I wish I could be
At my own funeral
To see who would come
To find out
Who really cared

I wish I could be there
When they lay me to rest
To see how others knew me
During my time on earth

I wish I could hear
What they would say
Once I passed from this world.
Had I left behind
Anything worth while

I wish I could see
The expressions on their faces
As they lower my body
Into the earth
And they say their last goodbyes

I wish I could be
At my own funeral
But then it would be too late
My life will have ended
I could do no more
So I must try now
While I can
To leave behind
Some good in this world
