Yehudit Ravitz is an extraordinary gifted musician, and a wonderful singer. Her career is interesting too: Yehudit started singing ballads and light pop, then bit by bit, year after year, she evolved towards pop and rock. I would say that till 1987, date of the release of her very successful album "Baa Meahava" (Coming from Love), Yehudit Ravitz was a pop and ballads singers. Then, she became plainly rock, although she still sang a few wonderful love songs. Personally, I prefer the first period of Yehudit Ravitz, "Baa Meahava" included. Indeed, after this album, she changed recording company, and her style, as I said, became too rock for my taste (harsh electric guitars, etc). Last year, she released a new album, "Eyzo Min Yalda", which, to me, is her absolutely worst disc to date. It's not even simple rock anymore, it is plainly hard rock, noisy and with not much charm. I was very disappointed. I think that Yehudit Ravitz is really fantastic and has a huge artistic potential, but that she should use her talent recording other type of songs, or at least, doing what she did for "Baa Meahava", that is to say, mixing rock songs with ballads (genre she is excellent at). The good thing though is that we can delight in her earlier fabulous records since they are all available on CD! |
YEHUDIT RAVITZ. NMC. This is Yehudit Ravitz's first album. It contains gorgeous songs and many hits. Very melodious album. One of my favorite! Highly recommended!
COVERED AND DISCOVERED. NMC. Good album. Pop and ballads, in the same style as the first one. I like it a lot!
JUST THE RIGHT WORD. NMC. Sort of greatest hits, but Yehudit Ravitz sings them with new arrangements. Highly recommended!
COME TO RIO. NMC. Yehudit's tribute to Brazil (Brazilian music is very popular in Israel) in Hebrew. Very upbeat album.
SILK ROAD. NMC. Very successful album. All the songs were practically hits. The album was more pop than the previous ones. Still, a great album.
COMING FROM LOVE. NMC. Huge success in Israel. Definitely more rock. A few great ballads though, and even some of the rock tracks are not bad at all. Highly recommended!
SHEM. Helicon. Another recording company, Helicon, and more rock. A few good songs, but not her best.
IT IS NOT VERY EASY TO WAIT. Helicon. Even more rock. Except for one or two songs, I did not care for this album too much.
LIVE. Helicon. Remixes of old songs, live performances. This is a fabulous album. Dance tracks too. Yehudit Ravitz is a real performer, and she always gives her very best in concert. Highly recommended!
GREATEST HITS. NMC. A greatest hits. Original versions. The choice of the songs for this compilation is very good. Highly recommended!
EYZO MIN YALDA. Helicon. Sort of hard rock. To me, among her worst albums. |
