LIFE GOES ON IT SEEMS

by

Rose McMahan

I get up in the morning
Brush my teeth and comb my hair
Staring in a mirror
Reflecting back despair
Around the fringes of my heart
Are long forgotten dreams
Of simple times and childhood days ...
But life goes on it seems. Cleaning the house with vigor
Helps to ease my mind
For all the grief and heart-aches
Are briefly left behind
So I scrub the kitchen table
Until it softly gleams
Then cry into the dish cloth ...
As life goes on it seems.
