Orange lights in the early morning, Consuming God's Temples with the fire Started by hatred from Hades, Camouflaged man storming a children's school With a blazing war weapon aimed at women and children-- All this happened in America, 1999, Not by stiff brown shirted men in jackboots, Marching in the long dark nights of the past, But by small men in big boots Who are told on the Internet That they are the Aryans of America And Hitler's heirs. Their goal is to replace love with hate, And peace with destruction, And diversity with racism-- Seeds of this destruction were sown by those who seek power And use wedges to pry us apart. They care not if they spark the fires In the hearts of those who have sheets of white Ready to wear in the closet of their souls. Evil men can destroy houses of God But can not destroy the faithful. The light of his people forever shines in his houses, Light that no fire can ever consume. |
Richard A. Ochoa, a Roman Catholic, wrote this poem in memory of the recent hate crimes against Jews in Sacramento (synagogue arsons) and in Northridge (the shootings). |
