Names and places
Search B: In quotes type in the search term, eg: "John Smith".
If that fails try some of the 'matching' options.
Search 1: Don't use quotes, leave it on the all words or AND option.

Index numbers
Most negatives have been assigned an serial number - such as 2002.15.23
to distinguish these from other reference numbers and to save space the full stops have been removed.
This reference would be entered as: "20021523"

Time saving
If files ending in '_head.html' or '_frame.html' come up in an archive search it is better to avoid them, as they will be of little use and may confuse the browser.
