For all that I do,

It is nothing to you,

I can't drive you away.

You are all that is good

and desirable, too,

Yet my words and my warnings

are nothing to you.

I am far from the perfect

big brother, it seems,

In the midst of my sleep

you come into my dreams.

Even there, as I try to

do what I should do,

You don't listen at all,

It means nothing to you.

So I say to you, truly,

I'll not go away,

And if you should ask me

I'll beg you to stay.

But there'll be a few things

I won't say or do,

So I pray that those also

mean nothing to you.
