The Hannah Kahn Poetry Foundation
Bringing Poetry Events to South Florida
The Hannah Kahn Poetry Foundation has worked to bring the finest poets to South Florida, including:
- Anthony Hecht
- Gwendolyn Brooks
- Yehuda Amichai
- Dana Gioia
- Maxine Kumin
- John Haag
- Carolyn Kizer
- Denise Duhamel
The HKPF has worked alone and in conjunction with the University of Miami, the Miami Bookfair International,
Florida International University, the Florida Center for the Book, and Nova Southeastern University,
to bring quality poetry readings and workshops to South Florida.
Along with bringing "big names" in poetry to South Florida, the HKPF also nurtures and recognizes
poets through its Wild Horse Poetry Series, the only poetry reading in which
outstanding local poets get paid an honorarium ($50). The Electric Chair, long the premiere poetry reading
in South Florida, continues to showcase talented poets to an exclusive, invited audience where reader and listener
interact in poetic dialogue. Please join us in our quest to provide first rate poetry events in South Florida.
