Sonnet No.2: "Paradigm Shift" by Elizabeth Ochoa
Men of great learning usually divine
That thresholds of knowledge shock us mortals--
Discoveries, admissions--a new paradigm
Where we unwillingly enter portals.
Shiva saw holes before destroying earth.
So, the old way shall die. The past must end
Though we avoid labor pains of rebirth,
"Just Phoenix flew from ashes to relive."
We resist change and the unknown for fear
That our trees will be typed by their bad fruit.
Yet, revolt fails as the time draws near
When the vacuum sucks our beings toward the Truth,
And the future reveals that men's squabbles
Sounded like the turkeys'--only gobbles.
