What's new? | Male Singers | Groups | Compilations | Audiostation |
Riki Gal started singing children songs and easy pop songs. Then, she came across Matti Caspi and her musical life changed! Matti Caspi knew how to take advantage of Riki's fabulous and vibrant voice. This was in 1987, when Riki eventually released her first album, totally written by Matti Caspi. One thing about Matti Caspi is that I think that he is a poor singer but a brilliant composer -musician. Anyway, the album was a big success as well as a big controversy, thanks to the song "Naarat Harock" (The Rock'nRoll Girl), which talks bluntly about drugs, sex and...rock'n roll! Certain radios even refused to play the song. A year later, the prolific Matti Caspi wrote her another album, which turned out to be one of her best, and even sang a duet with Riki Gal, "Ma Zot Ahava?" (What's this kind of love?). Then Riki starred in the Hebrew version of the Broadway musical "Evita". She was absolutely great! Unfortunately, they only released an audio tape, and not the CD...After that, Riki went back to the studio and recorded "Search Me", which, in my humble advice is worth forgetting. A good live album followed, and last year, Riki Gal came up with what is maybe her best album to date, "Ani Ohevet Otcha Yoter" (I love you most). This last album is also the fruit of another collaboration with Matti Caspi. Which shows that this is a team made in Heaven!!! At least musically... |
RIKI GAL. NMC. Very Rock, energizing, fabulous album. Technically perfect and very innovative. Highly recommended!
WHAT IS THIS LOVE? NMC. One of Riki's best albums. More jazzy-cabaret type. Fantastic! Highly recommended!
SEARCH ME. NMC. To me, her worst album. Too rock and not charmful enough...
LIVE. NMC. Where you see (or rather hear) that Riki Gal is as great in studio as in public!
I LOVE YOU MORE. NMC. I think that this album is the same quality as WHAT IS THIS LOVE?, that is to say excellent. Go for it!!! Highly recommended! |
