Avi Toledano is a wonderful singer who can sing fantastic songs...as well as really bad ones. Avi was absolutely awsome when he sang French singer Charles Aznavour's songbook or when he represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982 with the now famous "Hora". Avi Toledano was also very popular at that time. Then, around 1988, when he released a record called "Victor", his popularity went down. Well, I have to admit that the record itself was not his best work. He seemed to do better though with his "Maroker" album in the early 90's when he went back to Marocco (that's where he was born) for a sort of pilgrimage (he was granted a special visa by the Maroccan authorities since Israelis are not allowed to enter Marocco). Avi Toledano has the right capacities (and a good voice) to be a great singer, but I think that he should be much more careful about the material that he sings, and maybe accept to sing songs written by other people (Avi Toledano writes his own music and lyrics). |
BEST. Hataklit. A fantastic compilation for a fantastic artist! Highly recommended! |
