something about evil in order to stop it. The Bible is God the Father Jesus Christ's book. Necronomicon is Satans, Lucifer's book. Although the writing of the Necronomicon which DOES mean Book of dead names was written hundreds of years before Christ . My point is that Lovecraft did not make up the necronomicon, the book of the dead, the spell book of hell. I know this because I have seen the book only 401 were published in the early 20th century , before Lovecrafts carrer. Now these were just copies and are very rare to find. I did not read the book not only because it is in Arabic but I would rather save my soul. The owner of the book sincerely warned me that If I did read it whatever happened to me was not his responsability. Do I flipped through the pages and gave It back. When I picked it up a very cold chill went through me and I left because God was telling me to. I have the place where the book is but I warn you I f you find the book Do not translate it . You could not control its power.
God save you.
Michael Henchman responded to a UseNet posting of this message (because the post does not appear in DejaNews, I have had to reconstruct it from quoted material):
The story may be off base regrading the number of copies, etc. and its origin, but the experience the person had with the cold chill is one to which I can attest. When I was in college some 25 years ago, I had heard of the NM (my abbrev.), and of all the dire things about it. There was a group on campus that was into alternative religion study and I asked them about it-- they did not have much info, other than the caveat that it should be avoided if one happens to find a copy. In 1977, five years later, I was in a bookstore in Texas-- not some obscure little hole in the wall, but a bookstore in a mall. There on the shelf with other parapsychology books were two bound editions of the NM, all black, with embossed raised lettering and figures on the covers. I could not believe my eyes, since the books looked new-- after all the hoopla, I wondered who was publishing new editions. So I waltzed over and picked one up and started to flip through it. I ended up putting the book down fairly quickly, forgetting that I wanted to check the publisher info, because as I stopped on a few pages and began to try and read the incredible souding words, I got a serious case of the cold chills and slammed it closed. Again, I could not believe it was on the shelf, especially considering its effect. Those of you reading this may find it outlandish in view of the alleged obscurity of the NM, but I am a rational person who works in a very down-to-earth job as a telephone technician. I haven't thought about this incident for many years, until seeing this news article. Why the book was there I'll never know, but the NM truly exists, as I held, very briefly, a copy in my hands. Interestingly, I am not a Satanist, nor do I believe in the Christian concept of an evil one (I do believe in the Creator, however) yet I still felt so very strange when trying to read that book.

The only way to stop any bad things the Necronomicon does to you or others is to burn it. I'm speaking from experience don't fuck with this book!

To: clore@columbia-center.orgThough you may NOT choose to believe me, these stories of people having evil experiences are 100% true. The power of the Necronomicon is insane in evil hands. I personally know that everything in 1 version of the NM is true. Im sure you all wanna hear why the book levitates and all that stuff. Here is the reason. All of these things that are called "gods" in the Necronomican were actually demons. These demons are also described in the bible as certain things. Now, suppose you were a demon. Who would be the most potential victum? Those of us that are non-religious (christianity, catholic, etc.) and are sceptical would be the best influences for these demons. Thus, these demons are allowed to manifest them selves in the form of these supernatural enemies to influence people away from god.
By this point im guessing you all are saying "Damn christian, being a goody good." You couldnt be more wrong. I am friends with people of the Sumerian blood lines that are "given rights" by the elder demons to practice these summonings with great ease. One day we decided to get together and find out what these "gods" of the Necronomicon are. If these were truely elder gods, the following would have been the exact opposite: Because these people didnt like me as a christian but liked me as a person, I had them take an attempt at summoning something to do their wish against me. They performed the rights and the summoning was a success. But, I was unscathed by these as they could not touch me. As soon as they took an attempt at me, I felt incredable warm. The demon then disappeared and everything went normal.
Again, my friends tried it without my knowing on another person that was not of God. This person got into a car accident the next day. Thus, the Necronomicon is evil, it is full of the powers of evil and it will try to influence peoples minds. If you attempt to practice anything out of it... god help you. Also, I have seen the demons including Chutulu. It is not a good sight. Stay away from the Necronomicon.

: to tell me.)Dear Mr. Harms,
The Necronomicon Files site is indeed impressive. A very scholarly examination of the nefarious Book of the Mad Arab. I've got it bookmarked.
Before I relate this next bit, let me just say that I am in complete agreement with your views on the Necronomicon, I am not a member of a cult, and I don't wear black all that often. On to my story.
I know this girl, we used to hang out a bit. She's a proud member of the goth sub-culture. Aside from wearing vampire teeth and going to death metal concerts, the weird thing about her is that she claims she is part of a (the?) "Necronomic" coven of witches that takes a tome called the Necronomicon to be its holy book. She told me this around the time I began delving into Lovecraft, so the next time I saw her, I assaulted her with a barrage of questions, such as 'Do you know who wrote it?', 'Have you ever heard of Cthulhu?', 'Have you read from the book?', etc. Her replies were vague. She claimed that the Necronomicon was always a work in progress, that, over the centuries, many hands had helped pen it. She didn't know how to pronounce Cthulhu, either. Or at least she did not pronounce it the way many Lovecraftianites do. She called him "Kuh-oot-ah-loo", which really bothered me after a while. This girl also claimed to have read from the Necronomicon, but used the typical occultist way out by saying that she had made "vows of secrecy" and "could say no more" when I asked her of its contents.
I interrogated her further and found that she had no knowledge of HPL whatsoever. She owned a copy of the Simon Necronomicon, but took it to be inferior to the ancient volume which she had described. I tried to be nice about it, but there was simply no way I could take her seriously. I explained to her that any Necronomicon that she had seen was a fake inspired by the stories of a horror writer from the '20's. She used the "He must have got the idea from somewhere" response.
So, I gave up trying to reason with her. Since then, I have purchased the Simon Necronomicon myself (to see what all the talk was about) and got a good laugh out of it. It certainly looks sinister with its bold-white- letters-against-black-spine on my bookshelf. I let her borrow some of my spare DEL REY Lovecraft editions (after I let her alone with the Necronomicon thing, she began to show some interest in him.) Maybe I struck some reasonable chord inside her head? I even had her look at HPL's fictitious 'History of the Necronomicon' and pointed out the errors with Alhazred's name and the true meaning of the book's title compared to what HPL thought it meant when he came up with it.
But I have to say that the whole experience was kind of fascinating. Even though I knew I was listening to pure misinformation when she was answering my inqueries, my interest in the matter of the book and its history in general was thoroughly fueled.
And if one is to make an adjective out of 'Necronomicon' wouldn't 'Necronomiconic' be more correct than 'Necronomic'? Even 'Necronomical' sounds closer to the mark.

To: clore@columbia-center.orgyou all must seem to be forgetting... it is the book of the DEAD... and a prophecy...have any of you thought to look around at the world, and see what Gods are ruling right now??? like the Lord, the Father...(Bible), and the goddess or whatever it is that those of wiccan worship. it is to say... look at the world like you are a dead person, walking still in life, because you are trapped here... and the world is a reflection of your soul... I could go on into much detail about these kinds of truths, like how it was the VISION of the mad prophet, right?, so wouldn't it be some kind of vision like what is happening NOW??? like the body of God... look around people, the stuff is happening... remember what is said by the editor... it has the power to make manifest things that are not... anyways... how you see the world is a reflection of how you are looking at it right??? also , all that we are is the result of the consequences, results, and influences from our own past which builds our beliefs, like our parents or whatever saying you can't do this or you can't do that... your own concience then tells you you cannot do this or that, so we are trapped within the boundaries that our forefathers have placed on us. anyways... ye shalll be judged by your faith... faith is belief, right? this from the Bible... I have read the whole necronomicon... fearlessly, and it is only evil to those who see with evil eyes... and those demons people see are from thier own mind... I too experienced and still am, little voices or things like that... but it is the power of the reputation of the book, and ones tendency to believe what it states... it all depends on how prepared ones mind is for it. the demons I see are those evils which have been influenced into people, and being expressed... and one taking it personally when something is said to me or whatever, and it is like my own concience burning me with hell fire. has anyone ever thought about SYMBOLISM??? metaphorically speaking??? like the tongue as a sword, or a God as the ruling faith, or a body of God as the WHOLE of the people worshipping that certain faith??? it isn't hard to see after certain searching into ones own soul. like try questioning your exsistance... why are you who you are, and how is it that you are who you are, and things like did life start when you were born... I could go into MUCH detail if you like, but I fear it may make some insane... I know I try to explain some of the things I know to be FACT, and normal folks cannot understand. I have had a lurking fear now for a while that I may be the cause of life... but know it not to be true, but I see the world thru the eyes of a God, as we are ALL gods. it all just tends to lie where your faith lies... we preach Jesus on the cross as a stumblingblock... but to those who have wisdom and understanding, the POWER of God... one must understand the full meaning of every single word.

Newsgroups: alt.necronomiconok for starters the history of the Necronomicon goes farther back than H.P. Lovecraft. It extends back to Babylon and Sumer. When the armies invaded and destroyed Babylon the various leaders tore chapters from the book taking them for themselves. Hitler himself got his hands on it and rebound the book in the flesh of the Jews, that's where the stories of it being bound in flesh come from. I suggest doing some research on a subject before stating that it truly doesn't exist.

About a year ago I got my second version of the Necronomicon (my Christian Mother took the first) and my then-best friend asked to borrow it. When he brought it back to me the next day he had some doozies to tell me. 1) The book levitated itself in his room, so he locked it in a safe, put the safe in his bathroom and closed the bathroom door. 2) When he awoke the next morning, the bathroom was about 15 degrees colder than the rest of the house and the safe was sitting open. When I took the book back home with me that night, after hearing these stories, I slept with it under my pillow and had the best night's sleep in my life. I've heard similar srories from others though; floating books, chills... and so on... I'm sorry this was so l;ong, but if anyone has any insights on these events, or had events like these. Lemmie know... I'll be coming around again, so there's no need for e-mail.

There is no chance of Lovecraft writing the Necronomicon as a copy was, at once point but I think it's still there, in the British Museum in London. That was carbon dated to around 700 BC.
So unless Lovecraft wrote the idea for the book about a few hundred years before he was born, it means somebody else did (i.e. Al Azif).
Define coincidence: Lovecraft had a friend who was working at the British Museum and looking into something on the sly for him at the time he got all these ideas. Made the connection, yet?
Lovecraft, while not mentality sound, did not have a made so mentality out-of-sync to write something as bad as the Necronomicon.

> won't find anything. They deny they had a copy because they are in a country strongly influenced by the Christian church. A religion which went to great lengths to destroy the Necronomicon. They were not successful. Since the British Museum is bootlicking Christianity and denied the Necronomicon because it didn't want Christianity to frown on it.
Rumours are persistant that relics were hidden a North Wales mine during the Wars of the last century.
The place to look is the mines. Check any records or people who worked there at the time. I will start my search there.
Anyway, nobody who has any knowledge of the content of the real Necronomicon would try to give you a complete copy. It's far too dangerous.
> But "Al Azif" means nothing in Arabic. It was a mistake Lovecraft

> _Vathek_ instead of a proper source. The name of the original Necronomicon writer was not Al Azif. I use that name to avoid confusion with people who are used to using his name. Looking through various texts, I think his name could have been Abd Al Azrad which means:
ABL = "Worshipper/Slave of"
AL = "The"
AZRAD = "Great Strangler/Great Devourer"
Anyway, I know this guy, speaks and reads both Hebrew and Arabic. I have to check it out with him.

> on the Lovecraft letters transcription project and would love to hear
> about this.I'll try to find out her name. All I heard was he would take notes off what she told him. He had some sort of writer's block at the time and was looking for ideas.
One thing I did find most amazing... The religious book of the Muslims, the Koran (or something like that) has been know to mention Great Cthulthu himself (Arabic word = "khadhulu").
Cthulthu was a pre Judeo-Christian god. Even before the Islamic religion came, he was worpshipped. THAT I CAN BACK UP WITH EVIDENCE. That means HPL could not have invented him.
Now this is coming from a religion that can accept and live alongside other religions. Unlike Christianity, which seem to think that any other religions are the spawn of Satan and must be eridicated.
Now they don't want the Necronomicon around, they believe theirs is the only way. Now the the Muslims can accept that perhaps their god, Allah is not the only one. Christians cannot accept that the Muslims worship the same god as them so their not going to accept something like the Necronomicon.
Lovecraft LIED when he said the Necronomicon was his creation. He was being pressured by Christianity fanatics, who wanted the Necronomicon to remain a forgetten past. Plus the knowledge of the Necronomicon didn't up his sanity either. He was so scared of it he had to deny it.
I know of a page from a translation of the Necronomicon. This page was made before HPL was born. Explain that (and no, I'm not lying so don't bother giving that hypothesis). How do I know it was made before HPL? It was carbon-dated. It is a page from Dr. Dees translation. It was made 1586 or there abouts.
The only way you can convince me that the Necronomicon is invented by HPL is by proving to me that HPL is at least two thousand years old. Then I'll believe you, but HPL still might be wrong as I will not believe anybody with his mental history (which was questionable even before he read the Necronomicon). When he said he invented the history, he lied again. He just read the real history and claimed it was his.
Shame old Abl Al Azrad hadn't heared of copyrighting his work. Tsk.

Members of the occult I have read about who claim to have experimented with the Necronomicon claim that the demons inside have been summoned and they seem to give accurate accounts of them. This, I find deeply disturbing.
> >Anyway, nobody who has any knowledge of the content of the real

The reason I know is because I have read many versions of the Necronomicon. None of them are accurate enough to learn the truth behind the book but they give me insight into the matter. It does place a psychological strain on the mind merely by reading it (or at least, a fairly accurate copy of it).
I would not recommend trying to summon anything up. Not that I have tried but I have researched into it and even if it fails (which I doubt it will) it could cost you quite a bit of sanity. Look on the internet, I have seen various texts to back that theory up.

In the Middle Ages, when monasteries were isolated in remote valleys, the only contact some of these places had with the outside world were only once a year when a monk from Rome would come around with a huge, black book tied to a mule's back. In this book, he would place the names of all the monks who had died during the previous year. This census taking monk would then take the book back to Rome to update the records of the monks back in Rome. This book was called in Latin, NECRONOMICON. The Book of the Names of the Dead. This is the real origin of the Necronomicon.

But Arthur is a legend but is backed up by some evidence so if arthur does exist so does the Grail, the Necronomicon Exmortus, and Excalbur.

Surely they are slightly interested and unsure. Ok I don't want to start more fights so I'll get on with it. I got the 'fake' version at a Waldenbooks store a few years ago. Now like others were saying, I think alot of it deals with how much you believe, because I really really believed in it. That night when I first came home with it, I had this dreadful feeling. I went to sleep with the TV on, because I felt scared. As I was falling asleep, I heard this loud voice in my head, and it woke me right up. It was like something yelled in my ear, but I'm not sure what it said. Sorta like how the mad arab heard "kutulu" in his head after his experience with the dark priests (if it is true). It was odd. Then the next day, I was kinda tired and drowsy, and I was falling asleep a little, and I open up my eyes, and I see these strange things in front of me.. it sorta looked like hairs on a film strip. But they were there it seemed. It was strange. Now I imagine I'm gonna get laughed at and people will say "yeah right loser", but I don't care. I'm just stating some of my beliefs and my little experience. It seemed like my life was going to hell, but I'm not really sure if it was from the book, cause everyone goes through those stages. But anyway I was convinced it was, and I burned the damn thing. (go ahead laugh). A few months later, I had this incredible urge to buy it again, which I did.. I would read it all the time, it was almost like an obsession. Maybe just intense interest though. Anyway I still have it today, and I won't open it because I don't want to become enthralled with it again. Oh another thing, it says inside not to let anyone read it.. and someone looked in it once. Well a week later, I was in a bad car accident, and my best friend died. Also, I was having trouble with my friend, (girl problems sheesh), and I was actually praying to gods that something bad would happen to him.. I was really messed up. And now look? I even feel that perhaps I was protected by unseen forces, or the book. I've never actually tried the rituals or anything but who knows. Like I said, it's all in how much you believe, because I think the human mind is everything. All of our minds together is what the gods probably are. But who knows.. There are alot of UFO sightings lately. I believe that the ancient ones and and elder gods are mostly alien. The gates and what not lead to other planets and dimensions.. hmm I can't explain all this the way I see it because it's already starting to come out wrong and make me sound dumb. Anyway, the bookstore Necronomicon is probably a fake, but I believe it still works if you believe and that is it taken from authentic Sumerian Script and what not. The real one is probably somewhere.. I read that the Germans (Hitler era) may have had one in one of their vaults, and it was bound in the skin of the holocaust victims. Ever think that perhaps the Sumerians are from Atlantis? I think Atlantis may even be part of this whole thing... I think perhaps the Druids came from there too, for I believe they worship a water god called Absu, which is alike with the Sumerians I think?? (anyone can correct me and teach me here ya know) But perhaps Atlantis was the center of the earth's magic and then destroyed. Perhaps Atlantis is R'lyeh, considering R'lyeh is a sunken ciy.. the Druids/sumerians trapped Kutulu there, and then fled to the other continents and sunk Atlantis. And with Lovecraft, I believe he may have known some stuff and wrote about it. Perhaps his writing is his theories on everything, but he was just afraid to admit it or something. He has incredible connections with Aleister Crowley too. I think I read about that on a web page once. They're lives hook together with a few coincidences. Ok well I'll end this now. I'm not trying to start arguments or anything.. I don't care if you criticize me, but there's really no reason to. I'm just stating a few ideas. Ok respond with thoughts and ideas and tell me where I'm wrong and right. :)

Newsgroups: alt.magickThe necronemicon is a very evil book. Conjuring demons from it comes back on you hard. I payed the price for using evil and dark magick. Any one who practices dark magicks will get the Dieties' GREATEST WRATH. Don't do it.

But I own the workings and basis of the actual Necronomicon. It was found over 1 month ago. For those not familiar with it it is the actual law of the dead. So far we've translated only a few pages of the book which is over 12000 pages long. If you are interrested in purchasing this book please contact me "MRRABBIT8@aol.com" Or just mail for more information we have confirmed its origionality by 15 Very distinguished Historians, and we have offers from 3 Universitys to purchase the book as well. So please send me your Comments/offers whatever!

Subject: Re: NecronomiconThe papers contained within the book are dated 150 years B.C. the cover had to apparently be remade because the old one fell apart completely but the cover is dated 1834, A.D. For References as to authenticity:
I have 4 Certificates from:
Mike Bogdan (Cleveland Institute of History)
Daniel Graves (Ohio State University)
Robert G. Harding (Department of Education and History)
Samuel Thomas (Grover Institute of National History)I've sent the book now to Harvard for extra tests, and from there it goes to penn state (they're making an offer on the book as well)
If you wish to buy the book I will sell it to you, but not cheaply! And I would ask that I could have the translations once the money has been recieved.

Subject: Re: NecronomiconI found it in an egyption gold mine deserted, I tripped over it, when me and a few of my friends explored the surroundings, we were gathering information for the geological gazette when I found it, we excavated its container (all carved in marbel) and we opened it up, it had a letter from the deciple that hid it saying that there was another copy but it ofcourse didn't say where, there was a chapter of the book that shredded itself as soon as it hit the suns rays, and when we brought it out though, the rest of it was amazingly intact and the color still remained (elderberry oil) which isn't meant to last long. The papers that came with it that didn't seam that they were part of the book seemed to be burned, we're investigating the cause. Let me know of other questions.
