Your board decided that for the coming year, we would alternate a Regular Business Meeting
and Demo with an Announcements Only Meeting and Painting Program. This means that every
other month we meet (excluding the Oct. Tea and June Gathering), we will have a 1-1/2 to 2
hour painting class. Some of our own long time experienced members have volunteered their
time to teach us.

SPECIAL PROJECT AT JC YMCA WEST
In 1999 the Chapter committed to a community project that
was at the JC YMCA. We did two very long murals, approximately 22 feet long and 5 feet
high. One wall is animals in the forest, then a stone wall, then a wild flower garden and
finally 2 bunnies under a couple of bird houses. The other wall was several little scenes
for kids, bunnies, bears etc. with some very neat sayings incorporated in the painting. We
painted five large sports figures, approx. 5 feet high and two small ones to
complete the teenage wall section. On September 24th we finished the project. Everyone
that participated said it was a lot of fun doing it.

WHATS ALREADY HAPPENED THIS YEAR IN OUR CHAPTER
This year, our chapter, decided to use the many
talented artists in our group for Paint-ins. In January we had Donna Wells, who studied
with Robert Warren and teaches his style of painting. We painted an oil painting of
"Side Yard Flowers" which was painted using Robert Warren's techniques of
basecoating under the darkest value with black acrylic. They all came out beautiful, we
had three girls that never had painted in oils before. In February, we had an acrylic
seminar, by Nancy Focardi, on a large round bentwood box which is painted with a large
pumpkin with little witches cutting the eyes, carrying the matches, etc. It was an
enjoyable and fun piece to paint.
On March 13th, our very own, Shea Szachara taught a
9" round plate done with plaid background and a pear with blueberries in the center.
This was a great seminar, if you attended, you got to use two new products of Delta. Each
attendee came home with 5 new Robert Simmons Brushes plus 19 bottles of paints. It is your
loss, if you did not take advantage of this seminar.
April 24 brings us a beautiful floral acrylic,
using washes, taught by Mary Newby. It is a spring bouquet of a few different flowers.
There is still time to signup for this one.
May 22nd will be a beautiful watercolor
of an angel, by Beulah Reed. We are just formulating the details and signups will be in
April and May.
Programs up through June:
March - A Potpouri Demo of several painting techniques.
April - Nancy Focardi
May - Mary Newby
June - Pot Luck Picnic at Carol Empet's October Farm in
Pennsylvannia
