"I don't want to go mommy. You can't make me," four year old Gabriella Potter
whined.
"Gabby hush, we're going to see Walker and Diana."
"But mommy, they have three boys and boys have cooties."
"Gabby, I said hush. Now go put on your new dress."
Gabriella stormed out of the room. She pulled her new purple dress on.
"Stupid boys." Her mother came in to do her hair.
"No mommy, don't out it in braids, he always pulls them."
"Gabriella hush. It's his birthday party, you'd better be nice to him."
"But mommy he's mean!"
"Gabby enough. If you're nice to him he'll be nice to you too." Gabby pouted
and sat down so her mother could finish braiding her waist length hair.
"Monica, Nick nice to see you again. Hello Gabriella."
"Hello Diana," Gabriella said politely.
Her parents handed her the present and shooed her into the playroom with Diana's sons, 7 year old Isaac, 5 year old Taylor and 3 year old Zachary.
"Here," she said thrusting the package into Taylor's hands.
He took it and pulled one of her braids. She ran out of the room screaming.
"Mommy! Mean ol' Taylor pulled my hair."
"Gabriella Rose, don't tattle."
"But mommy."
"Don't but mommy me, go back to the playroom and play nicely."
She stormed back and plopped down on the floor. Isaac had left and Zac was
playing with a ball so it was only her and Taylor.
"You know Gabby, I'm really not that bad."
She stuck her tongue out at him.
"No really Gabby, come here."
She eyed him suspiciously but got up and went over to the couch next to him.
"What?"
He leaned over and quickly kissed her before getting up and running out of the room.
"Zaccy, did you see that?" she asked touching her cheek.
The young child just stared at her. She got up and walked into the living room where the adults were.
"Mommy," she said tugging on her mother's skirt.
"Mommy, Mommy, MOMMY!!"
"What Gabriella?" "Mommy, I have cooties."
"There's no such thing as cooties Gabby."
"But Mommy he gave them to me."
"Gabby, go play."
Gabriella stormed back to the playroom and started playing with Isaac and Taylor's legos. She stopped to think, remembering how she'd seen a man and a woman kiss on TV last night. "They were in love," she thought. "Are me and Taylor in love?"
"No," she said outloud, "He's a boy, boys are yucky."
