"Music at the crossroads of international trade routes, where any number of cultures, genres, instruments and playing styles intermingle... transgressing cultural boundaries"
Biba Kopf, THE WIRE, UK.

To describe the essence of the music of EXTREME is to describe music of texture, weaving the evocative and the innovative with the dynamic, sonic and experimental. Nuances coloured by lush, atmospheric soundscapes; music that speaks to the senses.

ASSEMBLAGE two highlights the diversity of music that is EXTREME. SOMA open with their filmic sci-fi dance experience and PABLO'S EYE bring us back to earth with their surreal and worldly songs. GROOVY, with their musical antics, show that the 70's was a fun time after all! THE FIRE THIS TIME get dub-wise with their "Blakk Indian Music", which fuses Black music like reggae, hip-hop and dub with Native American musical forms. The swirling percussion and found voices of MUSLIMGAUZE take us across distant lands with a vision of the Middle East, whilst VIDNA OBMANA lead us into primeval atmospherics and ethno-tribal soundscapes. LAND, featuring Jeff Greinke, show their gentle side with traditional Japanese instruments and modern electronics recreating a serene narrative. MO BOMA, with ambient jungles of world music combining form and harmony, explore the many levels of the "Myths of the Near Future" trilogy. SOCIAL INTERIORS conclude with sonic manipulations that bring new dimensions to our sound environment.

ASSEMBLAGE volume two includes a bonus track from SOMA and SOCIAL INTERIORS, not to be released elsewhere, and a remix from MUSLIMGAUZE.

Vince Harrigan, INTAKE MANIFOLD, had this to say about EXTREME; "This is the sort of work that makes EXTREME such a vital label for new, total quality experimental music, and why a lot of people buy an EXTREME release without even knowing what it sounds like".

Shane Danielsen, SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, said, to put it concisely, "Another release from the excellent, wildly eclectic EXTREME label".
