What's new? | Male Singers | Groups | Compilations | Audiostation |
Gali Atari has had quite a long and successful career. She had had a few big hits by herself already when she joined the group Chalav Udvash (Milk and Honey) and won the Eurovision in 1979 with the song "Hallelujah" (now an Israeli standard). She stayed alittle with the group before going back to singing on her own. In 1981, she released an album called "Kah oti Habaita" (Take me Home) which was mediocre (and that's an understatement) except that it contained a duet with Meni Begger which was going to become a huge success. Then, in 1984 she renewed with success with a fantastic album produced by Matti Caspi, "Mamria Baruah" (Flying in the wind). Musically speaking, that was among her best albums. In 1986, her new album, "Mid September" brought her even more success and Gali Atari became one of the most popular singers in Israel. When "One Step More" was released one years later, the sky was the limit!!! "One Step More" contained 10 songs, and...10 hits!!! The following disc,"Bereshit" (Beginning) was not that successful (although the songs were not that bad if you ask me), and she had to wait for her next album, in 1990, "The Day After" to reach the top 10 again. Four years later, she came up with one of her worst albums, "Simanim" (Signs) that she almost wrote entirely. Needless to say that it did not get her many awards. Yet, this year her new album, "Glida" (Ice Cream) was a big surprise since to me, it is one of her very very best work. |
PRINCE OF MY DREAMS. Phonokol. Gali's first album, which was quite successful in Israel. Early songs of Gali. Sweet and cute!
MID SEPTEMBER.NMC. A huge success! A truly wonderful album. Highly recommended!
ONE STEP MORE. NMC. Another best seller and another quality album! Highly recommended!
BEGINNING. NMC. A more intimate album. Gali sings a few of Chava Albertsein's big hits. I think that it is a good album that announced a change in Gali's musical direction.
GREATEST HITS. NMC. A great compilation of Gali's big hits. This compilation is also valuable since it contains a few fantastic songs from the 1984 record "Riding in the wind" which is not available on compact disc. PS: Two covers of the album are available, so don't worry if the new cover is slightly different (sort of green with a small picture). Highly recommended!
THE DAY AFTER. NMC. This is a very good Gali Atari's disc. A few songs are splendid!
SIGNS. NMC. I would say that it is Gali's worst album to date: boring melodies and lyrics and poor voice.
ICE CREAM. NMC. I think that this is Gali Atari's best album because it shows maturity and excellent taste. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!! Highly recommended! |
