Yehudit Tamir was a back up singer for Yehuda Poliker, a famous pop singer. So, it was not surprising that Yehuda Poliker wrote and produced Yehudit Tamir's first album. Her style is, like Poliker, very Greek oriented, and soft rock. This first album, released in 1990, contained the hit "Romeo", which was a huge success in Israel. Her second album, written in collaboration with her husband, singer Sheffi Yishay, was released in 1994. This second disc did not meet great success, but personally, I think that it is a wonderful album, in many ways more achieved that the first one. Yehudit Tamir's songs are even more meaningful if you understand Hebrew because her lyrics are very interesting and sensitive; in a way, Yehudit Tamir's songs remind me of Edith Piaf's realistic and disenchanted songs. Tamir and Piaf do not have much else in common, except quality... |
YEHUDIT TAMIR. NMC. Great album. Mix of pop, ballads and rock. A hint of Greek folklore too. Highly recommended! | |
RED FLOWERS. NMC. Her first album was very good. This one is excellent! Musically and artistically, it is on my top 20 list. Highly recommended! |
