Achinoam Nini is also known in Europe and America as Noa. I got her first album, which was a live album, in 1991, and was amazed at her wonderful voice and the amazing arrangements of her songs. Then, she released her second album that is her best so far: I think that this second album is musically and technically at the top of whatever is possible to produce these days. At the same time, in Europe they released her first English album, entitled "Noa" (short for Achinoam). The English album became very popular in Europe, and especially in France, almost two years later!!! Anyway, Achinoam Nini released a second English album, "Calling" in 1996 and which is her least accomplished work (in other words, it sucks!!!). Last year, Achinoam came out with a new Hebrew album that, despite a hideous cover, was not too bad. Fortunately, this year, Achinoam came back to her senses and made a wonderful album (with a gorgeous picture on the cover!) with the Philarmonic Orchestra of Israel. Achinoam is too gifted to waste her time and talent doing boring pseudo new pop rock albums (although I think that it's great that she tried new genres). I need to mention that Gil Dor is her musical partner, playing the guitar and doing arrangements and that he is himself a lump of talent! Her place is at the very top and she needs to more recording like the second album and this last Philarmonic one!!! |
LIVE. NMC. A fantastic first live album and a wonderful voice. Highly recommended!
LEA AND RACHEL. NMC. To me, Achinoam Nini's best album to date. It is really a beautiful album with gorgeous melodies and amazing vocal and musical arrangements. Highly recommended!
NOA. Geffen. A good album, all in English except for a few Hebrew songs (the studio versions of some songs from the first live album). .
CALLING. Geffen. Second album in English. I think that this is Achinoam Nini's worst album: boring and charmless.
ACHINOAM NINI. NMC. An average pop album. I expected much more from this Hebrew album that took a long time to be released. |
