Mary-Evelyn's Story

Since a lot of Cliff's webpage seems to be all about me, he thought I should add a few words of my own. Our page is like our life, so far he has done all the talking. :) I haven't led the most exciting of lives; I was born in Hamilton, Ontario and have lived there all of my life. One cold night in April of 1972, when I was 19, I did a very clever thing. I asked a very special, (ok, cute too) busdriver if he would like some company for a while, and we've been keeping company ever since. :) When we were married that September, I thought we loved each other as much as two people ever could, but over the years we have just become closer and closer. I know I have been blessed. A few of the special things in my life, apart from family, are: L.M. Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, duplicate bridge, and Weight Watchers. My love of Montgomery has affected my life in several ways. It led me down the path, literally, to the car accident that changed my life forever in 1984. Although I have been handicapped ever since, I am thankful to still be here and enjoying life. It also led me to the Kindred Spirits email list, where I have met many dear and special friends over the years. I am proud to also be a member of the Kindred Spirits Society of Hamilton, and to even have a very small part in the L. M. Montgomery Album. Bridge has always been an important part of my life too. I think it is the friends you make through your interests that make them even more special, and I have been fortunate at both duplicate bridge clubs, and on the Msn Gaming Zone to make many. Last but certainly not least is my love and gratitude to Weight Watchers. I truly believe they have saved my life since I joined on Oct. 11, 2002. I had long ago resigned myself to the fact that I was doomed to a life of obesity, but health problems forced me to realize that I needed to try and do something. I knew I couldn't do it on my own, and I had always heard that Weight Watchers was the best. Although I hated the memories of the restrictions of "dieting", I quickly discovered WW wasn't like that. From the day I joined, I have found nothing but kindness, helpfulness, and overwhelming support there. I just listened to everything they told me to do, and followed instructions, and wow, it really works! Even though I am not at goal yet, it's incredible how much better I feel, in so many ways. Although I will never be able to walk normally, due to the severity of my ankle injury, all of my other health problems have improved tremendously. Although I know I have done the work myself, WW has been with me every step of the way, and I have been blessed with such great leaders, and friends wherever we go, at home, at meetings in Florida, and in the WW online chatroom. I am so grateful. Did I say a "few" words? :)

This is old stuff, MaryEv has lost 23.4 lbs since the photo on the right was taken !

MaryEv reached top end WW goal Nov 12th 2004

25 months after joining WW

She is now 16.2 lbs below top end WW goal

MaryEv's total weight loss is now 246 lbs.

She has now lost more than 60% of her starting weight.

We have confidence in the Power of Prayer and the program of Weight Watchers in that order.

It works if you work it.

For those who think she lost too fast ?

Top end WW Goal weight = 174 reached Nov 20, 2004

Total 109 weeks = 2.1 lbs per week

Personal Goal = 160 lbs, midpoint range goal for WW

Total 131 weeks = 1.85 lbs per week

This averages less than 00.46 % of her starting weight.

Example; if a starting weight was 175 to average .46% they would have to lose 0.8 of a lb every week.

Our Cat Pussywillow was so impressed with our progress at WW that she decided to go on the program too.

(Iams Weight Control Premium Cat Food)

Since she is 9.5 years old we have put Pussywillow on the Iams Mature Activity formula.
