Mouse of the Week

Rocket on the Birdhouse

Rocket

On April 20th, 2002, on a huge mousey shopping spree, I found Rocket. She was not the color I was looking for, but with a beautiful satin coat, how could I resist! I'm still trying to figure out her coat color. She is either a blue broken marked mouse, or a blue agouti broken marked mouse. Her current litter is doing well and just getting their fur in. If the brown-looking ones end up being agouti, then I'll know she's blue agouti, otherwise if they are brown self, then she can only be a blue mouse.

Rocket's claim to fame is that she saved the lives of her ten babies. Her nest is an old Salsa dish and she had all ten babies in there. The dish somehow got under the water bottle, and one of the tissues in her nest touched the tip of the sipper tube... When I looked the entire dish was filled with water! But Rocket grabbed her babies and pulled them to safety before they could drown! She is having a rest from pregnancy while she raises her current litter and she will then be introduced to a male satin mouse. To learn more about Rocket, please visit Rocket's Page.
