Some of them I don't see much of anymore... and usually I feel that that is unfortunate. The reason why they're on this page though is because at one point or another, they were an extremely important part of my life, and I'm prone to nostalgia.
Also, little pictures have been included for your viewing pleasure. There are not pictures for everybody, but, hey, as I get more, I'll put 'em up, ok???
Ok, here we go... (in no particular order)
I have known Mercury for... oh, years now. His father and my mother went to the same church, and since he was only a year ahead of me, we were oftentimes in the same Sunday School class. (yes, wipe that shocked look off your face.. I attended Sunday school almost every Sunday up until I was 17)
So yeah, we've known other for a while.
Merc is tall and handsome with dishwater blonde hair & blue eyes. Funky sense of humor. Just don't mention "Father Breadwinner" to him.
The girlfriend/fiancee of Mercury, whom she is planning to wed in Sept of 99, I guess. Only having met her last fall around this time, I don't know her all that well, but I do happen to know that she is a terribly nice person, and she laughs after she finishes just about every sentence- and that's not in a bad way either. Plus, she's got a nice laugh, so it's all good.
Blonde hair, blue eyes... her and Mercury look like they were made for each other. Come to think of it, they act like it too... Have you ever known a couple that would make you absolutely ill, if it wasn't for the fact that it's all genuine? I think that that would be Merc & the Lady K. They're just so... perfect. They fit each other well. I can see them growing old together, and then dying within a week of each other when they're like, 99.
Ted (the Bellhop) is one of those whom I seldom see anymore... he moved to Milwaukee a few months ago, and just kinda dropped out of sight. I miss him.
As you may or may not have noticed, his pseudonym was shamelessly ripped from the movie "Four Rooms". While in real life I don't think that Ted ever worked as a Bellhop (he's actually usually a waiter) their mannerisms are much the same... fidget-y, always moving. Strangely enough, people love it when he's waiting on them. I'm not kidding... that guy walks away with some of the biggest tips I've ever seen.
Ted is on the tall-side. The last time I saw him he had shaved his head, so his hair was, for the first time in the entire time I knew him, his natural hair colour. (Dark-ish brown). He's got very arresting eyes... they're deep-set and blue blue blue. A terribly weird personality... but I mean that in the best way possible. One of the best conversationalists that I have ever had the pleasure of engaging in a conversation with.
Kelpie... what can I say? Kelpie was/is a good friend I never see anymore... she used to be a big raver girl always going to parties, gettin' all messed up, ect. Very strong personality... sometimes a week after the last time you saw her you would say something or make a gesture, or whatever, na you would just say, Oh my God, I'm acting like Kelpie. She just rubs off on you. It's inevitable.
Blonde hair, pretty grey/blue/green eyes, the most amazing dimples I have ever seen in my life.
Oh, and one more thing... she's now a Born Again Christian.
Boy Boy Boy... O.k., so, I met Boy my Sophomore year of high school... he was a freshman, but was in my German II class because he had had German I in 8th grade at the school that he had gone to in Missouri. Hence, he had been booted up a level at the high school.
Strange to think sometimes how delicately our lives are orchestrated... for if we never would've had that class together, we never would've become friends. Strangely terrifying and weird, all at the same time.
Anyways, so because we had that German class together, that is how Boy (a freshman), Drake (a junior), and I (a sophomore) became friends.
We had a great year, during which time we had to make a murder/mystery video for the class in German, which had a continuous running gag ("Ach, ein pfennig!"), and at the end of which we blew up the world. Fun Stuff.
Boy- Pretty blue eyes, and naturally brown/unnaturally Blue/Black/Red hair, that grows in fabulous spiraling curls. Great hair. A real sweetheart.
Girl is Boy's girlfriend. (yeah, what genius did it take to figure that one out, right?) I met Girl the night I found out I was pregnant. I'm sure that made a hell of a first impression.
Girl has flaming red hair, and blueblue eyes, and is even shorter than me, which I did not know for the first months that I knew her. She wore heels, ok?
She's funny and engaging and charming, and she was hated by my ex-boyfriend because he could not control her. (He doesn't like that in a person) She's a real sweetheart, and I'm glad that Boy is going out with her.
Drake and Boy and Girl all live together in a tiny apartment at the top of a house owned by a Philosophy professor.
And Drake is nick-named Drake because he sculpts the most wonderful dragons you have ever seen in your entire life. If he lets me, I'm going to put up pictures of the one that I photographed.
Drake is, of course, the Drake that was mentioned up when I was talking about Boy.
Drake is mildly tallish, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He's got the body of a model.. he did martial arts all through high school, and then he worked for a landscaper for two years, so he's built.
One of the last of a dying breed- chivalrous, sensitive, a true gentleman.
Quibble is one of my ex-roommates. Another terribly interesting person. (Then again, now that I think of it, everyone I know is interesting in some way, shape, or form.)
Quibble is tall- 6' 4" if I remember correctly, and terribly thin. Brown hair and blue eyes. He works at a horrible job where he gets abused constantly.
I used to love living with him, because when the stars were in the right alignment and I would be up when he would come home from work we'd have the strangest conversations... the coming of the New Ice Age, when the world is going to get bombarded by asteroids and we're all going to die, his father, his family (he says that there's two sides to his family... the insane side, which if I remember right is his father's side of the family, and the immortal side of his family, which would be his mother's side. Apparently these people don't age at all.
See, I found this terribly interesting due to the fact that all of my immediate family is disgustingly normal.
I miss living with him. We had a lot of fun, and he was a good roommate.
Alle could probably be classified as one of my bestest friends in the entire world. Unfortunately, while she used to live 10 minutes away, she now lives approximately 1657 minutes away. (thanks Mapblast!) Anyways, to get to where she lives now, she traveled all around the country, and sampling local flavor, even going so far as to eat grits. (which I believe I warned her against at some point.) Anyways, she met all sorts of interesting folks and saw all sorts od interesting things that she wrote to me about... people living in an 8-person-town in the middle of the desert in Nevada, a shack nailed over with hubcaps in Kentucky, a man that wrote her a poem in the cab of his truck, and then chased her down on the street to give it to her, all because she smiled at him. (Don't get the wrong idea, he wasn't creepy-like, he was nice.) Hell, she was even in a rockslide. Some people have all the fun.
So anyways, she settled down in Arizona, where she now lives & works, and I guess is pondering going to school. But the thing is, that that really kindof sucks, because now whenever we want to have one of our famous conversations about nothing, it costs an arm and a leg.
For example, Two years ago this fall I was over at her place, and we were just talking about... nothing... but I remembered that I had heard somewhere that everytime you learn something new, your brain gets a wrinkle. Well, we thought that this was way cool, so we decided to see if we could *feel* our brains wrinkling. So I sat and concentrated on my brain while Alle pulled out The Cambridge FactFinder, and read me interesting things the I Did Not Know, but it didn't matter, because I couldn't feel my brain wrinkling anyways.
Scottie was not nick-named Scottie because he's Scotch. (He's not. As a matter of fact, he's Mexican. His father was a Mexican with green eyes, though.) And he wasn't nick-named Scottie because he has A Scottish Terrier. (He's got a cat.) And he wasn't nick-named Scottie because he's got a thing for Star Trek. No, he's nick-named Scottie because he can do the most incredibly credible Scottish accent I've ever heard come from the south side of Milwaukee. He actually managed to get a girl from Wales to believe he actually was from Scotland.
I met Scottie through Ted (the Bellhop), last September (Sept 97) and we've hung out a little bit since then, although not as much as we'd like, because we live so far away. We've gone to a couple of parties together, and Scottie & Kelpie & Mij & wandered Madison one night because Kelpie & I were homeless, so I guess Madison seemed a proper place to be. (It was that night that Mij bought us all supper from Rocky Rococo's. Wasn't that sweet?)
Anyways, Scottie's got darkish brown-black hair, and dark brown eyes, (gee, go figure, he's Mexican) and his middle name is Jesus. Isn't that too cool?
Mij and I have a lot of history. See, I had a crush on him in the 6th grade, and it lasted all the way until 7th grade, when a friend of mine asked him out for me- completely without my knowledge. We had a typical 7th grade relationship... we never talked, we passed a few notes, he gave me his bracelet to wear. Then, after a month, he dumped me for a 6th grader, and I gave him his bracelet back.
Then, come high school, we were hanging out in the same crowd, and we started talking again, and I even used him as a model for a painting I did.
He's a great guy, with the best way of saying things... you tell him something really cool, and he'll just sit there with this great "pondering in wonderment" look on his face, and he'll just go "Wooooooah.". It's very signature. Nobody can do it as well as Mij can.
Mij- Black hair, blue eyes, girl-attracter, and a snazzy dresser.
Blinky. Blinky used to be Blanky, but due to a common mispronunciation, he just became Blinky.
Blinky I met through my first boyfriend, Flipper. He's kinda quiet, and slightly goofy, but on occasion he will just come out with a gem of a comment... something really profound and meaningful, and it just makes so much sense. Kinda like the 'Silent Bob' character from Kevin Smith's movies (Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy)
Blinky is tall... not sure how tall, 6-foot-something, and uber-skinny. Normally at some point during the time that we hang out I will pick him up in my arms, and walk around with him like that. It's fun. It kinda began at a toga party during our high-school years, when I picked up Blinky, Mij, Flipper, and two other boys... I think Cyco was one... Oh, and Hagen was probably the other. Which kinda became a running joke, that I picked up five guys in one night.
Anyways, Blinky's going to be the father of my next child... because we both like the name 'Ian' for a boy, and since it would look really dumb for two friends to have two boys with the same name, we just decided that we should have a child together, and name him Ian. The only thing is that we're not quite sure how we can guarantee that it will be a boy (and a little girl isn't really an Ian), so we're going to put it off until modern medicine can make sure that we only conceive a boy.
Um, yeah. Or something like that.
Matter sometimes gets modified into 'Er, but they are one and the same person.
He hung around with the Crew too, but I never really got a chance to meet him until after he came back from boot camp. (There's a picture of a bunch of us meeting him at the airport... he's the one standing in the middle, looking all military-like.)
Anyhoo... he was the one that got me the job at Serigraph that I just quit in August. We had a lot of fun working together & stuff... getting in ink-fights, oh yeah...
I used to see him a lot (duh, we worked together), but since he's in school, and I'm in school, we really don't get to hang out that much. That's life, I guess.
Charles is yet another person that I met through my ex-boyfriend, Flipper. He's tall (I keep telling him that he keeps getting taller every time I see him, which he keeps telling me isn't true, I'm just getting shorter), brown hair, brown eyes, and- I'm serious- just the nicest guy. I wish he didn't live so far away, because I always enjoy hanging out with him. He's just one'a those genuinely good people, y'know??
Anyways, he's in school, majoring in something that I wish I could remember. I should remember, he just told me last night... but I don't. He's got, like, two semesters to go, so wow... I think he will be the first one of our group to graduate college. Neat!
Duckie. Well, Duckie is pretty much the newest acquaintance of all the people on here... We had originally met at New Rock Fest two years ago. (New Rock Fest was this big concert-type-thing sponsored by a Milwaukee radio station, where you pay about $10 a ticket and get to see about 10-15 bands play. Not bad.) So, Jon and I were up in the lawn seats (the best place to be), and there, standing behind us, is this guy who was all dolled-up like Duckie, from 'Pretty In Pink'. And we both just stand there going, "Duckie! Too cool!"
Anyways, long story short (too late), him and Jon ended up hanging out a little last winter, and then, hey presto, this guy's in one of my classes. First day of class, the Prof had us all go around the room, say a little about ourselves, ect. ect. And I had been sitting there since the beginning of class, staring at this boy, going, 'Damn, he looks familiar.' So, anyways, it gets to me, I talk about myself, show off my tattoo, talk about my daughter, ect. The Prof asks my daughter's name, I say Epiphany, and this boy calls out, "Jon!", I yell at him to shut the hell up, and a great friendship is born. Later I ask him how he knew Jon, and he tells me, and I go, 'Oh my god, I do remember you, you're Duckie...'
And the rest, as they say, is history.
This boy is pretty much tied with Allegory for bestest friend in the world. We just have a blast when we're hanging out together.
He's got darkish-blonde hair, and kinda green-y-blue-y eyes. He is six-foot-something as well, (why does a short girl like me hang around with all these absurdly tall boys?) and skinny... as he puts it, "I've seen toothpicks with more on them". There should be pictures of him coming up soon... they just need to get developed.
Note... he's my husband now. :)
Action Figure is one of my old boyfriends, and a great friend. He's out of state right now, and I must admit, I miss him terribly sometimes. We were going out for almost a year, and then I broke up with him, and we didn't talk for almost three years. But we kept running into each other, and finally we were like, alright, someone's trying to tell us something...
At any rate, we started talking & stuff, and ended up being just as good of friends as we were before, if not better. He lived with me for three and a half months last winter, and he was soooo good with Epiphany... it was amazing. She really took a liking to him as well... Allegory said it was his voice, she just loved his voice.
The last time we talked he told me that he was working out, getting all buff n' stuff, so I really can't give an accurate description of what he looks like, now. His eyes are probably still green, and his hair is prol'ly still a light-brownish colour, and he's still prol'ly somewhere in the six-foot area as far as height goes. But that's as good as I can do for you.
Anyhoo, He's going to be starting college next year, and right now he's working two jobs, and all that sort of stuff... just really sounds like he's getting himself together... which is a good thing.
Maureen is one of my husband's ex-girlfriends. She's maybe an inch or so taller than me (which makes her about 5' 4"), and these *big* blue eyes, and hair that changes colours more often than mine does! ;)
She's a real sweetheart... she's got this really pretty, kinda musical voice, and she's really great to just sit and talk for hours with. She's a feminist, and vegan (no meat, eggs, or milk products), and is very intelligent.
I met her at the beginning of the '98 school year, and I'm so glad I did... she's one of the girls I went to Madison with that completely changed my perspectives on girls... which is why she's one of the musketeers. (so obviously there's three of us, me, Maureen, and... )
Sunny is the other musketeer... She's tall, skinny and just beautiful. She's got hazel eyes ("They are not brown! They're hazel!"), and these long long *long* eyelashes. She's got long dark-brown hair, and these legs like you just wouldn't believe... all in all, she's got the body that I want to have, but never will. {{{sigh}}}
And, in addition to that, she's just a great person. I first met her in the fall of '97, 'cos she was hanging out with my daughter's biological father. Then, last year we bumped into each other at school, and started talking... She's a boisterous person, and you can have a conversation with her about anything at all. She also really likes math, so next semester, when I take it, I've got a built in tutor. ;)
And, as an added plus, I can somewhat take credit for her meeting the guy she's kinda started seeing, seeing as how I've introduced them.
Silky I also met in the fall of '97. We worked together at the same place, and bumped into each other one night when we were out and about, and started talking, and realized that we had a lot of tastes in common, especially where music is concerned. Shortly after we met is when my daughter's father pulled some really shitty stuff on me, and I decided that it was in my best interests to not live there with him anymore. So Silky let me move in with him for a little bit. And he's such a gentleman... we slept in the same bed for I don't know how many nights, and he never ever ever *once* got fresh with me...
Anyways... he's got fairly short & curly hair, and eyes that are on the greenish side of hazel. Actually, as a matter of fact he looks a bit like Seth Green (you know, Dr. Evil's son, Scott Evil?), and is just one of the biggest sweethearts I know. I used to have quite a little cruch on him that I still had some unresolved feelings about until I realized that the only important thing was that he was there for me, as a friend when I really needed one, and that's what is really important. But he's still a fox...;)
