"I feel art is a joyful expression of the soul. My philosophy of art is to capture the essence of the subject. I believe art should elevate the soul. My experience in art began in early 1992, immediately after retirement from a carrier in science. My love for beauty and nature is deeply rooted in the country of my birth, Persia. I am grateful to two mentors who influenced my work in art : One is Pat Sherwood, my first teacher in "Beginning Drawing", who was also my subsequent painting critique. She would say: " There are two kinds of art, good and bad!" I have strived, hopefully, for the good. The other mentor was Mike Linstrum, a wonderful artist and colorist. I have participated in some art exhibitions: Saratoga-SCA, Los Gatos Museum, Triton Museum VAAST, etc. and have won a few awards: "Toni"- 1st place, "Dawn, 1st place, "An Arrangement", Honorary mention, etc. The exhibit below is arranged to depict various stages of my art evolvement. This is my gift to my friends and loved ones. Enjoy!"
The chronological exhibits below are a representative sample of Jacob's work.
