LIBA DAVID was born in Czechoslovakia and came to Canada as a refugee in 1968. Soon after that she began working with natural materials creating an organic medium of expression. Long before this however, she had fallen in love with these humble yet long lasting and versatile resources. Her art form is unique so of necessity, she is largely self-taught.
LIBA uses an endless variety of materials in her work. Some of her favorites are: citrus rinds, rutabagas, potatoes, mangoes, avocados, banana, peels, pomegranates, cabbage leaves, seeds, etc.
Her aim in school activities is to share and inspire a creative experience.
