***Part 1-2***
Walking down the street with her hood over her head the drizzling rain drenched her down.
She peeked through her loose hair onto the street. It felt as if everyone was staring at her. To run after her and run her down.
She slid the hood off her head and the rain started soaking through her hair. Something looked different about her.... her hair...
It was short and neatly in place. She looked around her. She was running away from something....
Something she couldn't handle....
She started running....
Running to nowhere....
There was total darkness....
Nothing.. no one in sight....
but something there was scaring her like hell...
"NO~!"
Ji Eun woke up screaming with tears in her eyes. Her long streaks of hair wet with sweat.
"No... please no...."
Ji Eun crumbled in to a ball pulling the sheet over her quivering body.
She heard a door open. There entered a man with white long gown. He quickly ran toward her.
"Ms.Choi are you alright?"
He was a stranger who seemed to be a doctor. He didn’t look so much older though.. Maybe her age? Or a little older. He looked closely into her with unease on his face.
"uh.. yea... where am I.... what am I doing here..."
Ji Eun was so confused. Why was she sitting on this bed that seemed so unfamiliar and why did she have all these needles on her arms that had ivies dangling on the top.
"Ms. Yi don't you remember anything?"
He started jotting down some stuff on the paper pad that he was holding in his arms.
"Remember what?"
She felt the tears that she had forgotten to wipe stream down her face.
"You’re in Seoul University medical hospital. You were found by a group of people climbing
mountains not too far from the main road. They said you were passed out when they found you."
He was still jotting down some stuff.
"Mountain? What are you talking about? I don't even like...."
.......
..She couldn't remember....
She couldn't remember whether she liked mountain climbing or not. There was another sound of the door and entered a nurse. She handed him a stack of paper and left. The doctor looked circumspectly through the document and looked at Ji Eun with pity on his face.
"Well... according to the test results you had critical damage on your right side of the brain causing an amnesia. You will have to stay here a little longer than we expected. Well...We were fortunate enough to find a person who clamed to be your Family member."
He started to organize his material back into his arms and looked up at her.
"I have to be on my way to a meeting now. If you need anything ask for Dr.Kim , cuz that's who I am. O.k?"
"yea... thank you"
He started walking toward the door.
"wait."
Ji Eun called out to him before he left the room.
"yes?"
"Who is the person claiming to be my family member?"
"he said he was your fiancé, Mr. Mun? or something like that. He should be getting here any second.
I saw him filling out the papers on the front desk."
Dr.Kim disappeared out the door.
'Mun....Mun... who is this guy....'
"Ji Eun there you are! are you o.k?"
A guy rushed in to the room. He had big eyes that were able to reflect your whole image, short spiked up hair, and fairly dark skin.
"um.. yea... I'm alright..."
'Remember Ji Eun! remember! who is he....'
"I was worried sick about you. I couldn’t find you anywhere… nobody knew.. and I ..I thought something had really gone wrong.. but I guess my speculation wasn’t too far off. What happened?"
Eric sat next to her and brushed the streak of hair from her face.
Ji Eun felt the warm heat on his fingertips.
"you know what kind of situation I'm in don't you? I don't remember anything... I... I can't remember anything not even you..."
Eric gently took her hands into his.
"... it's o.k... I know.. I know.. I bumped into Dr.Kim on the way in....don't worry it'll be alright.
It's gonna all come back soon. I talked to the doctor about it."
Eric Put her head on his shoulders and caressed her hair.
"I just hope so..."
It's been a week in the hospital and Ji Eun was desperate to get out. Ji Eun begged Eric to take her back home through out the whole week. Nothing was helping anyways. So Eric had a talk with the doctor and he agreed that it was o.k for her to go home with him.
JI Eun was in a good progress with a little help from Eric she recalled little stuff like her name and age.
"Thank you so much Eric~ I hate this place it feels like their experimenting with me. Ugh! I want to get out of here as fast as I can!"
Ji Eun got dressed to her regular cloths that Eric had brought from home.
"Are you that excited to go home?"
Eric was sitting on the hospital bed watching Ji Eun jump up and down like a little child.
"yah~ ofcourse! maybe if I go home and stay at our... house something'll actually come back! don't you think so?"
Talking to a person that she remembered from the past week about 'their house' was a little awkward for her.
"ofcourse. If you’re done, lets get you out of this place and get you some fresh air."
Eric's voice didn't sound any excited, rather flat and it seemed like he was in another thought of his own.
"well... lets go then I'm all~ ready! um... one question..."
Ji Eun looked down at her shirt.
Eric's eyebrow arched up as if to say 'what?'
"um... is this really my shirt? I don't think red is my kind of color...."
Eric had a startled look on his face.
"of..ofcourse red is your favorite color you love red...."
There was a little suspicion in Eric's voice, but right now he was the only one she was able to trust.
"oh... well it doesn't look that bad I guess..."
Eric led her out the door and into the elevator. There was a little mirror on the elevator wall. Ji Eun looked into it. ...
There was a pale looking skinny girl staring back at her. Her long hair was covering her shoulders down to her arms. It was Ji Eun her self. It was the first time she actually looked into the mirror carefully.
'long hair.... why did I have short hair in my dream?'
She looked next to her where Eric was standing. She thought it was weird or rather rude that he wasn't paying much attention to her and seemed like he was always in another place in his mind.
"Eric"
"wha.. huh?"
Eric snapped out of his thoughts.
"before I woke up the first day here... I had a dream... it was so scary... something was following me... but I couldn't see it... I was running.. and I had this...this short hair... then ... then.. everything blacked out and I felt the most frightening feeling of my life... well my life as far as I can remember. Eric, what happened to me? why was I found in the woods where no one was around? why weren’t you there?"
Eric didn't say anything for a while. Then the elevator door opened followed by his mouth,
"I talked to the doctor. He said you have to try to remember everything by your self... I'm going to help you as much as possible but some things.. you have to go through your self...but I'm always here for you alright?"
Ji Eun only nodded her head
They drove up to a big house it had a high brick wall surrounding the house but she was able to see the big green garden with colorful flowers.
"Wow~ it's so beautiful.... this is where I live?"
Ji Eun couldn't stop wowing~ about her house. It was a pretty house after all. As Ji Eun got out of the Mercedes she heard footsteps coming towards the gate.
"Mr. Mun, back so soon?"
She seemed to be the maid. she had little white hairs growing here and there. She looked like a nice lady with the warm smile she was showing.
"nae ahjumma. Ji Eun's here too."
Ahjumma tilted her head to the side to look past Eric's wide shoulders. Ji Eun gave the ahjumma a warm smile back.
"uh.. hello~"
"oh, Ms.Yi long time no..."
"remember? Today’s the day she comes back home from the hospital~"
"Hospita..."
The ahjumma looked very confused
"Didn’t you know.."
Ji Eun was starting to get confused too.
"let's all go inside~ why are we standing out here, haha..."
Eric shoved both into the gate and gave out an uneasy laugh.
Inside the house was as beautiful as the outside. The house was very nicely furnished with fine Italy leather furniture that brought up the color of the wooden walls. As she thought of it they must have been pretty wealthy to live in a place like this. But nothing was familiar to her yet. Their room was located further in the 2nd floor hall. When she opened the door there was a fragrance of fresh spring air. It must
have been some air freshener.. cuz it was still chilly winter…
"nice~ how did I get to be so lucky to live in a place like this?"
she looked carefully around the room. A king size bed... little tea table by the veranda window.... a pretty dresser that had a mirror stand.
on top of the dresser was woman's make up and men's make up. They were neatly divided in to two sections. Women’s on the right and the men’s
on the left. The lotions and make-ups were all used.
'oh.. they must be mine...'
She opened up the closet that was next to the dresser.
Woman’s clothes... all hers... There were some pretty neat stuff in there... fancy party dresses... t- shirts.. jeans... and everything neatly organized in sections.
That lady out side must have done it. It looked as tidy as everything else in the house.
"so...how do you feel?"
The sudden voice startled Ji Eun and made her jump, as if she had been caught looking through other people’s stuff.
"oh, Eric~ you scared me!"
Ji Eun gave Eric a shove on his shoulders.
"sorry. I didn't mean to"
Eric apologized quickly.
"it's alright~ oh I love this place~ things are getting better and better as I look around~ I think I'm getting all better already!"
Ji Eun clapped her hands together like a little kid that couldn't stop admiring her new toy.
"don't worry you'll grow right back into place. Come here"
Eric pulled her closer and led her to the tea table.
"this was your favorite spot... where you looked out side to the garden, drank tea, and listen to music. c’mon~ sit"
Ji Eun sat softly on the chair. the view out side was much more beautiful then looking at it from standing there.
"oh it's beautiful~ now I can see I had good taste in nature~"
Ji Eun giggled like a little child as she said it.
"why don't you wash up and get ready to eat dinner. I'll be waiting down stairs."
Eric got up from the chair that was facing Ji Eun.
"oh o.k."
Eric walked past the bed.
"Eric ... one question... "
"yea"
Eric turned around to look at Ji Eun.
"About you. I have so many things I wanted to ask you but.. the most important thing.... aren’t you glad that I'm back? here? with you? you know.. how come you don't look so happy when you’re around me? you know.."
Ji Eun couldn't understand why she didn't feel so welcome by him. Why he felt so far from her.
Eric kept on looking at her with a blank look. then he walked towards Ji Eun. He held Ji Eun’s arm softly and pulled her closer.
Ji Eun felt her throat desiccate as Eric pulled her closer.
Eric's face was few inches away from hers and he whispered to her.
"ofcourse I missed you..."
"how much...."
Soon Eric's lip was covering Ji Eun's.... stopping her sentence. Ji Eun felt the warmth of his lip as he kissed her deeper and deeper.
After the long kiss Eric held her in his arms.
"this much....."
"Ahjumma can you do me a big favor?"
Eric sat down at the dinning table.
"well did I ever turn you down?"
Ahjumma had been working for maybe the past 6 years. When she came to Seoul with no jobs or no place to stay Eric had taken her in to work in his house. She never knew what exactly was Eric’s job, but she always knew Eric was going to grow up to be a fine young gentlemen although he already was when she
met him. Eric never called her any specific name except 'ahjumma'. But that was fine for her.
"well... it's very complicating and important... I don't know if you'll be able to handle it.. "
Eric had an uneasy expression. She wasn't too worried though. Eric always asked her for favors and he always had an uneasy look.
"what is it Mr.Mun?"
"well.. you see... about Ji Eun..."
"Ms. Yi? is something the matter with her? she didn't look too well... and it's been a long time since she had visited"
"yea... I know.. that’s what I want to talk to you about.. she had a little accident... well a big accident... um. she was in a car accident... she had a brain damage and had a memory loss..
I had to bring her here... and in order to do that.. I had to pretend she was my girl friend... you know she has no other family member...
so you have to be a big part of this whole thing... you have to pretend she lived here from a long ago... and she's my fiancé."
ahjumma had the most confused.... bewildered look on her face.
"what are you saying Mr. Mun? you mean she can't remember anything? no wonder the poor thing looked so confused.... tsk tsk.."
she made a sorry face staring out the window.
"so will you do it?"
Eric looked directly in to ahjumma's eyes.
"do what?"
Ji Eun's voice echoed through the dinning room.
"huh?"
Eric was pretty startled by her sudden voice.
"will she do what?"
"um... that.."
Eric wasn't like him self. He always knew what to say.
"make you your favorite dinner Ms. Yi. And in order to do that I'm gonna have to go out to the market, and Mr. Mun himself being the gentlemen, felt bad to make me to go through the trouble.. hoo hoo~ you know how caring he can be~"
ahjumma was a quick thinker her self.
"really? well it won't be so bad... but is it really o.k for you?"
"yes ofcourse~ I will be back in a little while, you two can chit chat while I'm gone."
"Thank You"
they both saw ahjumma disappearing around the corner of the living room.
"wow~ is she great or what? she's like a mother...."
Mother. she wondered what happened to all of her other family members. why they didn't come to get her.
Or yet better, does she even have a family?
"She is a great help around the house. yea... come to think of it she is like a mother"
Eric said. He was staring into the wine that he had poured in for him self.
"you know I have alot of things to catch up with... can you help me out?"
Ji Eun was in a way pleading with him.
"sure... what do you want to know?"
"first of all.... where are my families?"
"you don't have... your parents were killed in a car accident.... you were the only child..."
"oh... well that really breaks the mood... well there are more things that I want to know... so much more...
well what do you do for living?"
"huh? me?"
"yea you silly who else is in here?"
"I.. I work in a secret agents cycle department."
'way to go Eric you really bought her...'
Eric felt really stupid after the lame lie he had said.
"wow~ sounds.. um.. fancy~ I don't exactly know what it is but I don't think I'll get it even if you told me.."
"well I can't tell you anyways... that's why it's a secret organization..."
"oh so.. I'm gonna get married to you soon or later.. and I won't even know what you really do?"
Ji Eun was getting annoyed how Eric wasn't trusting her about a 'secret'.
"yea.. so...~ what else?"
Eric quickly changed the subject.
"forget it... it'll just come back to me by it self. I don't need any more help."
Ji Eun was now hurt more then annoyed.
"Is there anything I can drink?.. no how about a fruit?"
Ji Eun was getting a sudden thirst.
"Well since this is your own house why don't you feel free to get it your self? just so you'll get used
to the things around here?"
"o.k that might be a good idea."
Ji Eun shifted to the fridge. she opened the vegetable box. There were all kinds of fruits. Apple, peach, orange, plums, and etc. you name it and we had it
Ji Eun didn't even think twice and picked up the orange. She just knew she wanted orange.
As she started peeling the orange the tang surrounded her.
"mmm~ I love this smell~ smell of the orange! Eric did I like oranges alot?"
Ji Eun's hard feeling now all forgotten.
"well not really.. you liked all kinds of fruit..."
Eric just gave a 'I don't know' kind of a shrug.
"oh.."
Eric sat alone in his sanctum. It was very dark in the room but he was used to it by now. He was holding a cloth in his left hand and Beretta 92FS in the other hand… It was one of Eric’s most treasured item. Semi auto pistol- given the heavy duty Brigadier slide with tritium night sights, radiused back strap, a 4.7" barrel. It was an excellent target gun at 25, 50 yards and beyond. It was specially remodeled so nobody except Eric was able to handle it. Whenever Eric had trouble or worry he sat down in his workroom and polished his already shinny treasure.
I’m sorry I have to keep on hiding everything from you…
but if you find out the truth..
I don’t know if you’ll be able to handle it anymore…
I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle it either
*** Part 3 ***
It's been almost a month and nothing much had come back to Ji Eun. But she was pretty quick to get around the neighbor, going to the market with ahjumma helped alot. Eric was alot of times busy with his 'secret' agent work. Sometimes he came home really late, maybe like 3 in the morning. Ji Eun always stayed up for him. He always told her not to wait but Ji Eun told him it was cuz she wanted to see him come home safely, but the truth was she was afraid to go to sleep alone.
It was a sunny afternoon that day, Ji Eun decided to take a walk to the market area by her self.
" ahjumma I'll be back~" Ji Eun tightened her shoelace.
"but Ms. Yi are you sure you'll be o.k alone?"
ahjumma looked like as if she was sending a kindergartens out to the store by her self.
"yah I'll be alright! I'll be back in an hour o.k? don't worry"
Ji Eun jumped lightly up on her feet and walked out the door and out of the gate.
"oh dear... just incase I'll give Mr. Mun a call..."
*Ring~~ Ring~~*
The phone started ringing inside Eric's pocket.
"hello?"
"Mr. Mun it's me"
ahjumma's voice flew through the speaker.
"yes? is everything alright?"
"well I don't know if it's anything so important, but I was just worried."
"what is it?"
Eric was getting nervous. What if something went wrong with Ji Eun?
"Ms. Yi went out to the market by her self. She insisted on going out by her self today. she said she would
be back in an hour but I was just worried and I thought you should at least know."
"alright. Thank you for calling me. She'll be alright. She's a big girl. Thank You"
"bye"
Eric hung up the phone and quickly dialed a number in.
"yes?"
The men on the other line picked up.
"it's Eric Mun. Do me a favor. go out to the market down my house and look for a girl with long black hair that comes down to her shoulders, pale face.. and she’s probable alone.. when you do....
just keep an eye on her. Don't do anything just follow her around. If anything happens, then you go and get her."
It didn't sound like much of a favor rather commanding the man.
"no problem."
not even saying 'bye' or 'talk to you later' they both hung up.
(the market)
"Ooh~ this is so pretty... I think it'll look good on Eric ..."
Ji Eun picked up the Rose red colored tie that had little designs that she couldn't figure out what they were trying to show.
"how much is this?"
"15 dollars"
‘Damn expensive for a market price..’
"Here you go thank you"
Ji Eun was walking down the shopping center swinging her bag back and forth. There was a gust of wind coming
from the building window next to her. She took a deep breath of the fresh cold air. Then it hit her. There was a smell of orange as the wind past by. Ji Eun turned her head towards the window. There was no one there.
'maybe it's the orange that I ate at home...'
She sniffed at her hand but there was no smell of orange left on her.
‘ am I just getting hungry?’
There was two man dressed in a nice clean black suit hiding behind the sliding doors.
"Hey Jin! I found her. That's her right?"
Andy called to the other man.
"yup. That's her. Long hair.. pale face.. Are you sure it's o.k for us to be doing this? if boss finds out.. we're dead meat"
Jin seemed afraid of the situation they were in.
"Hey don't say that. This is for Eric. don't you remember what he did for us when we were caught drinking
in the club while work time? He practically saved our ass. This is atleast what we can do for him."
The other guy was pretty confident alright.
"I know.. but how long are we going to follow her? Didn’t you ever see woman shop? Once they start they can never stop."
"oh~ just shut up and keep your eyes open."
"I’m telling you this is gonna take time..."
Jin took out a cigarette and lit it up carefully blocking the wind blowing with his hands.
"did you hear?"
"about what?"
Jin offered Andy a cigarette as well.
"I heard that girl disappeared"
"what girl?"
"you know her~ the one boss favored.. what was her name? Eun.. Ji? Ji Soo? Eh something like that"
Jin couldn’t quite make out her name.
"yea I heard. What happened to her? Well boss shouldn’t be too happy about this…"
Andy casually took a drag and blew it out back to the cold air.
"I don’t know. Nobody knows. Some people are saying she ran away… and some says that the Dae Jin corp., while on her duty must have killed her. But hey~ who knows. From what I heard the boss is secretly frenzied to find her him self. But you know how he doesn’t show it."
"She was a weird one alright… never showed her face. I wonder if boss ever saw her.. after all he’s the one who made her who she was."
"Enough with that we might lose her c’mon"
***Part 4***
' wow... look at the time.. I didn't realize it had gone this late.. ahjumma is gonna get worried...'
Ji Eun stared into her watch when suddenly again she smelled the orange fragrance coming from somewhere.
‘This time I’m really not hallucinating..’
she lifted her head. just some couple, an old lady, and a mother and daughter passing by.
"come on get a grip Ji Eun it's only a perfume!"
Ji Eun smacked her forehead just enough to make a thud.
She was half way to the exit when the smell of the orange surrounded her body. Another hard gust of wind blew her long hair right on to her face.
"ugh! you stupid wind!"
She swept the streak of hair away from her face.
"holy shit!"
When Ji Eun looked up there was a guy standing in front of her sensibly close enough for his bangs to touch her face.
"what are you doing! you scared me!"
Ji Eun screamed at the guy taking a step back.
"Ji Eun na, is it really you?"
The guy looked as if he was about to cry... well atleast his dark brown eyes made it look like he was about to.
"excuse me? do you know me?"
Ji Eun smelled the orange fragrance. It was he.
"have you been following me?"
Ji Eun arched her eyebrows up. It was a habit she had caught on from Eric.
"well I didn't know what else to do... I wasn't sure if it really was you...
but... what do you mean do I know you? it's me~ Min Woo. Your one and only Min Woo."
Min Woo reached out to grab Ji Eun's arm, but Ji Eun quickly snapped away.
"What are you talking about! I don't know you! my one and only Min Woo? I don't recall you much. Sorry I'm in a hurry so excuse me..."
JI Eun was starting to get dizzy from all these insane words that were coming out of this strangers mouth.
She started walking away as fast as she can. But Min Woo wasn't going to let her go easy like that.
"Ji Eun what's wrong with you! don't you remember me? your fiancé! your soon to be one?"
"...."
Ji Eun just kept on walking.
"Ji Eun listen to me! look at me!"
Min Woo furiously turned her around to face him.
"hey! that hurt! what are you doing! let me go! let me.."
Ji Eun couldn't finish talking from his lips stopping her. She shoved Min Woo hard. I mean really hard, he fell to the floor. People were walking by looking at both very strangely, but no one bothered to stop any of them.
"stop it! what are you doing! I'm an engaged woman do you hear! I don't know you, but if you keep on following me I'm gonna call the police!"
That didn't stop Min Woo. he got up again and started apologizing madly.
"I'm really sorry. I thought maybe that would get you to your senses... I really am sorry. What can I do to make you believe me? oh!"
Min Woo had thought of some thing that was convincing.
"oh what?"
Ji Eun was in a way eager to find out too. Maybe he wasn’t some psycho she thought he was. He might even be the one to unlock her past.
Even before his next words come out of his mouth, two man in black suit came running. One grabbed Min Woo from the back and the other came toward Ji Eun.
"Hey get off of me! what's the idea!"
Min Woo was trying to get free from the man. Although the man was twice his size he was very fluent with his moves. Andy lost grip of Min Woo but before Andy could react to his sudden movement Min Woo’s fist was half way to his stomach.
"Ack!"
Andy fell to the floor breathless. Jin watching the whole scene couldn’t stand it any more.
"yah, nuh moe ya!" Jin swung his fist across Min Woo’s face driving him down to the floor. Ji Eun took a step back surprised. Min Woo had fallen in front of Ji Eun’s feet. He quickly got up to his feet. Facing min Woo’s back Ji Eun looked down to her feet, it seemed he had dropped something. After recognizing what he had dropped she was surly shocked. She quickly picked up the object and shoved it into her purse. She carefully lifted her head to see if anybody saw her action .Ji Eun let out a sigh of relief.
" you fucking touch her one more time and you won't be living long enough to see your next meal!"
Andy had now recovered from Min Woo’s strong punch and was dragging Min Woo towards the exit. Min Woo was fighting him off with all his might. He took his last glance at Ji Eun before both disappeared around the corner. Ji Eun had no idea where the man was taking him. Ji Eun was so staggered by the sudden incident she was dazed for a min.
"what's going on? who are you people and what are you doing with him?"
"Ms. Eric Mun sent us here to look after you. We'll take you back home safely don't worry."
The man was very polite to her but she was still confused about the whole thing. Right now she wasn't able to trust anyone. Even though this man mentioned Eric's name it didn't much buy her.
"no.. no it's o.k. I don't know what you are talking about and.. and going around like you know me or something. But I'll be better off going home by my self."
"but..."
"don’t even think about following me I’m really gonna call the police!"
Ji Eun was walking away even before the man was done talking. Although he let her go by her self she knew both man were following her the way home, she felt the stare on the back of her head, but she didn't bother stopping to acknowledge them. She wasn't even feeling well enough to turn around and give those two man the finger. Ji Eun wasn't quite in the mood to see anybody at the moment so she went straight to her room. She was getting a killer headache.
'what a day.... what's going on Ji Eun... remember.. please~ remember something!'
she remember the man she saw in the shopping center when she saw the oranges on her tea table that she had left this morning.
She quickly opened her purse to find the object she had picked up earlier. There, engraved little number and an initial…0728ML. Holding the object in her hand wasn’t so awkward at all, as if she had possessed it her whole life.
4-1
"Ms.Yi where are you going?" ahjumma came running down the hall.
"I'm just going out to the garden. I want to wait for Eric Shi there"
Ji Eun put her sneakers on. She couldn't stay calm. Eric was supposed to get home 2hrs ago, but he wasn't.
"don't worry he'll be home soon. It's getting cold out there."
Ji Eun ignored ahjumma and went outside. Ahjumma let out a long sigh..
'Damn.. it is cold out here....'
As she was rubbing her hands together to warm herself up, she heard a car pull up in front of the door. it was Eric's black Mercedes
Eric parked the car and walked toward the gate and he saw Ji Eun standing outside.
"Hey~ what are you doing out? you're gonna catch a cold. Come on lets go inside"
"Eric shi I have something to ask you"
"well we can talk inside o.k?"
"o.k"
Ji Eun and Eric entered into their room.
"Eric something weird happened to me today down at the market..."
Eric knew about the whole thing because the two man he had reported earlier in the day.
"what? what happened? I told you not to go out by your self. Do you know how many crazy people are out there!"
Eric acted like he never knew about this. He was good enough to fool Ji Eun.
"I'm sorry Eric Shi... but I'm not a little baby that has to have ahjumma tagging along everywhere! I'm o.k now! I'm not a little memory lose sicko you know!"
Ji Eun rose up her voice. Eric was shocked by her response and forgot his words.
"so..sorry..."
Ji Eun walked to her tea table.
"it's o.k... I know you're going through alot... but I'm just trying to protect you... I don't want you to get hurt..."
Eric wrapped his arms around her from the back.
" well aren’t you going to ask me what happened down there?...oh... wait a sec..."
Ji Eun loosened Eric's arms from her body.
"I remember what I wanted to talk to you about first. Are you spying on me?"
Ji Eun raised her right eyebrow. Eric’s eyebrow also rose..
"N..."
"No! don't try to deny it, they told me already"
She put her arms across her chest.
" I wasn't going to deny it~ they're my friends from work. I had shown them your picture before and they must have remembered
you from the picture. Why? did they say something to you?"
Eric acted as innocent as a baby.
"oh! yea~ why didn't I think of that~ they just happened to be there...."
"yea..."
Eric gave her a shrug.
"No Eric ! they said: We were sent by Eric Mun to look after, we'll take you safely back home."
Ji Eun imitated one of the men with deep manly voice.
"oh god~ I bet they were joking around with you! they are funny you know"
"no I don't know. And I think I would pretty sure know if someone was joking around. Well I will continue this discussion further later on, but here's the real thing"
Ji Eun looked so serious. But Eric was instead finding this amusing. Ji Eun looked so cute being serious
and all. Eric let out a chuckle.
"Hey! I'm being serious here!"
Ji Eun pinched Eric's arm.
"yea, you don't have to tell me twice"
"now, c'mon pay attention!"
"yes m'am."
Eric put out a serious business look...still trying to hide his smile.
"I was down at the market today, as you know, then this weird man came up to me and started saying he knew me and all...he scared the crap out of me... then when I told him to stop following me he grabbed me... and... then he was about to tell me something… "
Ji Eun purposely left out the part about the kiss why make things worse then it is already?
"..and when he was about to say it.... your two 'friends' show up and took him away~ what a joke huh!"
JI Eun for some reason didn’t wan to tell him what she had possessed from the guy. It felt more right to keep it that way. Eric was still silent thinking hard about something.
"Eric shi.."
"How did he look like?"
"um..."
Ji Eun looked up at the ceiling as if trying to picture his face.
"He was about your size... had dark…deep eyes... clean pale face... and..."
‘and he smelled like... orange....orange... my favorite smell...'
"I don't know who it can be... we never knew anyone like that...."
Eric looked the other way so their eyes won't meet because other wise he was afraid Ji Eun might see the doubt in his eyes.
"you think..."
"what?"
"you think he might have anything to do with my memory lose?"
Ji Eun's voice was shaking now.
"I.. don't know... I really don't...I'm sorry."
"no.. it's nothing to be sorry for.. I'm scared Eric shi... can you hold me?.."
Eric quietly stepped toward her and embraced her into his arms.
'no... I knew something like this was going to happen... but not this soon...'
Eric gazed out the window in his deep thoughts... rain was drizzling down the window.
****
Min Woo was Driving down to his house. Rain was hitting hard on the window. After being dragged out of the shopping center Min Woo was able to escape from Andy’s arms and ran across the highway. The green lights started all the cars to drive and prevented Andy from following after him. He saw Andy kicking the floor and cursing every possible way. Min Woo’s head wasn’t functioning clear. ‘I know that was Ji Eun… why did she act that way? It seemed like she didn’t know me at all… something is really wrong… damn…’
Min Woo loosened his right hand from the handle toward his waist like a habit.
‘! Oh shiet… what duh.. what happened to it…’
Min Woo was searching desperately for it on his waist.
‘where did it go… yah right.. it can’t be… did I drop it when I fell to the floor?’
Min Woo quickly made a sharp U-turn and headed back to the market.
It was getting pretty late but people were still around. The lost object was nowhere in sight. Someone must have taken it.
Bbrrring~ Rring~
The phone started going off inside Min Woo’s coat pocket.
"yes, Lee Min Woo speaking… yes sir…yes.. alright I’ll be there soon."
Min Woo closed the flip of the cell. It must have been an unpleasant call, cuz it was shown all over his face from the annoyed expression that appeared as soon as he heard the other voice.
He took his last glance around the floor where everything had happened before.
"Damn…"
***Part5***
6 months had passed already. Ji Eun slowly started forgetting about the incident with Min Woo but every time she saw the wooden box that she had locked the object in reminded her of the odd incident.
It was Sunday and finally Eric and Ji Eun were going to have their own day out at the park.
"Eric shi, isn't this great? I thought your boss was never gonna say yes when you were asking him for the day off~"
Ji Eun held Eric's hand tighter.
"Well the important thing is we're here right?" Eric was happy too.
He loved being with Ji Eun the happiest time of the day was when he came back home and she would always be waiting for him before going to sleep..
"why couldn't you have regular jobs like any other man have... go to work 6 days... have the Sundays off..."
Ji Eun was always complaining about that.
"Well if I did have one of those regular jobs I couldn't buy you those new pair of shoes, silk dress, purse to match it... and...what else? ah~ your new shiny BMW328ia. So there, does that make you feel better?"
Eric looked at Ji Eun like a proud winner.
"yea.. yea.. what ever same excuses all the time..."
Ji Eun waved her hand in front of his face.
"well so far you were never able to beat it so hm!"
If someone passing by saw both walking down together, they would all think Eric and Ji Eun was a typical couple...but happiness wasn’t going to follow for too long… Eric knew… he only denied it.
"Lets settle down over here. There's a lot of shade."
Eric opened up the blanket.
"well I hope we have some food left! after you eating like that on the way here I'd be surprised if there was a crumb of sandwich left~"
"Hey~ I only ate one!"
"uh~huh..."
"hey! you want to settle this? right now right here~ 1 game of arm wrestling!"
Eric started rolling up his sleeves.
"oh yah~!"
Ji Eun also started rolling up her sleeves.
"Ha! you think you can beat me? come on let it on!"
They both laid on their stomach, facing each other.
Eric's hand was twice the size as Ji Eun's.
Ji Eun pushed Eric's arm as hard as possible.
"ha that's the best you can do!"
But Ji Eun wasn't joking around anymore. She was getting pissed at him for not letting her win at once.
Eric noticed her stare too, but he thought he'd let her win in a little while. Surprisingly Ji Eun's hand loosened.
She wasn't looking at him either.
"Hey~ I'm sorry I was gonna let you win in a second~ I swear"
"no Eric shi..."
Ji Eun still wasn't looking at him.
"yes~ yes I was!"
Eric didn't know why she wouldn't believe him.
"no that's not what I'm talking about...babo"
".. don't look.. but that man in back of you... sitting on the bench I think I saw him when we got here...
and while we were walking I saw him again.. and now he's sitting there looking at us... well reading the news paper, but I know he's looking at us..."
"how do you know?"
"uhr.... cuz... he's glancing at us.. every 5 seconds...why is he doing that? is he one of your friends joking with us again?"
They both sat up. Eric took a glance toward the man.
'shit... I have to take Ji Eun out of here'
Eric suddenly didn't know what to do.
"I don't know. I told you there were so many crazy people here~"
"oh..."
Ji Eun looked kind of worried.
"you know what Ji Eun?"
"what?"
"I think..."
"yea"
"I think... my stomach is turning.... I think it's the sandwich I had in the car..."
Eric was grabbing on to his stomach.
"aish~ I told you not to eat while you were driving! Never listens...you think we should head home now?... it's getting late anyway..."
"should we...?"
Eric was so happy she brought it up, but quickly hid his smile behind the wrinkled face he was making.
"yea... what a picnic.. we sat here for like 10 minutes..."
Ji Eun looked more disappointed then ever.
"we'll do this again sometime.."
"Eric shi~ I'm telling you something is weird... that car. you see that car? look at the driver it's that man!"
Ji Eun pointed to the car appearing in the rear mirror.
Eric didn't look like he minded much.
"Ji Eun, are you still hung up on that silly thought? no one is following us~ the nice old ahjushi is just
trying to get home."
Maybe Eric was right. The man was no longer following their car.
They came into the house and the smell of kimchi jjigae filled their noses.
"ahjuma we're home! wow~ something smells great~"
JI Eun took her coat off and hung it on the wall hook.
"I'm cooking your favorite~ go on and wash up, dinner will be ready soon."
"oh thank you ahjuma~ you are the best!"
Ji Eun gave her a big hug.
"Hey~! who's the one that took you to the park today!"
Eric had a displeased look on his face.
"yea~ wow I feel so special~!" Ji Eun poked his stomach hard, and ran up stairs.
Eric ran after her.
‘ hoo hoo~ I never saw Mr. Mun happier… I just hope everything stays this way forever…’
ahjuma stared at the two running in circle around the sofa set.
Ji Eun headed up the stairs and so did Eric, to catch up with her but it wasn't too hard a thing cuz she suddenly stopped running.
"uh.. um.. Eric shi I'll be right back.. I left my purse in the car."
Ji Eun said uncertainly.
"oh really? I'll go and get it for you, you go and wash up first o.k?"
Eric gave her a nudge.
"no! no, Eric shi... I know where I left it I'll go and get it. Besides I wanted to go and look at some.. plants out
in the garden before it got too dark..."
Ji Eun was struggling with her words.
Eric didn't seem to notice. That was weird though... he always had his keen sense...
maybe he was trying to give her little space of her own. Or maybe he was so caught up in his happiness he didn’t want to notice.
"alright.. just be back in as fast as you can alright?"
"yes Eric shi~"
.
"WAIT!"
Ji Eun turned around looking straight into Eric’s eyes. This time Eric poked Ji Eun’s stomach.
"the next time we play your it!"
Eric fled toward the bedroom Ji Eun gave him a smile rolling her eyes.
Ji Eun looked around the gate looking for something.
'I know I saw him.. I just know..'
She looked around the corner of the house but no sign of him. Nowhere.
She was taking her paste back to the house when suddenly there was an aroma of orange fragrance.
For some reason the smell made her legs weak. Ji Eun leaned against the wall to get hold of her self.
'He's here...'
Ji Eun turned around.
"AAHHHHH~!"
There was a man standing right behind her with baseball cap over his head.
She didn't know why she was screaming. She knew he was gonna be there.
"shh!"
He put his finger on his lips. At the same time Ji Eun quickly covered her mouth as if that's gonna stop the sound.
"sorry. you scared me."
Ji Eun uncovered her mouth.
"how did you find my house?"
"That’s nothing…hey..."
The guy was looking at her with clueless expression.
"what?"
"you’re not running away from me."
"uh.. yea.. I want to know... what you know..."
Ji Eun couldn't see his face because of the shade from the cap..
"Thanks."
The guy put his hands on her shoulders. it made Ji Eun's body shudder.
"for what..?"
"for opening your heart to me again... I knew you would."
Now they were both in a warm cafe. Drinking tea.
The guy had taken his cap off. He looked much more sweeter then when they first met.
"so... I don't know where to start... how do you know me anyway?"
Ji Eun asked in her shy voice. And at the same time her eyebrows arched up.
"Ji Eunna... you really don't remember do you...."
"remember what?"
"me.. and you... 'us'!"
"us?"
"yea us... you.. you're my fiancée... we were supposed to get married as soon as my grandfather passed down his estate to me and few other things, but one day.. you disappeared. I couldn't find you anywhere. no one knew where you...." The guy was stopped buy Ji Eun’s voice.
"hold your horses stranger~ look. I want to know stuff... but one at a time... what are you talking about?
I have a fiancé already... the house you found me was 'our' house. We live together."
The guy had a confused face and a unbelieving expression at the same time.
"What’s your name anyway?"
Ji Eun remembered him saying his name when they first met but with all that going on she couldn’t remember.
"It's Min Woo."
Min Woo decided to talk her way. If that was the only way he was going to get her back.
"why are you keep on saying you are my fiancé? wait a second..."
Min Woo noticed the sudden fear in her eyes.
"what?"
"are you some sort of stalker trying to take advantage of my memory lost?"
Ji Eun sank deeper in to her seat.
"Memory lost? is that it? are you in amnesia?"
Min Woo had a deep concern drawn across his eyes.
"so... you didn't know?"
"no.. I'm sorry..."
Unexpectedly a little smile drew across Min Woo’s face.
"what’s that smile ob yours supposed to mean?"
Ji Eun couldn’t understand why he was doing that.
"huh? Oh sorry.. did I smile?"
Min Woo was trying to hide it but the smile wasn’t disappearing.
"urr… yea…"
"I was just thinking… you um.. your gong ju byung is still in you…"
Min Woo stared into his coffee. He was thinking back to the days… the happy times…
"excuse me??"
Ji Eun’s face started flushing pink.
"oh sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you… the way you thought I was stalking you.. haha I know it would be rude to say to you now.. but if you said that back then… I would’ve said back ‘who would follow an ugly duckling like you?’ well don’t get me wrong… hoo… it’s really hard to deal with this kind of your attitude towards me…"
"an ugly duckling? That’s a bit harsh to hear from someone I hardly remember.."
"No~ I don’t really mean it… when we were…. Seeing each other. When my friends told me you were really pretty I told them you were my ugly duckling and no one else was able to love you except me…"
Min Woo’s expression now turned sad rather then the cute smile he had on before.
Everything was interesting about Min Woo to Ji Eun, what he was saying… his expression while he was saying those words…
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.."
Min Woo brushed his face down with both hands.
"it's o.k~ you didn't even know."
Ji Eun for some reason started feeling closer to this guy.
"no.. I knew something was wrong... you were acting weird... you seemed disturbed all the time...you didn't want to talk to me or meet me... I knew something was wrong... "
Min Woo had a blank expression on his face.
"that's because I didn't remember you."
Ji Eun was trying to Cheer him back up.. sort of.
"no... I'm talking about before you lost your memory...but being the stupid me I was too busy with my own life "
"then.. you really did know me? you really did?"
"I told you! how many times do I have to tell you? I can prove it!"
"......"
Ji Eun felt light in the head again.... what was coming at her... what was she going to discover from this
stranger....
***Part 6****
"Ji Eun na are you o.k?"
Min Woo gave her a hand when she looked like she was going to fall off her seat.
But she pushed his hand away from her.
"I'm alright... just.. alittle dizzy I guess.."
Min Woo took out a little picture out of his pocket.
"This is you and me... we went to the Nam San tower together and took this picture..."
Min Woo handed her the picture. There was Min Woo and a girl that looked just like her in his arms.
"Who's this?"
Ji Eun pointed to the girl.
"it's you... the picture’s not that old.. well you can say it’s pretty recent. We were supposed to go to Jae Ju Island that day.. but because of the weather the plane got cancelled... you were wearing you favorite blue shirt.. you said you had to look the best when you were with me..."
Ji Eun was staring hard at the picture.
"my favorite blue shirt? no... my favorite is red..."
"you never wear red... you said it didn't go with your skin color...you loved pastel blue colors... and that day, you couldn't go back home because you had lost your keys and came over my house to spend the night until you got the spare key from the land lord.... that night I got really sick. You tucked me into bed and sang me our song...."
Ji Eun was falling deep in to his story of... so he says 'us'
"... Ha nur urbo nyun na are soo it suh yo guh dae uh tuh gae ji nae shi nun ji............. Forever love...forever with you..."
"nae sang myung yi da ha nun nar gga ji do, na young won hee byul ur bo myu dda ra gar gguh ye yo...."
Ji Eun mumbled with him in a soft singing voice.
"you remember don't you! Ji Eun you have to remember!"
'no... no... what is he doing to me? I don't know him! Ji Eun you have to get out of here... !! Eric...'
Ji Eun had forgotten that she told him she was only going out to get her purse.
"I uh... i...."
Ji Eun got out of her seat and started running out the door. Min Woo followed quickly out the door.
"Ji Eun wait! Please~"
With no hesitation Ji Eun stopped running on her spot and turned around to face Min Woo.
But Min Woo on the other hand almost tripped over from stopping so suddenly.
"There is one thing I really want to know the truth about…"
Ji Eun looked nervous bringing up the subject.
"what is it? Anything! I’ll tell you"
Min Woo tilted his head side to side waiting for the words to come out of her mouth.
"who really are you…"
Ji Eun wasn’t looking directly at him.
"I told you I’m your.."
"no. I don’t mean that."
"then?"
"aren’t you missing something of yours?"
Min Woo’s eyes opened wide. But Ji Eun wasn’t able to see cuz she was looking down at her feet.
"you.. have it?"
"yea.. you dropped it when you fell in front of me…"
"do you have it now?"
"no… I came out right away when I spotted you and forgot to bring it out...but why would you have something like that?"
Ji Eun slowly lifted her head to meet Min Woo’s gaze.
"I um.. well.."
Min Woo wasn’t able to make out his words.
"no. forget it. Don’t tell me… let’s make that an excuse to bump into each other some other time… if there is really something between you and I… and if it’s faith… we’ll meet again right? Well till then…"
"No I.."
Before Min Woo can make out his words Ji Eun was already running around the corner.
Min Woo didn’t bother to catch up to her this time. He was in away happy that she was looking forward to meet him again.
"hm.." Min Woo suddenly smirked.
"you are the same Ji Eun that I knew. You were always brave… which other woman would face up to a guy that she had found who had possession of guns…" Min Woo quietly said to him self.
JI Eun had alot of time to think while walking back home.
'who is Min Woo.... is it all true what he is saying?... it can't be... I have Eric Shi... but..
what do I really know about him.. except that he was the first one to find me... how did he know I was
in a hospital...'
without even realizing she was now standing in front of her gate. no car. Eric must have gone out to find her.
" Ms. Yi! where have you been! are you alright? what happened?"
"ahjuma where's Eric shi?"
Ji Eun had no life in her voice.
"He went out to look for you.. it's been about half an hour since he left. I'd better give him a call."
"no. I'll do that... ahjumma..."
Ji Eun looked in to ahjuma's eyes.
"who am I?"
"excuse me?"
Ji Eun noticed ahjuma's face flush.
"tell me the truth... how do you know me? who really am I? when I first came to this house...
you looked so confused about me... what is it?"
"what on earth are you talking about Ms Yi. are you sick? you don't look very well why don't you go lay down and I'll bring you up something to eat."
ahjumma looked nervous and concerned.
"no.. I want to be alone. thank you."
Ring~ Ring~
"Ji Eun? is that you?"
Eric's frantic voice came out of the receiver.
"......"
"Ji Eun?"
"nope."
It was a guy’s voice. Familiar to Eric.
"Jang Woo Hyuk..."
Eric's voice was shaking.
"yes, yes... were you expecting a call?"
Woo Hyuk's voice sounded calm and relaxed.
"I have no time for this."
"who did you mean by Ji Eun?"
"none of your business.."
"just as I figured... where is she."
the voice wasn't asking it was demanding.
" What makes you think I know?"
Eric was back to his old self.
"you know you can't hide from me. Get over here now.
"I'm busy."
"ha! you think your good enough now Eric Mun? who took you in when you were thrown on the street? who made you who you are? Who do you think you are to challenge me now?"
"you have your answer right there. you made me who I am."
"I'm sending out man to get you now."
There was a click of the phone hanging up.
"shit...!"
Eric drove faster.
*Ring~Ring*
"...."
"Eric shi?"
Eric had forgotten he had picked up the phone by his disquieting thoughts.
"Ji Eun is that you??"
"yea."
Eric felt a feel of relief in his heart.
"where are you?"
"At your house..."
! your house.... it made Eric's heart skip a bit.
"I'm on my way."
6-2
Ji Eun stood next to the wooden box. Her hand shook violently as she took the keys near the hole.
Click~ the sound of the lock unlocking seemed to echo through out the room. Inside laid Ji Eun and Min Woo’s only string of connection, Cougar8000F.
Ji Eun took the pistol into her own hands Cougar8000F was a semi automatic, recoil-operated hand weapon. The pistol was designed with a thumb safety to only activate once the pistol was cocked.
Ji Eun heard the doorbell ring. Eric must have gotten home already. Ji Eun naturally with no hesitation placed the pistol on her back fastening it between her body and the belt she was wearing. Her movement was so fluent she surprised her self.
"Ji Eun are you alright?"
Eric ran up to her to embrace her but Ji Eun took a step back.
"what's wrong? did something happen? where did you go?"
"Eric shi.... tell me the truth..."
Ji Eun's voice was still lifeless.
"about what?"
Eric took her face softly in his hands and made her look into his eyes. Ji Eun couldn't take all this. Everything was coming to her all at once. All too soon. She wasn't strong enough to take all this. She felt her legs loosen... her mind drifting away.... she saw darkness... nothing there.... she raised her arm to grasp on to something... something to stop her from falling into the dark black hole....
"How is she?"
Ahjumma came into the room knocking softly.
"still the same... ahjuma why is she acting like this? what did she find out?"
Eric couldn't get his mind straight.
"I don't know... but when she walked into the house... she asked me... who she really was...
she looked so confused... you think something might have come back to her?"
ahjuma took the cold towel off Ji Eun's forehead and changed it with a new one.
Then Eric remembered about Jang Woo hyuk. He said he was going to send people out to get him...
he had to get out of the house.
"ahjuma quickly pack your stuff... we have to get out of the house as soon as possible."
Eric impatiently said to her.
"is something wrong?"
"you trust me right?"
"yes.. but..."
"please ahjuma we have no time..."
ahjuma nodded her head and exited the room. As soon as she did Eric started
packing his and Ji Eun's stuff in to the big suitcases.
"mm....no.. mi ..yan hae(I’m sorry).. *sniff sniff* Min.. Woo…ya.."
‘what is she saying? Min Woo…? Who is she talking about?… she can’t possibly be talking about…’
* sniff* no.. No please~NOOOO!"
JI Eun opened her eyes instantly, feeling the tears and sweet rolling down her face.. it was hard to tell which was which.
"Ji Eun..."
Eric called softly to Ji Eun holding her hands in his.
"Eric shi...I..um"
Ji Eun couldn’t continue her words. She hugged Eric tightly.
She had an horrible dream… she was letting somebody go… to leave her… and for her self to leave him. she couldn’t see the persons face. No he had no face. It was just a black hole. The scary part was she knew who it was.. she kept on saying sorry.. calling and calling to his name. But he disappeared first leaving her in the dark.
‘Why did I think it was him? And why was I saying sorry to him?’
Eric was patting her back gently.
"yea... I'm here.. don't worry."
tears continuously streamed down Ji Eun's face.
"Hey don't cry... everything's alright..."
"*sniff..sniff* no.. Eric shi... it's n... hey.. where are we?"
As Ji Eun opened her eyes she noticed the surroundings weren’t familiar to her.
"um we're in a hotel..."
"why?"
"it's not important.... are you alright?"
tears were still streaming down her cheeks.
"Eric shi... don't hide it from me.."
"hide what? what are you talking about?"
"about me... me.. the real me. and you.... who are you?..."
"what do you mean who are you.. and who am I?"
Eric looked confused as well. But it wasn't going to stop Ji Eun.
"I had a lot of time to think. and there were so many questions... questions that I refused to answer my self..
but I know I can't run away from it forever... Eric shi. how do you know me... I know you're not my fiancé... how did you know to find me in a hospital if you didn't know how I ended up there?... why are you hiding all this from me? please... help me put together the pieces..."
"Ji Eun you just need some more rest..."
"Eric shi!!!"
Ji Eun yelled out with all her mighty. It startled Eric like hell.
"why are you doing this to me! why is every one doing this to me?! what is such a big deal that I can't find out? huh!"
"Ji Eun calm down!"
Eric was trying to lay Ji Eun back into bed when she suddenly got up on her feet. JI Eun lost balance from the dizziness, but managed to get
back to her feet. As soon as she did she looked around her. Ji Eun spotted a metal letter opener and grabbed it in her hands.
"Eric shi! don't come close to me! I'm gonna do it... it you come closer I'm gonna kill my self!"
Ji Eun took the letter opener to her neck.
"Ji Eunna! why are you doing this! you're just confused!"
Ji Eun started running for the door. Eric ran after the frighten girl.
He grabbed her just before she can reach the doorknob.
"get off of me!"
Ji Eun swung her arm in the air. She felt the metal slid down Eric's cheek.
"Ahh!!"
Eric loosened his grip from the pain. JI Eun dropped the letter opener on the floor. she couldn't believe what had just happened. Ji Eun saw this was the chance to run a way. Ji Eun ran across the halls. She was so scared. Her heart told her to go back to Eric, and see if he was o.k , but her mind was telling her to run... and her legs were over ruled by her mind. She was running again.. running like her dream....
Part7***
It was so cold... Ji Eun had forgotten to grab her jacket before coming out of the hotel. The surroundings were very unfamiliar to her. The only place she had gone out after coming out of the hospital was the market in Eric's neighbor.
'hoo... where am I supposed to go now? Ji Eun you babo.. why did you run out like that? you know Eric shi isn't a bad person...I wonder if he's alright'
As if she had just been reminded of it her hand headed toward her back waist. It was still there in the same spot she had put in. with sigh of relief, Ji Eun crunched her body together, walked down the street, and not knowing where it would lead her.
****
Eric walked back and forth in the 13th floor VIP hotel room. You were clearly able to see the deep cut mark left by Ji Eun's incident.
"JI Eun what did you find out? why are you acting like this?"
Eric grabbed his hair out of frustration.
It was too dangerous for Ji Eun to be walking around the street by her self... If Jang Woo Hyuk found Ji Eun wondering around, he was not a person to leave her the way she was. Eric wore his pistol holster around his body placing Beretta92FS security inside. He quickly grabbed his coat and ran out of the warm cozy room to the cold and unwelcoming outside....
Winter 1994******
"Hey you! Get up!"
His voice was as cold as a brick of ice.
the boy looked up in slow motion. It was hard to see his face from his hair covering half way.
"mol jjae ryu bwa! (what are you staring at!) get up when I say it nicely"
He snarled at the boy.
The guy looked about his age. He had a pale skinny face, his eyes looked as cold as his voice...looking down at him....ready to eat him up alive...
The boy got up slowly, shaking off the dirt on his jeans at the same time.
"Moe ya?"
The boys voice had no fear. It was confidant and challenging.
"ha.. hahaha! are you saying you don't know who I am? Hahaha"
The guy started laughing loudly mockingly, but soon after his face stiffened
The man standing next to him stepped in feeling the intensity grow,
"Who do you think you are to not recognize the boss! The man standing in front of you is Jang Woo Hyuk,
the head of the Myung Sung Corp..."
The man stopped when Woo Hyuk raised his hand signaling him.
"no need to explain every detail. I've been seeing you around and saw the way you handle the streets.
Maybe you haven’t realized but you are roaming around my territory... and the consequences you'll have to deal are severe"
The Boy tilted his head in question.
"Consequences? For what?"
"For what? haha, you are keep on amusing me with your questions... I'm guessing you’re not from around here, so I will make this one special occasion to explain. You’re in my territory with out my permission. No permission. No stay. It's simple. Violate the rules and you get your consequences."
Woo Hyuk made it short and easy for anyone to understand. He was always that way. He didn't like the fact that he had to explain things to people, when they should just understand in the snap of his fingers.
"chi...."
The Boy let out a sneer.
"So what your saying is that now I'm gonna have to suffer my consequences because I roamed around your territory?"
He restated his situation in a simpler way.
"I like a man like you. Understands everything during the first time."
"well I understand everything perfectly but too sorry I have no time to be playing your little games."
Eric started walking away but suddenly a hand grabbed his shoulder swinging him around to face the person. He saw the fist fly up to his face and instantly blocked it with his hand, blew him a upper cut leaving the guy on the floor.
"and I’m also impressed too… but oh well. I have no time to play your little games either. I was going to make this easy for you but I guess a man like you just can’t let things go simply.
Eric saw something move towards his body but passed out even before he can make out what it was.
****
"ugh…"
Eric felt the striking pain on his stomach.
"now are you ready to negotiate?"
Eric saw the dark figure sitting away from the lights.
"what do you want."
"you"
"Me? Why? For what?"
"as my right hand man. I’ve always wanted a guy like you next to me. We can lead the Myung Sung together. Make it the #1 mafia in Korea. What do you say?"
Woo Hyuk leaned forward from the chair.
"mafia… hoo. Hahaha"
Eric started with a little smile to a out bursting laugh.
" I usually don’t like to talk a lot. But the reason I’m making this a special occasion is because I can see everything…"
"see what?"
"the anger.. the coldness… the loneliness… I feel like looking into my self few years ago. So what do you say?"
Eric didn’t need to think much more.
"I’ll do it."
"Good. I’m satisfied. I’ll send people down here with new clothes for you to dress into. And they’ll send you up to my office. I have things to discuss with you.
As if the man outside the door had been listening and waiting for their conversation to end, he opened the door. And Woo Hyuk walked out with out any further notice.
Knock.. knock..
"yes come in."
after the short answer Eric walked in. He looked more handsome in suits and ties then the baggy jeans and the dirty t-shirt that he had been dressed in before. Eric seemed alittle uncomfortable in his new he called ‘uniform’. Eric looked up at Woo Hyuk and noticed someone standing next to him. It was hard to tell the difference if that person was a woman or a man cuz of the half covered face. But the figure of the body definitely told him she was a woman.
"sit down please. Oh and I like you to meet my co assistance Yi Ji Eun."
Eric bowed down mannerly and so did Ji Eun.
"what I wanted to discuss about was that, now that I have my right hand and left hand man, I can slowly take my step forward. In order for us to expand in to Korea. We have to start by taking over little territories. One By One… everything will be ours…"
The two saw the fire burn in Woo Hyuk’s eyes.
"I’m going to set both of you as partners. You guys are one of my bests so don’t disappoint me. I’ll look forward to your works."
Woo Hyuk handed Eric an envelope with some lumpy things inside.
"you’ll need it. Make sure you keep all of these on your body and not lose it."
Both were dismissed from the office. Walking out of the door. Now standing in front of the elevator door, Eric shoved his hand out.
"well since we’re going to be partners from now on why don’t we shake hands?"
Ji Eun stared at the hand in the mid air.
"well? You know soon or later my hands gonna start hurting."
"then I suggest you put it down before it actually falls off."
*ding*
Ji Eun walked into the elevator. Eric stood there trying to figure out what had just happened.
‘what a b*tch… Eric see what happens once you try to be nice to someone?’
They were both silent while the elevator went down.
4…
3…
2…

*ding*
"ah yah~!"
Eric and Ji Eun got stuck o the elevator door by going out at the same time.
"aish jae so up suh…"
Ji Eun mumbled to her self and walked away first.
"yah nuh… what duh…"
Eric was left alone speechless. But like his usual self instead of getting mad, it almost amused him.
‘girl with attitude… that’s something new.’
Girls that were usually around him always tried to please him. They would try anything to catch his attention. Everything except getting attitude on him. That was defiantly not a way to please him.
For some reason his footsteps were following hers. No.. they didn’t have to go the same way. But he just got curious who she was.
Ji Eun was heading for the parking lot. With her long trench coat down to her ankle and the deep pressed on hat others would mistake her as a small bodied man.
She opened the door to a white MercedesE300D( back in the 94’s it was a nice model.) and shut the door . The engine soon went on followed by the headlight. She slowly took her coat off. She was dressed in a clean formal suit. But the next move surprised Eric the most. She was starting to take her clothes off. She glanced toward the back seat and grabbed for a black bag. She unzipped the zipper and took out some baggy jeans… nice clean V-neck t-shirt and started putting them on. Even while changing it was hard to make out her face from her long wine red color hair covering her face. But as if she had read his mind she casually brushed her hair back. She was a beauty. She had eyes with the perfect ssang kka pul (that line thing on your eye lid), the perfect little nose and small strawberry red lips.
‘I wonder why she covers her beautiful face like that… it looks much more better this way.’
With out even realizing him self he was admiring her. Eric took a step forward to see better, but by mistake stepped on the crashed glass piece. Ji Eun had quite a keen sense. She instantly looked up at Eric. Eric just stood on his spot wordless. Eric saw Ji Eun open the car door and stand looking straight into his eyes.
"nuh! How long have you been standing there?"
Ji Eun looked more upset then ever.
Eric looked around right and left as to see if anybody else was in there with them.
"who me? I.. I was just passing by what are you talking about? What make you think I was looking at you? Why would I even care?"
Eric was talking too much. ‘hey. Why do I feel so nervous when ever I’m around her?’
"da bwat nya? (did you see everything?)"
"you can say that."
‘arg! You stupid Eric you’re supposed to say no!’
Eric started smacking the back of his head with his hand.
"don’t worry you don’t have to apologize so quickly I’m not offended at all!"
Ji Eun rolled her eyes.
"apologize? For what? There is completely no reason why I should apologize."
Ji Eun shook her head side to side and sat right back into her car. She started her gear and the (car name) smoothly came next to Eric. He saw her window roll down.
" Make sure I don’t catch you ever again. This is my first and last warning… oh and open the envelope now"
Even before he can reply she was long way gone.
"envelope? Oh~ the envelope."
Inside were a cellular phone, and two keys. The cell was for Woo Hyuk to reach him at any time. And one of the keys was for his new car and the other for his new house.
There was a little note inside also.
Parking lot space number:
348.
House address:
Seoul bang bae dong 623-27
There were numbers sprayed on the ground under the car. 346..347..348.
There stood same exact car as Ji Eun but black, shiny and new.
‘damn.. this is my car? Then it’s obvious how my new house is going to look like…’
Eric’s prediction was right cuz that was the house he was staying in even three years later.
‘it’s good thing I learned how to drive from Seung’
Seung was a guy he met while roaming around the streets… But no one much more then that.
Eric Drove away from the parking lot. In one hand holding onto the handle and the other holding the piece of paper with his new house address.
‘hoo…hoo… Wherever this leads you to Eric… it was your decision. No one else to blame. No one to care. This might be the start or the end of you life’
****5 years later
The past 5 years didn’t seem as long as it sounded like. Day after day hour after hour Eric had no time to rest. In a way Eric was thankful to Woo Hyuk. He had given him his own house, car, and he got paid worthy for his job. Now all the girls were more then ever all over him. But nothing was able to get to him. Over the years Eric had fallen for a girl name Ji Eun. He never expressed his feelings out but he loved her so much that she was the reason he was able to go on for so long. But Ji Eun never showed interest. She was still the cold Ji Eun he had known from the beginning. At times when they had free hours in hand she would come over and drink tea over at Eric’s house. She never showed much passion to Eric but she seemed to like ahjuma that worked in his house a lot, maybe because she grew up with no mother or parents at all… just like Eric. Just when she seems to open to him, it always ended up failing.
"Time has come."
Woo Hyuk, Ji Eun and Eric sat around the meeting table. Everyone had expressionless face except Woo Hyuk. His face was covered with excitement, and eagerness.
"a month after this day we will strike Dae Jin corp. I have everything in place and planned out. They will never suspect any of our moves. In their knowledge we are planned to take a flight to Jae Ju island taking care of the casino business. Once we are there Dae Jin will strike our main building thinking there isn’t much people to take care of. They might be right about that because we’ll be headed for Dae Jin’s headquarters. They won’t be sending out too many people to ours cuz they won’t think it’s much needed… then there will be quiet a few left, but we can handle that much with no trouble.
Do you both follow?"
"yes, sir."
Eric and Ji Eun answered shortly.
"make sure not to let this plan slip from any of our sides. We will inform to all of our people in 2 days advance."
"I almost forgot, isn’t today the day I’m giving you two vacations till the next two weeks? Why didn’t you two mention it? Haha I understand.. then have a good two weeks… you won’t be able to get a lot of rest after we start moving. … all right you guys may be dismissed"
Ji Eun and Eric got up from the chair, bowed and headed for the door.
"wait, Ji Eun I need to speak to you alone."
Ji Eun turned to Woo Hyuk with no hesitation and walked back into the room. Eric casually walked out of the room as if he didn’t care. But that’s not what he was thinking inside.
‘what does he want with her alone?’
Eric was about to close the door but he heard Woo Hyuk’s voice,
"I have a special project for you…"
Eric closed the door behind him.
‘special project? Why didn’t he ask me too ?’
Eric was getting more and more curious. He looked around the hall, no one was in sight. He took his
HD-33 concrete mic out that he kept in his suit pocket for convenience. Eric slid the earphone into his left ear. Casually leaning back on the wall he put the surface of the mic on the wall. It took about 2 to 3 seconds for him to be able to make out the words the two were saying.
" so do you think you can do it?"
‘do what…?’
"Why are you asking me and not Eric? He should be better at it since he’s a guy."
"no. You are much further more experienced in killing then him. Besides you are much more faster in motion and distant shooting… weren’t you a sniper before I took you in? I know you can do better"
‘ kill who? Why is he making such a big deal out of this? It’s not like we don’t do it all the time.’
"……"
"why? You don’t think you can do it?"
Woo Hyuk’s voice was getting annoyed.
"No sir. Did I ever disappoint you? I’ll do it."
"that’s my Ji Eun. Here’s the folder with all the information you need. And also, I would like it if Eric didn’t know about this. I don’t want to make things complicating."
"Have a good day sir."
Eric heard JI Eun foot steps coming closer and quickly hid around the corner of the wall. He saw JI Eun walking down the hall with a red folder in her hand.
‘Jang Woo Hyuk what are you planning for her? Why am I starting to sweat?’
Ji Eun was walking quickly down the stairs and almost out the main gate staring in to her watch.
"eh-ham~"
Ji Eun turned around. She still had her hat pressed deep on her head.
"moe ya? I thought you’d be out of the building by now. What are you still doing here?"
Ji Eun raised the tip of her hat. Eric in a way felt honored by Ji Eun. The only person that ever saw her face fully was Woo Hyuk and Eric himself. Ji Eun only showed her face to Woo Hyuk cuz she had to show respect. It wasn’t much special for him either, she had two reasons. The first was because he had already seen her face from the incident 5years ago, and another because he was always with her when in meeting with Woo Hyuk.
" I had something to take care of before leaving… where you going?"
Eric shoved his hand in his both pockets.
"none of your business and right now I have no time to talk. I’m late"
Ji Eun looked directly in front of her. She never usually looked at peoples face when talking.
"I’ll give you a ride. You didn’t bring your car today right?"
Ji Eun squinted her eyes from the sun hitting her eyes.
"damn.. that’s right… shit… I’m late.. then can you just drop me off quickly?"
Ji Eun’s voice sounded softer then other times.
"ur.. yea sure."
Eric was surprised. He expected her to refuse him again like she always does. They both stepped into Eric’s Mercedes. Ji Eun didn’t even look at Eric through out the whole time. Which was opposite for Eric. He was so happy she was getting in the car with him, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
"wait." Ji Eun unfastened her seat belt and got out of the car. Eric surprised, just stared at her moves. Ji Eun quickly went around to the back seat.
"alright lets go."
Eric turned around to the back seat and looked directly in to her eyes. Ji Eun feeling his stare didn’t want to meet gaze but also looked up.
"..wh.. what?"
Ji Eun’s face seemed to be turning a shade of pink but it was hard to notice behind her expressionless face.
"do you hate me so much that you don’t even want to sit next to me?"
Eric’s face was also expressionless. He was serious.
" I don’t like you that much but I don’t hate you. If I did hate you I wouldn’t even have gotten into this car in the first place. I have to change my clothes…I’m late so can you start driving and not look back? Head to Dae Hak Ro"
Ji Eun never net gaze with him again and started taking the new clothes from her bag.
"hoo.. ar aht da…(alright…)"
Eric didn’t want to get to an argument with her. Besides it was honor for him to drive the Ji Eun to her meeting place.
‘? Now that I think about it whom is she meeting? She doesn’t know anybody except through business… is it something to do with what her and Woo Hyuk was talking about before? Nah.. it can’t be.. it didn’t sound so urgent.’
Eric didn’t know how long he had been driving but they were almost in sight of the Dae Hak Ro Street.
"stop here"
Eric looked at her through the back mirror. His eyes grew big for a moment. Ji Eun was in her regular clothes. This was the second time he saw her dressed this way after the first incident.
"what?"
Ji Eun seemed to feel a bit awkward too.
"nothing. Dae Hak Ro’s still 3 blocks down."
Eric took his gazed toward the front again.
"it’s alright. I don’t wanna catch peoples stare getting out of this car." She was right, it wasn’t so common for people in Korea to see a Mercedes driving by them.
"alright. I’ll see you tom… I mean in two weeks. Enjoy your vacation."
"yea, bye."
With a short answer Ji Eun closed the car door and was walking down the street. Ji Eun was wearing a baby blue shirt with semi hip-hop jeans. In one hand she held the black bag that had her formal clothes stuffed in.
‘oh yea thanx.. I’ll enjoy mine too…’
Eric was still not used to her rudeness. It hurt him so much every time he heard her careless voice toward him.
*** Part 8
"Ji Eunna! Yuh gi yah! (over here!)^0^" The guy calling to Ji Eun was waving his hands high from the crowd.
"Min Woo ya!!!^^" Nobody would have thought she was the same Ji Eun, the best killer of Myung Sang corp.
"My hunnie~ I missed you so much! It’s so hard to meet up with you, you busy lady!"
Min Woo hugged Ji Eun tightly in his arms. Ji Eun felt like she was going to melt away in his embrace.
"well you’re always busy too! So we’re even alright?"
"yea, yea.. what ever!-_-;"
Min Woo finally let her go. Min Wood had a black turtleneck sweater and a black hip-hop jean on.
"ya! I told you to change today into a brighter clothes! Look at you and me~ we don’t match at all! you look like some kkang pae (bully) coming back from your little crew"
Ji Eun stood akimbo, placing her hands on her waist.
"hah~ sorry I didn’t have time to stop by home"
Min Woo scratched the back of his head.
"Then where did you come from?"
"huh?0.0… Me? Work"
"work? I thought you didn’t really have to work since you were gonna take over your grandfathers work… and besides what does your grandfather do? Some mafia organization? You don’t have to wear black. You know it actually bring down the reputation? I mean you should wear nice formal suits.. with brighter color.. and"
Ji Eun was going to name every single thing.
"alright! Alright! I get it~"
They both walked up to the bench hand in hand.
"So?"
Ji Eun was looking at Min Woo with a big smile.
"so?"
"yea so?"
"so what?"
Min Woo was acting all innocent like he had no idea what she was talking about.
"so did your grandfather give you permission to have the weeks off?"
"oh that…. Uh dduk ha nya… (what should I do…)"
"why? What happened? He won’t give you the weeks off?"
Ji Eun's face drew with disappointment.
"no… I’m gonna be stuck with you for the coming two weeks~"
"jung mal? Jung mal? (really?) yaho~ I’m so happ..hey~ what you mean stuck with me? You should be honored that I’m even letting you hang out with me in my precious time!"
"what? Haha~ you should be honored that a prince like me is hanging with an ugly duckling like you!"
Min Woo stuck his tongue out and started running.
"yah! Nuh ir rue ahn wha! (get over here!)"
Who would have known Ji Eun had such side of life…
Ji Eun had grown alone in an orphan, but one day ran away. She hated the stinking life. Everyday was the same all the time. 3 small meal a day, forced to take a nap during the afternoon, and at other times no one cared what you did. During the holidays, the only joyful day for the lonely children, Ji Eun was the only one who didn’t care. The rich ahjuhshi’s would come by day after day with load of boxes of ramyun. Everyone was forced to smile at the camera that was gonna be displayed in the newspapers. No.. maybe it was only Ji Eun that was forced… she knew the truth behind the events that took place during those times. It was all for their reputation, pretending to care. People might think Ji Eun was just a negative thinking girl, but wasn’t it true? Although Ji Eun was smaller than most of the girls, she was always the Jjang. She showed guts more than guys. But she never hung out with any of the kids. She knew she was different than them. She wasn’t going to rot her self in this small demolished old building. After running away from the orphanage, she roamed the streets of Seoul. For how long? She didn’t keep track. The day when Jang Woo Hyuk spotted her was the start of her new life. She kept her self isolated from the others like the orphanage. She always assured her self that this wasn’t how her life was going to end. She secretly dreamed of better life and a happy family in the future. She only waited for that new life to come. When? She didn’t know, but it was the day she met Min Woo that brought her hope that it was soon. She found happiness when with him. He made her laugh and jump for joy, but most of all he made her felt loved. It was something about him that made her think he needed love as much as she did and it was later on that she found out he didn’t have any parents like her self. They promised each other to be there for each other no matter what. Ji Eun dreamed, soon this was the only life that was gonna exist in her life.
*******
‘ Ji Eun should be ready by now’ Min Woo arrived in front of Ji Eun’s house. Today was the first day of their vacation. Min Woo had a lot of things planned out. Vacation to Jae Ju Island was one of them. Ji Eun always wanted to go there but never had enough time to. So~ Min Woo wanted to have the honor to be the first person to go to Jae Ju island with her.
*Ding~ Dong~ Ding~Dong~ Ding~Dong~*
"I’m coming! I’m coming, damn it!"
Ji Eun came out running with her hair soaked wet.
"Aren’t you ready yet? It’s 1o’clock already!"
Min Woo asked with frustration.
"yea I know! And our flight isn’t until 6!! What’s the hurry. Come on~ come in, are you going to just stand there the whole time? You know I have no problem with that!"
"ish.. @&#$%!?~&*@…-_-;" Min Woo was mumbling under his breath.
"what did you say young man?"
Min Woo forgot Ji Eun had keen sense as the bunnies.
"what~ I wuz just saying to my self how sexy you look with your hair wet like that~ ^.^"
Min Woo ran up and wrapped her body from behind.
"yea yea~ you go sit there and behave!"
Ji Eun shook him off as if she didn’t care.
"$&%@#!…"
"what?!"
"aish! NOTHING!"
40 minutes later…
"yah! Yi Ji Eun! How much longer are you gonna take!"
for the past 40 minutes Ji Eun had left Min Woo sitting in the living room with nothing to do. There was nothing to do in there. No T.V, since she watched it in her room. No books, or magazines, Ji Eun wasn’t so crazy about reading. So all there in the living was a set of sofa that she never ever sat on, a little table that had a crystal ashtray for the guests to use. And by now the ashtray was filled with buds of cigarettes.
"I’m coming out! Damn you don’t have patients!"
Ji Eun yelled out from her room.
"I don’t have patients? I wait for 40 damn long minutes doing nothing! Don’t you ever do anything in this house? It looks like you just moved in here like yesterday"
Min Woo scanned around the living room that was pretty much empty.
"If you’re complaining already I don’t know how you’re gonna deal with me through this whole two weeks"
Ji Eun walked out of her room to where Min Woo was standing. She had her long wine colored hair tided up high in a ponytail. She had her baby blue quarter sleeve shirt with white straight down jeans and timberland walkers. In her left hand she held her coat and the big luggage in her right.
"well I’m all done~"
Ji Eun opened her arms out and twirled around like a model.
"aw~ my mi oon oh ri (ugly duckling) look so cyoote today!"
"I have to look the best for my hunny~ now let me see you…"
Min Woo had put on anything he saw in his room before coming out since he didn’t expect Ji Eun to care what he was wearing. He stood still awkwardly tapping his right foot on the floor.
"See what happens when you’re 5hrs early? So~ ^.^"
Ji Eun had a weird smirk on her face. Min Woo knew this wasn’t a good sign
"I got you a set of clothes to wear today!"
As if she had planned for this whole occasion she took out some neatly folded clothes behind the sofa which she had hidden before he arrived.
"you.. got me clothes? You’re scaring me…"
Min Woo just stood there holding the clothes in his hand, staring down at it.
"oh come on~ you know I got taste! Try it on! NOW!"
"o.k..o.k.." Min Woo wasn’t sure about this whole thing.
(few minute later…)
"……-_-;; "
Min Woo walked out of the room speechless.
"Min Woo yah! You look so cyoote!!! Arg~ I just wanna bite you!"
Ji Eun pinched his both cheeks.
"Ji Eunna… I look like you…"
Min Woo had a baby blue t-shirt on with white baggy jeans. He did almost look like her except in a hip-hop version. But his gray-blond hair and the silver chain he wore around his neck made him look better.
"yea I know! I got us a couple shirt, couple jeans… and tada~ a couple walker!"
she held the timberland high up to his eye.
"you really didn’t have to do this… really.."
Min Woo took the walkers into his hands.
"you don’t like it?"
Ji Eun had a disappointing look on her face. Min Woo knew her too well to spoil her mood now.
"no~ I love it! We look so.. like.. couples~ ha..haha.."
Min Woo gave Ji Eun a peck on the lip in sign of thanks.
"Well I really didn’t know if blue was gonna match you… but baby blues my favorite… and I wanted to look the best for you today~"
"I know… come on, you already now right? We’ll go out to eat lunch, hang out for a while.. show off to the public our couple ness~ and head to the air port aiite?"
Min Woo wore his walkers and headed out first with Ji Eun’s luggage, whistling some joyful song.
Ji Eun was the last out. She locked the door and made sure it was securely locked.
***heading to the airport.
Min Woo sat in the driving seat and Ji Eun in the passenger seat. They were both wet from the rain that had started pouring about an hour ago.
"Min Woo, isn’t it raining too hard? You think it’s raining like this in Jae Ju Island too?"
Ji Eun asked while taking some tissue out to wipe her face.
"I hope not… they said it was gonna be sunny today… you can never trust the weather people…"
Min Woo shook his head side ways viciously spraying water all over Ji Eun.
"yah!!!" Ji Eun shrank back to block her self from the flying water droplets.
"what you think you are! a dog?"
"better than a duck! Haha!"
He felt Ji Eun’s stare pierce through his body but pretended he didn’t see.
Min Woo started the engine and drove toward the airport. Traffic wasn’t helping them get to the airport any faster. The rainstorm had caused accidents here and there. While driving up to the airport they were listening to ‘All For love’ locked in -repeat- so they didn’t have to be keep on pressing on the rewind button.
Inside the airport was as bad as the traffic. People were standing around with their big luggage ready to go back home cuz of the flight cancellation.
"can you check the status for flight to Jae Ju Island 6 o’clock today?"
Min Woo asked the lady sitting behind the information counter. It took a while for her to go through the computer, typing in codes that he had no idea what it stood for.
"I’m sorry sir. Flight 273 to Jae Ju Island has been cancelled due to the weather condition."
"isn’t there any other that’s going to Jae Ju Island?"
"no sir."
"damn…alright thank you"
Min Woo couldn’t blame the woman for it. He walked sheepishly toward Ji Eun not knowing how to tell Her.
"what did they say? Is it still on schedule?"
Ji Eun looked tired from all the traffic and the crowd.
"I’m sorry… the flights been cancelled.. we can’t go to Jae Ju Island today…"
Min Woo couldn’t look back at Ji Eun’s sad face.
"oh… oh no.. isn’t there any other flight?"
Min Woo shook his head no.
"then what are we supposed to do?"
"take our luggage into the car and head back home… nothings gonna change no matter how long we stand here."
"alright…" Ji Eun didn’t argue back. There was no point any ways. And she was also really tired.
While driving back to Ji Eun’s house Ji Eun fell a sleep. Min Woo turned off the music that was flowing out of the stereo and opened his ear to the soft breathing of Ji Eun’s. She really did look cute today. Although both of their white jeans had been stained with dirty rain marks…
The rain didn’t know when to stop. It had been raining this whole day and God wasn’t showing mercy.
Min Woo pulled up in front of Ji Eun’s house. He turned toward Ji Eun to wake her up but seeing her so sound asleep stopped his hand from reaching her shoulders. Min Woo didn’t realize how long he was staring into Ji Eun’s peaceful face, but realizing he really had to wake her up he leaned forward to give her a wake up kiss on her forehead.
"Ji Eunna… wake up"
Min Woo said it as quietly and softly as possible to not scare her.
"n..no… 10 more minutes…"
Ji Eun mumbled her words and turned the opposite way.
"come on. We’re in front of your house."
Min Woo tried again to wake up her tired body.
"already? Man…"
Ji Eun with her closed eyes pulled the safety belt off and managed to get out of the car. Min Woo quickly got out of the car and ran to the other side.
"go ahead and open your door I’ll head up in a second with your luggage."
"go mah wuh… (thanx)"
Ji Eun was saying that unconscious. Min Woo watched Ji Eun crawl her self up the stairs.
‘ babo.. there’s an elevator too…’
Ji Eun lived in the 5th floor. It took you quiet a while to walk up the stairs when you were fully conscious. It was definitely going to take her a while.
Min Woo decided to take the luggage up the elevator and surprise Ji Eun when she got to her front door.
Getting the big luggage out of the trunk took him a while ensuing him to get wet all over again.
When Min Woo finally got up to the 5th floor, Ji Eun still hadn’t arrived. Min Woo got worried and peaked down the stairs. He heard the little footsteps getting closer. There was also a little sound of moaning.
"ah.. f*ck… ah puh..(it hurts).."
Ji Eun was holding onto her knee while limping up the stairs.
"Ji Eunna! What happened!"
Min Woo ran up to look at the wound.
"ack! When? how? weren’t you down stairs getting my luggage?"
Ji Eun was now wide-awake, from the wound and the surprise by Min Woo.
"did you ever know that your apartment had an elevator?"
Min Woo asked with little bit of sarcasm.
"I know.. I realized when I was up to the third floor…. And then I slipped from the wet floor… and hurt my knee.. it really hurts…"
Ji Eun sat down on the stairs holding onto her folded knee.
"let me see… it doesn’t seem that bad…"
Min Woo carefully examined at as if he was a doctor.
"what? Not that bad? Do you know how much pain I am in right now? Min Wooya…"
Ji Eun put that little smirk on her face like she always did when she was about to ask for a favor.
"wh what…?" Min Woo knew she was gonna say something weird.
" ho~ hae jo.(how do you translate that?)" This time she put on a shy smile.
"ho? Haha… that’s not so hard… ho~~ *muwa*"
Min Woo gave her a finish touching of a kiss.
"now it’s not gonna hurt anymore cuz I gave you my special healing kiss"
Min Woo looked up and smiled.
"… you know there was mud all over the place I fell on to? I think I slipped from the slippery mud that was left on the stairs.."
"… ^^;; it’s o.k… anything for my hunnie… -_-"
Min Woo casually got up turning his back toward Ji Eun and secretly wiped his lips more then 10 times each second.
"oh no…"
Ji Eun was fumbling through her handbag.
"what’s wrong?"
"I can’t find my house key… I know I left it in here…"
No matter how hard Ji Eun looked the key was nowhere insight. So they ended up going back down stairs and headed to Min Woo’s house. Ji Eun was going to stay over for the night and get the spare key from the owner the next day.
"how can you lose your keys? It’s one thing you should never lose"
Min Woo was lecturing and complaining but he was secretly happy that she was going home with him. He didn’t want to walk back into the dark house all by him self.
"alright, alright! I get the point! I’m gonna leave the second I wake up tomorrow so don’t worry!"
Ji Eun was also secretly glad she lost her keys but didn’t bother to show.
"anyways… it’s only 9 right now… you wanna go home?"
Min Woo was asking Ji Eun a question but he was also concentrating his eyes on the road.
"where else can we go? There’s nothing to do now.. look how much it’s raining."
Ji Eun stared out the window into the pouring rain. Min Woo didn’t say anything for a second then opened his mouth with a bright smile.
"I know a perfect place!"
Min Woo speeded up the car toward the destination.
After about a 10-minute drive they both pulled up to a parking space. Min Woo ran out to the other side of the door and got Ji Eun out also.
"come on run!" Min Woo pulled her out in to the pouring rain.
The place he brought her to was the Nam San tower.
"what’s so special about here? Didn’t we come here before and it was hella boring?"
Ji Eun squeezed out the water from her yet long hair.
"you never came here during night time right? Come on let’s go all the way to the top. you’ll love it"
There weren’t much people in there due to the rain. Once they both got up to the tower Ji Eun finally realized why Min Woo wanted to show her to the top. Everything was so beautiful. The little lights of the Seoul streets made the whole sky glow bright. It looked as if all the stars had fallen and laid on the floor.
"aw.. it’s so pretty here…" Ji Eun couldn’t take her eyes off of the sight.
"isn’t it…" Min Woo wrapped his arms around Ji Eun.
"I always come here during late times when I have things to think about and when I feel tired. And especially when it’s raining like today I close my eyes and listen to the rain wash down on the window and pretend the rain is washing away my tired ness, trouble, and everything bad away from me.. then I really feel new and fresh."
Ji Eun closed her eyes slowly and imagined her self, her heart being washed down by the rain.
"jung mal joh ta… (it really does feel good)" Ji Eun held Min Woo’s arm tighter around her.
"since we’re here why don’t we take a picture as a souvenir?"
"1..2.3..cheese~" They both happily smiled into the camera…
When they both arrived at Min Woo’s studio, since there was only one bed Min Woo insisted that Ji Eun slept on the bed. After washing up from the rain they both were finally ready to go to bed. Min Woo left the night light on just incase Ji Eun woke up in the middle of the night to get a drink or something. Min Woo tucked Ji Eun into bed and laid him self on the floor next to the bed.
"Min Woo ya… don’t try anything funny!"
Ji Eun gave her last warning. She had been lecturing him about it the whole night.
"alright! Unless I was in a severe memory loss I don’t think I’ll ever forget what you are saying for the rest of my life. How were you ever planning to spend the time with me in one hotel room through out the whole 2 weeks!" Min Woo put the blanket over his face to show annoyance.
"chi…" Ji Eun also turned her back toward him. Before she even knew it Min Woo had already fallen deeply into sleep.
‘babo… how can he fall a sleep so fast? I guess he was tired.’
Ji Eun was tired as well but sleeping on another person’s bed was a little awkward for her. She had never had the chance to sleep over friends house or anything since she never really had a friend to do that. She buried her nose into Min Woo’s bed cover. There was the familiar smell of Min Woo all over. The night was getting deeper but she just couldn’t fall asleep. She rolled left to right, looked up at the ceiling then down at her toes. JI Eun even tried counting to thousand but everytime she got somewhere close to 300 she lost count. It has been 2 hours already. Ji Eun crawled to the edge of the bed to look down at Min Woo sleeping. Something about him… he looked really pale and was sweating. She thought maybe he was having a bad dream after the tired day. It happened to her before… but after a while he started breathing hard and whimpering. JI Eun quietly climbed down from the bed down to the floor next to Min Woo. She carefully took her palm towards Min Woo’s forehead. His head was burning like fire!
"Min Woo ya… min woo ya…"
Ji Eun shook Min Woo on the shoulder. He didn’t seem to notice.
"Min Woo ya…"
Ji Eun tried one more time.
"ugh… mm… Ji Eunni?…whe guh rae? …ugh..You need something?…"
Min Woo had waken up but the first thing he was asking was about her… Ji Eun felt a big lump rise in her throat. No matter how sick he felt she was first to him. She saw him trying to hide his pain. Trying not to worry her. She felt her tears roll down. He was the only person that ever cared so much for her. To put her before him self…
"Min Woo ya…. Sniff… you.. you have a fever…"
Ji Eun gulped down her tears and made out her words.
" Ji Eunna why you crying? Nah guen chan ah.. (I’m alright) aren’t you tired?… Go.. to sleep. Come on…"
Min Woo rose up from the floor holding on to the edge of the bed. He took Ji Eun’s hand in to his. It was shaking slightly. Ji Eun was crying out loud now. This was the first time she had ever cried out loud. She had never realized it was something that felt this good. To get everything out.
"nuh ah puh jan ah~ ung~ ung~ nuh ah puh jan ah babo ya…" Ji Eun couldn’t stop. She had been holding those tears in for the last 20 years.
Min Woo was now so startled to say anything. And all the killer pain throbbing in his head didn’t help a bit.
"Ji Eunna what’s wrong… I told you I’m alright… I just have.. to get.. some r.."
Before he can finish his sentence Min Woo lost his balance from the dizziness and crashed into the light stand.
"Min Woo ya!"
***part 9
After about an hour the fever started easing down, as well as her tears.
JI Eun tucked Min Woo in to the bed that she had been lying in a while ago, she continued to put cold towel on his head over and over. She felt Min Woo’s hand covering over hers. He must have waken up.
"Min Woo ya you feel better now?"
"eung…"
Min Woo’s voice had become deep and husky from all the pain.
"babo.. you scared me… you should have atleast fallen on to the bed…"
"chi…"
Min Woo gave a faint smile.
"chi?? Do you know how much you scared me? I thought you were gonna die or something! You had a fever of 110! Does that make you say chi! Nah nuh jung mal jook nun jool are aht suh.. ( I really thought you were gonna die)"
"guh rae suh oor ut suh?(is that why you cried?) can you imagine living in this world with out me?*cough… cough* ugh.. I hate fevers…"
The fever had alleviated close to normal temperature but his headache wasn’t budging out. Even though the headache was hurting enough to make him go crazy, he was happier that Ji Eun was here to take care of him.
"yah, stop talking to much… see what happened when you talk so nonsense? Babo babo babo! I told you we should have bought an umbrella!"
"o.k..o.k… can I just not hear you complaining just for right now? You’re giving me more headache…"
Min Woo pouted his lips.
"me? Giving YOU a headache? Aigo.. forget it.. just get some rest …"
Ji Eun took the wet towel from Min Woo’s forehead and dipped it in to the icy cold water. She squeezed the water out from the towel and placed it back neatly over his head.
The clock was now heading to 3 o’clock.
"Ji Eun ah mi yan hae… you couldn’t even sleep cuz of me…."
Min Woo gently took her hand in again.
"I know! You owe me big time mister! Your lucky I lost my keys… if not, who knows~ you could have been just lying there dying right now"
Ji Eun crossed her arm across her chest and said it proudly.
"Ji Eunna"
"eung?"
"you’re always going to be here for me right? Like right now? When ever I’m having hard time… or when ever there are happy times.. you’re gonna be here for me right?"
Min Woo looked serious, as he stared up to the ceiling.
"of..ofcourse… I’m always gonna be here for you. Even if you tell me to go away I’m gonna stick to you like a gum! Remember? I’m your one and only ugly duckling! No one else’s alright?"
Ji Eun didn’t know why he was asking all of a sudden. Min Woo turned around to face her. Ji Eun was looking directly at him as if to prove to her self, she can handle what ever he was gonna say next.
"If that’s how you really feel… then I guess it’ll be okay to ask you this right?"
"what is it?"
"let’s get married."
Min Woo stared straight into Ji Eun’s eyes.
"marry?"
Ji Eun was relieved from her fear but a new fear was over coming her body.
"yea… I know it’s kind of fast but I’m not saying right away. I’m saying later on… soon.. when I’m settled with my job… and… just.. when you’re ready.. I can wait…"
"… who said I was gonna make you wait?"
Min Woo’s eyes opened wide and so did his lips… into a big smile. He never thought she’d give in so easily. She had always told him she would get married when she got old and wrinkled and just wait for her final day to come. She said there was no need to get married so early when there were guys all over the world to enjoy with. And it would always get Min Woo mad cuz it meant she thought of him just as one of those guys. But he had also secretly not believed in her words. And now she was saying she would get married and every single moment of it shocked him and made him love her more.
"really? You.. you would?"
Min Woo had to check just one more time. He just couldn’t believe his ears.
"how many times do I have to tell you huh! Now you know why I had to tell you so many times to not do anything funny tonight? Who knows~ maybe you would have done something if you didn’t get this sick"
Even though she was being cool about the whole situation, inside, her heart was beating 2000x faster then normal.
"I love you… and I will love you more… and nothing’s gonna be able to bring us apart. Are ji?"
Ji Eun nodded her head slightly instead of answering back directly. She thought if he heard her voice he’d notice she was crying. Min Woo slowly rose up from the bed and took Ji Eun’s chin into his hands. Ji Eun tried hard to keep her head down. But Min Woo managed to bring her face up to his. He saw the tears silently streaming down her white cheeks.
" JI Eunna are you crying again?… your crying cuz you’re happy right? Don’t worry I know I can make you happy. I’m not gonna let you down."
Min Woo hugged her and rested her head on his shoulders.
‘… I know you will, I know… I just hope I’ll be able to be good to you as much as you will be to me…I don’t know.. I just feel so…’
"sh… don’t cry… when did my Ji Eun become so lady like huh~ don’t cry…"
Min Woo caressed her hair and patted her back gently.
‘ please don’t cry… I.. I don’t know how to handle it.. when you do this…I’m also happy… that I’m the one you can cry in front of… but I’m just worried… why are you really crying.. is it out of happiness… please tell me that it is so… I don’t want you to be hurt…’
He kept on telling him self that everything was gonna be o.k, but something about her tears made him fear…
"Min Woo ya…"
Ji Eun took her head off of Min Woo’s shoulder and wiped her tears quickly.
"you’re not completely recovered… come on get back into bed… I can’t sleep now.. it’s gonna be morning soon anyway… I’ll stay right here next to you so… get some more rest…"
Min Woo thought he wasn’t sick anymore. He felt like jumping up and down the bed, but that was only his mind talking. His body was aching all over and his head was still throbbing.
"Mi yan hae…"
Min Woo wanted to stay up with Ji Eun through out the rest of the night but his body wasn’t gonna let him.
"don’t say that… come on get more rest.. and if you need anything else tell me now."
Ji Eun tucked Min Woo in to bed one more time.
"Well there is two thing I need right now.."
Min Woo wore his stupid smile across his face.
"oh brother.. what is it..?"
Ji Eun knew he was gonna say something stupid or silly.
"I know what you’re thinking! It’s nothing much~ can you just give me a good night kiss and sing me a song while I fall a sleep?"
"give you a kiss? No way! You’re gonna get me sick too. But I can sing you the song ofcourse… eh ham~"
Ji Eun didn’t even look back at Min Woo and started clearing her throat. Min Woo had disappointment on his face but closed his eyes to sentiment her song. Soon he heard Ji Eun’s soft singing voice flow into the quiet room.
"... Ha nur urbo nyun na are soo it suh yo guh dae uh tuh gae ji nae shi nun ji……nae sang myung yi da ha nun nar gga ji do, na young won hee byul ur bo myu dda ra gar gguh ye yo...."
Min Woo slowly drifted in to his sleep. Ji Eun soon finished her song and stared into Min Woo’s face that had a faint smile on. JI Eun leaned forward and kissed him on his lips. She thought she was never gonna be able to cry after her second tears but she was wrong. Her hot tears were once again flowing.
‘what’s wrong with you Ji Eun! Get a grip… this isn’t like you, don’t get confused about who you are… you are not this weak…"
Ji Eun tried to stop the tears but her body had a mind of it’s own.
‘I’m sorry Min Woo… I’m so selfish… you don’t even know who I really am… you think I’m just a girl who is trying to go on with her life from the lose of her parents... but that’s true.. I have been since I was 4?..5?… and this is where I ended up. I’m one of the most feared killer in Korea…haha, but I was never happy… never happy until I met you… when I’m with you.. I forget about my other half of the life… no.. you are more then half a life to me… much more.. please forgive me for lying to you… but I’m gonna try to make up for it by making you the happiest man of this whole world…’ Ji Eun heard Min Woo’s voice inside her head.. can you imagine living in this world with out me?… ‘how can I… I’m no one with out you…’ Ji Eun told Min Woo she’d stay up the rest of the night but fell asleep laying her head on the edge of the bed. The tears were a never ending stream.
***** Morning.
*yawn~*
Min Woo stretched his arms high into the air. Thanks to Ji Eun’s care Min Woo was feeling all better. No one would have thought he suffered through out the night from a 110degree fever.
"ah~ that was a good sl.."
Min Woo paused his sentence when he saw Ji Eun sleeping with her head laid on the edge of the bed.
"aigo… why are you sleeping so uncomfortably? You could have laid next to your subangnim!(husband)~
subangnim?..subangnim…"
Min Woo liked the sound of that… subangnim… He moved carefully not to wake her up. Later he found out there was no use. Ji Eun was knocked out cold. She must have been tired from last night. He brushed her hair from her face and noticed the dried tear marks.
‘JI Eun were you crying again after I fell a sleep? Why…? Is it just me?… it’s nothing to worry about right?..hoo… it’s just me… there’s nothing wrong.’
****Part10
The 2 weeks seemed to be much shorter then it sounded. They both decided for Ji Eun to stay over at Min Woo’s during the two weeks, there was no use of going back anyways. The whole point was to spend the weeks together. They dreamed day after day that it would be perfect if their life after marriage would be like this all the time. And the y promised each other it would be. They planned a lot of events for each day. Some of the days they weren’t even able to get to half of the things they planned. But the more fun they had the faster the end came. There was only one more day left till the end of their happy 2 weeks. They both decided to spend the day at home and have a quality time together. Min Woo was in the shower freshening him self for the new day.
‘hoo.. only a day left… tomorrow I’m gonna have to go back to my hell life.. oh man.. and I almost forgot about the mission that was assigned to me by Jang Woo Hyuk. I’m gonna have to start planning out the operation… damn…’
*** Mean while…
Eric had no one to spend the vacation with. This wasn’t exactly a vacation for him. It was another way of torturing him. He sat outside the garden staring up at the sky. It was so clear and blue, the Sun was shinning brightly down on to his face. He hated the weather for it. He was feeling so bitter and gloomy and the sun seemed to be laughing down at him for being that way.
‘aish… why the hell am I just sitting here… there’s only a day more left… I’m gonna see Ji Eun tomorrow.. yup.. I’m gonna see her tomorrow~ I should clean out the car today…’
Eric walked into the house to get the car key. Ahjumma was in the kitchen cooking something that smelled good enough to make anyone hungry.
*Beebeep~*
Eric cleaned out the driver seat and the passenger seat first. There wasn’t much to clean out anyways. It was his own private car and he was the only one that really used the car. He moved to the back seats. He expected nothing to be there but he thought he’d go on with it since he started it. Unexpectedly there was a piece of white document lying on the floor. He picked it up. To his first glance of it, it was a mission document. He didn’t remember receiving such thing and read it carefully down the paper.
ASSINGED MISSION
On 2/17/99
Dae Jin Corp. supervisor (right hand man)
Lee Min Woo
Use any kind of weapon fit for situation.
Remuneration: 500man won ($5000)
It was a personal assigned mission for Ji Eun. 17th.. it was only a week away. It was also a very dangerous mission Dae Jin was the mafia that Myung Sung is supposed to strike about half a month later. He didn’t get why Jang Woo Hyuk wanted JI Eun to get rid of this Lee Min Woo guy. He had heard of him several times, but has never seen his face. To what he has heard Lee Min Woo was soon to become the boss of Dae Jin corp. people who have seen him before feared him just from the first impression of the guy. He had a cold dark eyes that’d make you freeze on the spot. Also known for his skills in shooting. Eric always wanted to have the honor to meet this guy some day, but soon he wasn’t going to be a live man on this earth. It was distressing to think about it. It was true, if all of their lives weren’t tangled up in this dirty part of the world , they might’ve been sitting around a bar table cheering for each others as friends and as companions. It was just unfortunate to be just thinking about it. But this whole mission of Ji Eun was nothing for him to concern. It was personally assigned to Ji Eun and it was business, so he had to respect the confidentiality. He just felt bad for the poor guy. He was surly to die in Ji Eun’s hands.
*** back to Ji Eun and Min Woo
They both sat down to have lunch. Today’s lunch menu was… bap, kimchi, and gim…. It was min Woo’s turn to
cook -_-;;
"yah! How come every time I cook, it seems like we’re gonna have a one year round feast and when you cook it looks like the 40’s when every body was starving and suffering from Korean war?"
Ji Eun fumbled around with every each one of her rice.
"first of all don’t play around with your food! Second! They didn’t even have kimchi during Korean war! We have to be thankful to what we have in front of us. Stop yapping and start eating."
Min Woo knew Ji Eun was right. Through out the whole week they had been taking turns cooking and Min Woo really didn’t know how to cook the only thing he really knew how to cook was ramyun. Ji Eun cooked even the rice. Ji Eun was pretty good at cooking then he thought he didn’t know where she had learned it from but it was true that she was a good cook.
"well anyways, I have something to tell you."
Ji Eun poked around the Kimchi to find the smallest piece possible.
"moe?"
Min Woo was also concentrating on eating. He really missed yesterday’s kimchi jjigae Ji Eun had made. But there was no more left of it now, besides he was the one to finish to the last drop of it.
"I don’t think I’ll be able to see you or call for about a week or so"
"why?"
Min Woo looked puzzled. There were times when both weren’t able to meet for over two, three weeks but they had never said excuses about it. They both understood that the other had things to do.
"I’m planning to apply for a job and I really need to work on this one. It’s a pretty challenging job and I really want to get it. And you know how I didn’t finish college.. so this is like a golden chance for me. You understand right?"
Ji Eun explained everything thoroughly. It was a bit not like her.
"yea sure.. it’s alright. You think a week of work is enough? It sounds pretty tough audition to me."
Min Woo looked up at her worried.
"That’s why I don’t want anyone interrupting me, and the only person that I need to worn is you. So until I contact you, don’t contact me first aiite?"
"alright"
Ji Eun was relieved he bought it. But part of her was feeling guilty for lying to him once again.
Ji Eun was gonna have to return to work the next morning. Even though she wanted to spend the last night with Min Woo, she had to go back to her own place. They were both prepared for it and had spent the night before staying up and talking. When Ji Eun came back to her own place it was cold and dark. She went up to the thermos to increase the heat. Loneliness once again surrounded her. The way it always was with out Min Woo. She was gonna have to forget about him for a while just until her last mission was done… that’s right she was going to make this the last mission. To be clearer she was going to quit this dirty job to start her new life. She thought of this last mission as thanks to Jang Woo Hyuk for taking her in when she was lost. Even though he made her the kind of person she was now, she was thankful to him for giving her so much.
One her working table there laid a red folder neatly under the rest of the paper works.
She sat down and turned on the fluorescent light and opened up the envelope. She was puzzled instantly. Out of all the papers in there the most important document was missing. The document with her main mission. Everything else babbled about their contract and all that. She searched all around the house but it was nowhere in sight. It was a dangerous information to slip out. JI Eun already knew what the mission was, she was going to take a last review of it before going into the operation, but it worried her that the information would get into the wrong hand.
‘damn… Ji Eun how can you lose the most important paper!’
Ji Eun was nowhere close to thinking about the time in Eric’s car.
**10-2
It was D-day February 17th… there were sights of man in black walking around the tall building patrolling.
The building read ‘Dae Jin Corp.’ the lights were still on in some of the rooms even though it was already past 12 midnight. Not too far next to the building was a bit smaller building then Dae Jin. One the roof was a dark black figure. It was hard to notice with a naked eye what it was Ji Eun, she stood low behind the wall. so the others wouldn’t spot her. Ji Eun assembled the parts of the revolver. The present spot was too far to see anything. She had to get in to the building some how. She shoveled through her black bag and found a voice scrambler. She wear the device around her head and wear a short wig over her head to prevent her hair from flying just incase a wind blew by. But luckily the weather was steady and cool more like spring.
JI Eun walked closer toward the building where the men were patrolling around. Ji Eun noticed everyone had a shiny round badge about the size of a nickel on their suit. Ji Eun purposely walked into one of the man.
"ouch! watch it!"
The man screamed at her while rubbing his shoulder.
"I’m sorry. Come on it’s time to switch shift"
Ji Eun’s voice was now a deep manly voice from the voice scrambler.
"ah~ it’s about time! I don’t think I’ve seen you around which section you from?"
then man was a nosey one alright.
" cough.. cough.. stop making me talk I don’t feel well. Just think your lucky to get an earlier shift."
Ji Eun tried to avoid any little mistake to divulge her real identity. The man glanced at her collar of the suit. There was the silver badge reflecting the dim streetlight. Ji Eun had snatched it from the guy while running into him purposely.
"yah what ever good luck"
Ji Eun walked past him when she saw another man walking toward them. She heard there voice from far away.
" come on~ let’s go out for a while and have a drink"
"alright! My shift just ended too! Haha"
The man Ji Eun had just been speaking to laughed out loud.
"hey, where’s your badge?"
The man looked down at his collar, no badge.
"where did it go?" He looked down at the floor. There laid a shiny silver badge. He picked it up and placed it back on to his collar.
"oh, this guy bumped into me a while ago it must have fallen." The two walked away.
‘fools…’
Ji Eun quietly made it into the building. She had been in the building before. Before things weren’t so intense between the two corporations. Ji Eun made it up to the 30th floor. The carpet on the floor made it easier for her to move around with out making loud noises. The Hall was dark. The only thing lit was the emergency lights each 5 feet apart on the wall. Down the hall there was a crack of light coming from the slightly opened door.
"oh-ho.. the hwejang’s room (the head boss’ room)… I think this is going to be easier then I thought..’
Ji Eun was sure that the supervisor would be in there with the hwejang at this time. She made her way carefully down the hall. She peaked through the crack of the door and saw two figure of man. One was sitting down facing JI Eun and the other facing the opposite toward the man sitting. The man sitting was An Seung Ho the head of Dae Jin corp. Ji Eun recognized his face from before, he was an old man now. So the man standing must have been the supervisor. They were both talking in low tone of voice about something Ji Eun couldn’t make out. Oddly the figure facing the opposite way from Ji Eun seemed familiar to her. Like she had known him from before.
‘did I see him from somewhere? Maybe he was here the time I came with Jang Woo Hyuk to meet An Seung Ho… no… I don’t remember anybody else being there with him… well at least not him.. there was somebody.. but much more taller and skinnier…’
Ji Eun couldn’t make out whom it was. She planned out a way to get away after the shooting. It would have been easier to kill both but it was Jang Woo Hyuk’s order to only kill the right hand man. It was too much easier then she thought it was going to be, like a trap, but she was also sure it wasn’t.
She locked the gunpoint at the guy facing his back, aiming for his heart. When Ji Eun was about to pull the trigger the guy Turn his body slightly and placed his hand over his pistol. He had sensed Ji Eun. She knew things were going too well.
She heard some mumbles going on between them. Probably something about, what wrong… and blah blah blah… and so on. Ji Eun had made sure the both were off the suspicion and peaked back into the room. This time Ji Eun was clearly able to make out whom the person was.
‘what… what his he doing here?’
Ji Eun was so shocked she had dropped her revolver on the carpeted floor, but unfortunately it made a loud thub. She quickly bent down to pick it up and hoped that they didn’t hear her. She was running out of luck.
"who’s out there.?"
The familiar voice called out to her.
‘ no.. this isn’t how it’s supposed to go… I gotta get out of here..’
Ji Eun started running down the long hall until the red exit sign came into view. She heard the man calling out to her and heard a few shots go off.
"stop! There’s no use of running!"
RrRRrrr~
The alarm had started going off.
"shit…"
Ji Eun ran down the stares as fast as she can. But she heard the footsteps running up the stairs. She quickly made a turn to enter the 15th floor. She heard the footsteps as well running into the 15th floor. Ji Eun took a sharp turn around the corner where there was a small window facing the back alley. Her luck stroked for the last time. The window was wide open.
‘This is the only way Ji Eun… you’ll make it… do this for Min Woo…’
the thought made her skip a beat of heart. The guy’s face that she saw on the 30th floor appeared inside her head.
That one second seemed to freeze
everything moved in slow motion…
…
…
……
‘Min Woo… what are you doing here….’
Ji Eun closed her eyes tightly and jumped down the 15th floor.
***Part11
"Down there!"
Several heads were looking out the window down to the dump. Ji Eun must have lost conscious cuz she laid still not moving.
"Don’t let her get away, as soon as you get custody of her bring her up to the boss’ room! If she get’s away, every one of you are going to be held responsible!"
Min Woo ordered furiously. There was no way people couldn’t fear Min Woo. As long as he had the blood of Dae Jin Corp flowing in his body, people were surly to fear him.
"yes sir, there is no way she can get away now"
The crowd of man in black suit ran down the stairs.
That’s right Lee Min Woo of Dae Jin Corp. was the Lee Min Woo, Ji Eun’s fiancé. He was the right hand man of the Dae Jin corp., and also the grand son of An Seung Ho. Min Woo had never liked the ideas of mafias, gangs, or anything that had to do with violence. But He has always been around it as long as his memory will allow him. But also he had grown up well under his mothers influence. Min Woo didn’t remember who his father was. He had passed away long before he can remember. His mother never talked about him. But he was sure that it had to do something with his grandfather’s business. He hated his grandfather. Min Woo’s mother would tell him that it was wrong but he couldn’t help it every time he saw the cold glare that came from An Seung Ho. An Seung Ho would often say Min Woo was too soft and had to be more aggressive to live through the world. Although An Seung Ho was the father of Min Woo’s mom she sometimes despised him for saying bad things about her son. It happened so quickly one day. Min Woo was home with his mother making lunch together. Min Woo loved his mother very much. He believed she was the only person that gave him the meaning of life.
The doorbell rang while the two boiled water to make spaghetti.
‘Who is it~…’.
Crashing of the flying opened door….
‘ where’s An Seung Ho! We know he’s in here!’ several infuriated men came running into the house.
‘An Seung Ho? My father? He’s not here! Who are you! Get out! Get out before I call the police!’
Min Woo was crying calling out to his mother. He saw her trying to push the man out the door.
‘where the fuck is he! You’re his daughter? Haha! Isn’t today a lucky day? All Dae Jin blood has to disappear! You’re all the same!’
After that Min Woo heard the loud *BANG*.
His mother was collapsing to the floor silently… everything was so slow… she turned to look toward Min Woo…
He saw what she was trying to tell him in her eyes… ‘run…. run minwoo….run for you’re life’ but Min Woo couldn’t move. He was so scared… She finally collapsed to the floor ... she had passed away… her eyes still wide opened…. he remembered someone telling him before, if someone died not able to close their eyes, it was because they held sorrow to the last moment of their life. Min Woo saw the attention turning toward him. Then he finally snapped out of his thoughts and started running. He ran through the back door out to the driveway. There were 2 to 3 man standing outside but Min Woo was able to run past them. It was good thing his mother kept him in shape by sending him to different activities. He heard several men call out to him.
‘think of today as your lucky day son! Run! Run to your grandfather and tell him that this is only the beginning! The beginning of the fight between the Myung Sung and Dae Jin!’
Min Woo kept on running, running until Dae Jin corporation building came into sight. This was one place he had never imagined about running to. He notified his grandfather, the death of his mother. He was so mad at his grandfather, it was after all his fault why his mother had to die, but something made him change his mind. Min Woo had always known grandpa as the coldest and the meanest person he had ever known but he also fell in to tears… and that was the first time Min Woo had felt him as a real person, a person who had the heart to shed tears for someone he loved. Min Woo was full of rage. From that day and on, in the age of ten, he had promised to him self and to his mother that he will have his revenge for his mother and for his family. He knew his mother wouldn’t have agreed to it if she was still alive, but she was no longer here to tell him what was wrong and what was right.
Ji Eun soon came back into conscious. She got up quickly and started running. There was already crowd of men coming from both side of the street. She realized there was no more place to run to. Now the only choice left was to make a way for her self. She took her revolver and took another pistol out from her waist and started firing. She knew it was a big risk to take in the small city of Korea to fire a gun, but it left her no choice. Since it was illegal to carry guns in Korea, only the higher position of the Dae Jin member had access of guns. There were shots exchanging from both sides, but it was no match for Ji Eun. One by one the other members fell helplessly to the ground. When Ji Eun finally saw the chance of her escape she took a run for it. The man who seemed to be the one in charge shouted out to the others to run after her. Ji Eun ran with all her might. The night was getting deeper, but the city of Seoul sky was lighting up brighter. She took a quick glance around to find a place to hide. The only thing that came into sight was the big mountain that stood on her way. She thought it would be the best to run into the woods since there were no lights to spot her. She ran higher up to the mountain.
"are you sure she went up this way?"
The neat black suit defiantly didn’t fit for mountain climbing. Their shinny black shoes were being covered with dirty mud stains.
"yea, there’s no other place than here, just keep your eyes open for any movement."
Ji Eun held her breath in and covered her mouth over with her tiny hands. Just hold on a little longer, Ji Eun thought to her self. Just alittle longer and everything’s going to be over… there were busy footsteps here and there. Every little sound of it made Ji Eun’s hair stand straight. She had never been this nervous before. If she did get caught by any chance, it wasn’t the following consequences that scared her. If she got caught she would have to face Min Woo. Everything… all the love and the little bit of trust she tried to build up with Min Woo was certain to fall apart. And the fact that Min Woo was the Dae Jin corp.’s right-hand man was hard for Ji Eun to take in her self. So this was the business Min Woo was part of… but Ji Eun didn’t resent Min Woo for not telling her. Then she would have been only selfish to want him to tell her the truth when she wasn’t completely honest either. Just when she was snapping out of her thoughts, she saw the eyes of an animal staring right back at her. "oof!" no matter how tight her hand was covering over her mouth the little noise escaped through her fingers out to the dead silent woods. To her recognition the animal looked to some extent like a raccoon. The animal got scared also from the sudden movement of Ji Eun. It jumped back and hissed, curling it’s back up. "ack!" another noise escaped her tightly covered mouth. She instantly took a step back out of shock. The only thing she didn’t know was that, that one little step was going to send her over to a deadly fall. Ji Eun felt her body swing out of balance. Her hand flew up to grab hold of the nearest branch but nothing came into grasp. She felt the sharp throb on her head as she rolled down the steep hill. The fall didn’t seem long to Ji Eun, for she had gone out of conscious short after. Her helpless body laid on the bottom of the inaccessible precipice.
"hey! Did you hear that? I heard something moving over there!"
the guy pointed to where the sound was heard from.
"aish~ it’s only a raccoon! Damn! Where could’ve this b*tch gone to?!"
the guy furiously kicked the rock that laid in front of him.
"There’s no use of looking any further… she doesn’t seemed to be anywhere around. We’ll just have to go back and report to the boss."
Everybody evacuated down the hill. Who would have thought Ji Eun was laying cataleptic down the cliff.
"what! How can you lose him!"
An Seung ho hammered his hand on the table.
The guy couldn’t bring his head up to look up at An Seung Ho’s infuriated face.
"I’m sorry sir… and it wasn’t a guy… we are pretty sure it was a woman."
He knew that was gonna get his boss more mad but it was his responsibility to inform every detail.
"a she? You couldn’t even handle a woman? This is absolutely outrageous!"
"I’m sorry sir, but she wasn’t like any other woman. She was well trained and also handled armors"
Ahn Seung Ho repeatedly tapped softly on his chin.
"is that so… how did she look like?"
"well… it was hard to tell because she had her face covered.. but she had short hair.. about 5’3..and.. that’s about all"
An Seung Ho disappointedly looked at the informant.
"alright, you may be dismissed. But.. if something like this happens ever again you will be severely penalized for it."
The guy bowed down 90 degrees and left the room.
"so Min Woo, what do you think about this?"
Seung Ho turned his attention to Min Woo who had been standing next to him quietly.
"I’m sorry hwejangnim it’s partially my fault.."
Min Woo didn’t know how to explain it to An Seung Ho.
"Min Wooya… just for when we are alone.. can’t you call me harahbuhji (grandfather)? And how is this your fault? Forget about it… it was probably just another hired to kill. It’s not something that doesn’t happen so every often."
"But hwejangnim. You have to be cautious. After what happened today anything can happen."
"again with the hyejangnim… it’s been almost 10 years since I heard you call me grandfather… it’s just one easy word. Why is it so hard for you?"
An Seung Ho couldn’t understand. But it was a different case for Min Woo, he still had part of his heart that despised him for the death of his mother.
"well if there isn’t anything else to discuss I would like to be dismissed."
Min Woo didn’t want to continue this subject that always came up between them. There was always the same ending to it.
"hm.. well one last thing, you didn’t forget about 2 weeks later right? Just wait two weeks and we’ll be able to take revenge for.. your mother… be prepared."
An Seung Ho twirled his chair back to face the wide window that showed the beautiful view of the bright skylight of Seoul.
"yes sir."
Min Woo curled his hand tightly into a fist He had been waiting for this moment for the past 11 years of his miserable life. The fire burned in his body every time he recollected back to the day.
Min Woo quietly walked out of the room. The long hall seemed darker and longer tonight.
‘I wonder what Ji Eun’s doing right now.. hoo hoo probable studying her ass off for the coming up job. It’s good thing Ji Eun’s gonna be busy. With the Myung Sung thing coming up I wouldn’t be able to meet her n.e way. Ah~ I miss you so much already Ji Eun!’
11-2
few days had passed by and Min Woo headed toward the Hyejangnim’s room. Everyone was busy preparing for the coming up event. Just when he was about to knock on the door he heard An Seung Ho coughing. Min Woo didn’t think much of it, but it started getting louder and aggressive.
"Ook!" There was a sound of chair crashing and An Seung Ho falling.
"hwejangnim!"
Min Woo ran into the room only to find An Seung Ho trampled under the heavy luxurious chair. He quickly lifted the chair off of An Seung Ho’s body and carried him to the sofa. An Seung Ho was already out of conscious.
Min Woo quickly ran to the table and pressed hard on the intercom.
"get the car ready now! Hwejangnim has collapsed!"
There was a short answer of yes sir with the loud beep.
When the car reached the hospital An Seung Ho was carried into an emergency bed. The old man laid helplessly.
Several nurses came to carry him off to the emergency room. Min Woo stopped one of the nurse. "excuse me, can you get in reach with Dr.Kim right away?"
The nurse looked down at the schedule that was neatly clipped on her note pad.
"I’m sorry but he has a meeting to attend right now."
The nurse was very polite, but it wasn’t the answer Min Woo wanted to hear.
"Tell him Lee Min Woo is here and it’s very important that he comes and sees me. Trust me he’ll come."
Min Woo urged the nurse looking back at An Seung Ho, now being entered through the heavy silver doors that labeled emergency room.
"I’ll see what I can do."
The nurse walked in a fast pace up the stairs.
‘shit… not now.. not now hyejangnim… we are so close. You were looking so forward to this day too. Don’t blow it off now.’
The nurse anxiously looked around the hospital hall to look for Dr.Kim.
Was it a good timing or was god helping? Dr. Kim was just walking out of a patient’s room.
He had a look of concern on his face. The patient must’ve not been doing well. As soon as Dr.Kim walked out of the room, a tall guy who seemed to be the family member of the patient walked up to Dr.Kim and asked for the patient’s condition. There were few mumbles going back and forth then the guy bowed to thank Dr.Kim and walked into the room.
The nurse seeing that Dr.Kim was now free walked up to him.
"Dr. Kim, there’s a person down stairs asking for you."
He was looking down at the folder that had the information of the patient he had just seen, which was labeled Yi Ji Eun…. He didn’t even bother to look up at the nurse while walking down he hall.
"I have a meeting to attend right now. Tell that person he’ll have to make an appointment."
Dr.Kim looked annoyed being disturbed while looking busily through the folder.
"I know.. but he said he had to see you right away. He told me that his name is Lee Min Woo and it’s very important that you come down now."
The nurse nervously finished her sentence.
"Min Woo? What is he doing here?"
"He came in with an emergency patient."
The nurse knew he was just talking to him self but answered back anyway.
"thank you, can you do me a favor and inform to the meeting room I can’t attend? Alright? Thanx~"
Dr.Kim gave her the famous wink of his that knocked out most of the girls that saw it.
Dr.Kim looked around to find Min Woo while walking down the stairs.
"yah! Dong Wanna! Over here!"
Min Woo waved his hand high up above everybody’s head. Just like the way he greeted Ji Eun in Dae Hak Ro.
"hey man~ what are you doing here!"
they greeted each other with their secret handshake.
"I heard you were going into a meeting right now. is it going to be okay?"
Min Woo asked Dong Wan concerned.
"haha ofcourse not! But anything for you man~"
Dong Wan threw a playful punch into Min Woo’s stomach.
"well I came here cuz hwejangnim collapsed."
"oh, that’s right I heard you came in with a patient. You mean your grandfather?"
"uh.. yea. Can you just go into the emergency room and check out what’s going on? I tried to get in but those bastards want let me in."
Min Woo scoffed looking back at the emergency room.
"yah~ now don’t beat them up after they all come out! It’s their duty to do that. It’s all for the good. Stay here. I’ll go and check it out aiite?"
Dong Wan sat Min Woo into the chair next to him and rushed toward the emergency room.
Min Woo shook his head down and grabbed a handful of hair into both hands.
Min Woo and Dong Wan had been friends since his mom was alive. Dong Wan was a smart kid. They lived in the same neighbor. After school who ever got home first would wait in front of the house for the other to arrive. Afterwards they would bring out each other’s water gun and play war. But if they were out of luck that day, they would get caught by Min Woo’s mom and get scolded at for playing with guns, although it was nothing more than a water gun. Min Woo knew why his mom acted that way, but at times he got pissed at her for ruining the fun. After the scolding Min Woo’s mom would invite both into the house and make them delicious snacks and let them watch videos as much as they wanted to. After Min Woo’s mom past away Dong Wan was a big support to his life. He was always there for him when he felt down and needed a drinking buddy. Dong Wan with his smart brain got into Seoul University with full scholarship majoring in medical. They were both like brothers.
"Min Wooya…"
Min Woo heard the soft voice of Dong Wan.
"yea, so how is he? is it really bad?"
Min Woo looked up at his friends down face.
"I think you should prepare your self.."
Dong Wan didn’t know how to continue his words.
"for what? Is it really that bad? Tell me!"
Min Woo shook Dong Wan’s body.
"Sorry man.. but I don’t think he’ll be able to recover this time. Isn’t this already the third time he’s been to the emergency room?"
Dong Wan looked into his friend’s eyes to find a way to comfort him.
"damn.. can I see him now? are you sure there isn’t any way to make him better?"
It wasn’t only about the whole Myung Sung corp. thing anymore. He was truly worried about his grandfather. He never showed it out to the world but he loved his grandfather. And also thanked him for looking after him, after the death of his mother. Although Min Woo thought he was doing a good job at hiding it, Dong Wan knew how much he cared. After all An Seung Ho was the only blood family left to him.
"go on.. you can see him now.."
An Seung Ho had been moved up to the 4th floor of the hospital where the rooms were more comfortable and private. In another word it was for people who had money. Min Woo carefully opened the door and walked into the warm, cozy room. An Seung Ho laid on the white bed staring up at the ceiling. Soon after he heard Min Woo walking in he turned his gaze toward Min Woo.
"Hwejangnim how do you feel?"
Min Woo walked next to the bed.
"ddo (again)…"
Min Woo knew exactly what he was talking about.
"you have to get better. I talked to Dong Wan he said everything was fine and you’d get better soon."
Min Woo didn’t know why but he felt he had to lie.
"no Min Woo… I already know.. you don’t have to hide it… and besides.. *cough cough* do I look fine?"
He was right. An Seung Ho looked paler and more wrinkled.. and older… was it because he was always careless to actually carefully look at him or did he age so much during the past 2hours?
"Min Woo ya..*cough* listen to me.. when I’m gone.. you’re gonna have to take over Dae Jin… *cough*"
An Seung Ho couldn’t stop his continuous cough.
"No Hwejangnim what are you saying? You’re gonna get better."
Min Woo took a closer step toward his grandfather.
"no.. I know my time’s coming soon.. I can feel it. So I want to say things to you quickly before my final breath runs out…*cough cough* uk…"
An Seung Ho cringed his face in pain. Min Woo stretched his arm forward to his grandfather but stopped him self.
‘Min Woo you stupid! Why are you isolating your self from this poor old man? He’s your grandfather… get a grip’
"Min Wooya… I know you recent me for a lot of things… the way I hated you when you were young and for the death of your mother.. I’m sure there are more.. but… I never hated you.. when I gave you the cold stares.. and scolded you to be a stronger man.. I just wanted you to be prepared for the real world… you were my only precious grandson to take on the next generation of our family…. But I never wanted you to do dirty business like me… The reason why I got so mad when I saw you was because I was mad at my self.. and was afraid you might turn out like me…cough.. and when your mother passed away… my whole world crashed too… she was so beautiful wasn’t she…"
"I’m sorry Min Woo.. I’m sorry for taking your mother away… after your mother died, I saw… I saw the lifelessness in your eyes.. the only thing that lingered in your mind was revenge… resentment… I know.. and I’m so sorry… I wanted to give you the best… really… it was only my pride… my pride that made me distant from you...cough.. I wanted to show love for you.. like all the other grandparents.. give treats… sometimes take you out to amusement parks.. but it was my pride that held me back… I’m so sorry Min Woo.. but you have to know this…cough.. I’ve always loved you and your mother… more than anything in this world…"
‘Min Woo… think about it.. isn’t it your pride that’s holding you back too? He is your grandfather for god sakes!’
Min Woo fought viciously with his conscious…
"*cough* just one.. just once.. can you call me harahbuhji?… I know I don’t deserve it… but just do it for this poor dy.."
Before he was able to finish his sentence An Seung Ho quietly closed his eyes… tears trickled down Seung Ho’s wrinkled face. This was the second time Min Woo had seen his grandfather’s tears.
"hwejangnim…"
Min Woo reached his hand out and carefully shook his body. An Seung Ho’s lifeless body didn’t seem to be thinking about opening his eyes back. Min Woo didn’t know what to do. Everything around him turned in circles. He reached for the intercom to call the nurse but something was blurring his vision. He fiercely wiped his eyes. Tears smudged around his eyes. He finally reached the intercom.
"NURSE! NURSE! GET OVER HERE NOW!"
Min Woo looked back at the lifeless body.
"harahbuhji…"
Min Woo mumbled those words under his breath… that was it.. that was his final wish before passing away. But he couldn’t even do that for the dying old man. There’s an old saying that even the dead’s get their wishes fulfilled… but he couldn’t even do that little favor for him…
"no.. NO!!! Harahbuhji! Don’t leave me! No!! I can’t let you go now! there’s so much I wanted to say! This isn’t the way you’re supposed to go! no! HARAHBUHJI!!!I know you hear me! Wake up! Look! Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted to hear? Harahbuhji!! I’ll do it! I’ll call you harahbuhji from now on~ I’m sorry I was wrong! Please~ don’t leave me!"
Min Woo shook his grandfather’s body hard. The lifeless arms swung from the side of the bed. Dong Wan came running into the room followed by other doctors and nurses. Dong Wan knew it was too late now. Other doctors and nurses rushed to the body and started for check up. Min Woo was forced to separate from his grandfather. He saw Dong Wan just standing doing nothing, frozen on the spot.
"ya! What the hell you think you’re doing! You’re a doctor! Save my harahbuhji! Save him!!"
Min Woo forced Dong Wan to be pulled closer to the already dead body. It hurt Dong Wan so much to see his friend so helpless. And also to see him self so help less. Min Woo was now throwing punches and shaking him, holding onto his white gown collar. Dong Wan took a hold of his friend and took Min Woo into him and hugged him tight so he couldn’t move any longer. And he did. He stood there in his friend’s arms tearing. Tearing for the second time for another death of his family.
"my poor harahbuhji… I was the bad grandson.. I couldn’t fulfill his little wish even till death… Dong Wan.. why am I so evil… it’s all my fault!"
Dong Wan tried hard to comfort his crushed friend. This was the second time he had to witness this kind of situation with Min Woo. And his aching heart went out to him.
***Part12
About a month and so on after the death of Ahn Seung Ho’s death.~*~*~*~*
Things were so messed up for Min Woo. Everything he had planned for his life was dissolving into the thin air. After the death of his grandfather he was having trouble putting Dae Jin under his control. There were so many more things for him to learn. Min Woo never expected his grandfather to pass away so quickly and so suddenly, he never bothered to really get into business of learning the sequel of how mafia was ruled. There were paper works he had never thought of and other stuff Ahn Seung Ho had taken care of him self. So recently he had put one of the man who worked under Ahn Seung Ho’s trust in charge. That didn’t mean Min Woo was careless about it. He just needed an extra hand to guide him through the way. Another reason that distracted Min Woo from work was Ji Eun.
"Hello?.. yea I’m on my way~ did you just wake up?.. yah uh-huh… are aht da! O.k! I’m driving right now, I’m running out of hands here. I’m pulling up to the parking space. I’ll see you up stairs."
Dong Wan threw the phone next to the passenger seat. He had pulled up to the luxurious apartment that stood only 4 floors high. He held a plant, about as half big as him. Whistling marry had a little lamb, Dong Wan walked through the sliding doors.
*Ding dong~*
After standing in front of the door for about 5 seconds Dong Wan smirked to him self.
‘Why did I bother doing that?’
He turned the knob that gradually made a half circle. He pushed himself through the door and placed the plant next to the doorway.
"yah! Lee Min Woo! Get up!"
Dong Wan made himself toward the bedroom. Min Woo was still lying in the bed faced down. Dong Wan quietly made him self toward the edge of the bed where Min Woo’s face laid.
‘how can he be sleeping when he called me 2 seconds ago?’ He placed his face few inches away from Min Woo’s.
"yah…"
Dong Wan shook Min Woo lightly on the shoulder causing Min Woo to slowly open his eyelids.
"ack~!"
Min Woo quickly jumped up from the bed to the opposite edge.
"HAAHAHAHA~!"
Dong Wan rolled on the floor laughing while holding onto his stomach.
"aish… ya it’s still morning… it’s too early to have your hideous face zoomed up to my face…"
Min Woo collapsing back into bed rubbed his eyes to adjust to the morning sunlight.
"what?! Hideous? Ha! This is the face girls kill to see next to them first thing they wake up every morning~"
Dong Wan casually slicked his hair back admiring his reflection through he mirror.
"oohwack! Yo you’re killing me… let’s eat breakfast… go on to the kitchen. I’ll be out soon."
Min Woo dragged him self into the bathroom. As soon as Dong Wan heard the shower go on, he walked out to the living room. It was still unfamiliar to him. Before He didn’t have to bother walking into the bedroom or walking out to the living room. It wasn’t necessary in Min Woo’s old studio. But now, after the death of his grandfather Min Woo was instructed to move into a better and bigger place. The apartment was well interiorized. Everything seemed perfect. The sofa was placed just in the right spot, so was the table, T.V, stereo, the pictures… There were few pictures placed on top of the table. Dong Wan picked up one of the frames. A couple smiled back. Both in baby blue shirt and white jeans. It was Min Woo and Ji Eun. They looked so happy in the picture, like they had everything in the world.
"What are you doing?"
Min Woo walked out of the room, dressed in a comfortable morning clothes. Droplets of water were still hanging from the tip of Min Woo’s hair.
"Any word from Ji Eun shi?"
Dong Wan carefully placed the picture back into place. But it wouldn’t have been Dong Wan if he missed the hardening of Min Woo’s face.
"no… nothing. It’s been a month and a half. The last time I talked to her was a week after the vacation. She got mad cuz she told me not to call her and I did…. I just don’t get it! How can she disappear like that with no call or and other contact? I’m telling you man.. Something’s wrong… there has to be something wrong. I tried sending my man out to find her. But they couldn’t even track her down."
Min Woo dropped him self to the soft leather sofa. Just thinking about it was eating Min Woo inside and out.
"hoo.. don’t worry man. You’ll find her… where can she have gone? She has to be somewhere in Korea right?"
Dong Wan patted Min Woo on the shoulder to comfort him. Min Woo had been so stressed out after the disappearance of Ji Eun. Many of the days, Min Woo called Dong Wan out to go for a drink and would silently cry to him self. Min Woo said he felt so helpless and betrayed. How can she leave him like that. And when Dong Wan brought him back to the apartment being out of conscious, under the influence of alcohol, many times Min Woo would call out to her asking to come back...
"I’m still searching for her… but it’s just taking a little longer cuz she has no family member or friends to ask around. But I’m gonna find her…"
Min Woo clutched the towel hard inside his fist.
"Ofcourse! You have to! Remember? You were supposed to introduce me to her~ that’s her in the picture right? You know…She look’s familiar… maybe I saw her before…"
Dong Wan tapped his finger on the glass of the frame.
"When? Where? Recently?"
Min Woo jumped up to his feet running up to his friend.
" Calm~ down~ I said ‘maybe’… I can’t really remember well… but you know how woman look so alike these days.."
Dong Wan felt bad looking at his friend so desperate.
"yea.. I guess so… let’s eat. Hey what’s that?"
On his way to the kitchen Min Woo saw the plant that Dong Wan had brought home.
"oh that? You know I never brought you any gift when you moved in here~"
Dong Wan brought it into the living room and placed it near the veranda.
"yea.. thanx.. You’ve visited me more than 50 times.. and you bring me this… plant thing now? you know I’m not gonna be able to take care of it well."
Min Woo ripped the little piece of leaf and flinged it onto Dong Wan’s face.
"ya, ya! Be thankful I didn’t bring you laundry detergent! And stop doing that!"
Dong Wan smacked the hand that was going back to the leaf.
"wow~ this is really good~ So where you wanna go today?"
Dong Wan slurped down at the kimchijjigae that Min Woo had made. When he looked up he was staring down at the kimchijjigae blankly.
"ya!"
"huh? Sorry did you say something?"
"what were you thinking about?"
"oh.. it’s nothing… I learned how to cook kimchijjigae so I can cook for Ji Eun.. it was her favorite.."
Min Woo stirred, mixed and played around with his soup making it cool down a bit.
"ya! Are you gonna be weeping about Ji Eun shi the whole day? Come on~ lets plan out what we’re gonna do today."
"I don’t know.. maybe not today… I don’t feel well…"
with out even touching the food Min Woo was putting his spoon and chopsticks down.
"no way~ I didn’t drive down 7 miles in my car to just have breakfast! And besides you’re the one who called me out today! I had to cancel out on all my appointments!"
It was true he had cancelled out on all his patients to meet with Min Woo. Although he was asking Min Woo where he wanted to go, he already had everything planned out for the day. Since Min Woo was so hung over Ji Eun he was gonna make today at least the day he forgot about her.
"I thought you didn’t have any appointments today~ ya! How can you do that to your patients! How would you have felt if a doctor did that to you huh! What time is the earliest! Come on~ finish your breakfast and head for work!"
oh yah.. and one more thing.. Dong Wan had lied to Min Woo he was free. He didn’t want to give him the burden.
At the end Dong wan was forced out of Min Woo’s house to work. Dong Wan knew this was gonna happen…
12-2
Since Min Woo had nothing better to do after he kicked Dong Wan out of the house he decided to take a walk out at the market. The past months were definitely hell to him. The entire encumber that was pressing down on his shoulders… Before walking out of the house Min Woo had sprayed a bit of Solo on him self. It was the cologne that Ji Eun had gotten for him. He never wore it around when he was with Ji Eun. He said it was gay for a guy to wear an orange cologne. And Ji Eun would always tell him it was her favorite fruit and fragrance. But after Ji Eun disappeared Min Woo wore it everyday he went out to the public just incase Ji Eun was around and she might notice the smell.
It was when he was passing by a tie store.
"Ooh~ this is so pretty... I think it'll look good on Eric ... how much is this?"
It was a woman’s voice… similar to the one he had been desperate to hear for the last months. He didn’t know why but he quickly hid in back of the thick cement poll. It was defiantly her… She still had her long straight wine hair… well grown out a bit on the roots… She looked more pale and skinnier than before…
‘Ji Eun.. is that really you? The girl I’ve been looking for the last months? Why do you look so weak… and pale… were you sick? Why didn’t you call me? Or visit me…? How can you disappear on me like that?’
Min Woo wanted all of those questions answered. He walked towards Ji Eun. He saw her getting out from the store. Even before he can approach a conversation she walked away like she didn’t even recognize him. Min Woo was left standing speechless.
‘what the.. why did she ignore me like that? It didn’t look like she was doing it on purpose… what’s going on?’
Min Woo didn’t know what was going on but he thought he shouldn’t approach her directly. So he decided to follow her tracks down to where ever she was going to. Every after few steps Ji Eun stood still looking around confused. What was she doing? Min Woo kept on following her until it was close to the exit. A strong wind blew through the opened window, causing Ji Eun’s long hair to fly across her face. Min Woo couldn’t take it any longer he had to talk to her.
He saw her trying to get the hair off her face. He wanted to reach out to brush the hair off him self but his body froze as he saw her face come into view.
"holy shit!"
Ji Eun was startled to see Min Woo standing in front of her close enough for his bangs to touch her face.
"what are you doing! you scared me!"
oh how much he had missed that scream…
"Ji Eun na, is it really you?"
Min Woo wanted to grab her on the spot and cover her with kisses. He felt the tears whelming up in his eyes.
"excuse me? do you know me? have you been following me?"
Ji Eun arched her eyebrows up. What was she talking about? She doesn’t know who I am?
"well I didn't know what else to do... I wasn't sure if it really was you...
but... what do you mean do I know you? it's me~ Min Woo. Your one and only Min Woo."
Min Woo reached out to grab Ji Eun's arm, but Ji Eun quickly snapped away.
"What are you talking about! I don't know you! my one and only Min Woo? I don't recall you much. Sorry I'm in a hurry so excuse me..."
what? What was going on? Was he going insane? Was he hallucinating and seeing Ji Eun when this girl really wasn’t? no.. it was definitely her… but what was she talking about?
Ji Eun was starting to walk away.
"hey! that hurt! what are you doing! let me go! let me.."
Min Woo couldn’t take it any longer. He wanted her so bad. How long has he been waiting for this day? He didn’t care if people were staring or looking at them weird. He kissed her, he kissed her like he really meant it. But short after Ji Eun shoved him way hard. Min Woo ended up falling to the floor. He was so startled from her reaction he didn’t even have the chance to resist the hard push.
"stop it! what are you doing! I'm an engaged woman do you hear! I don't know you, but if you keep on following me I'm gonna call the police!"
Had she found another guy in her life? Was it really that? So was it really true what she had been always saying to him? That she didn’t believe in real relationship? Was he really just one of the guys she played with? No… it couldn’t have been.. not Ji Eun.. not his Ji Eun. Min Woo got up again and started apologizing madly.
"I'm really sorry. I thought maybe that would get you to your senses... I really am sorry. What can I do to make you believe me? oh!"
Min Woo had thought of some thing that was convincing. He always carried the picture of him and Ji Eun that they had taken up in Nam San tower.
"oh what?"
Was it only him or did she really sound eager to find out? And that made Min Woo more eager to show her.
Even before his next words come out of his mouth, two men in black suit came running. One grabbed Min Woo from the back and the other came toward Ji Eun.
"Hey get off of me! what's the idea!"
Min Woo was trying to get free from the man. Although the man was twice his size Min Woo was very fluent with his moves. The man lost grip of Min Woo and before the man could react to the sudden movement Min Woo’s fist was half way to his stomach.
"Ack!"
the guy fell to the floor breathless. The other guy became furious with the whole occurrence and charged directly at him Before Min Woo can react his fist was already blowing across his jaw. That made Min Woo knock hard down to the floor. When he looked up he was down at Ji Eun’s feet. He quickly got up to his feet.
‘Who the hell are these guys? Her bodyguards? No.. she doesn’t seem to recognize them..’
" you fucking touch her one more time and you won't be living long enough to see your next meal!"
Those were the words the man who had punched him threw to his face. Who were they?
The guy on the floor had now recovered from Min Woo’s strong punch and was dragging Min Woo towards the exit. Min Woo was fighting him off with all his might. He took his last glance at Ji Eun before both disappeared around the corner. Min Woo wasn’t exactly forced to being dragged away. He thought Ji Eun needed a space to think… to get her mind straight. When Min Woo fell to the floor, down on Ji Eun’s feet, he thanked God for the lucky chance and quickly planted the micro detector on her shoes. No one suspected anything. He made it look like he was supporting his body to get up. Now that he was able to know where she was all the time… well as long as she was wearing that shoes… he was relived. After being dragged out of the shopping center he got away from the guys grip and ran across the high way. He would have stopped and demanded for the guys identity, but at the moment that wasn’t of any importance to him.
***** Part 13
It has been over 6 months since he had bumped into Ji Eun. He had kept track of her.. or rather her shoes, but it was either she never got out of the house or she didn’t wear that shoes really often. Min Woo couldn’t take the suspense any longer. He had to go and face Ji Eun once more. Now that his work was going smoothly under his hands he had more free time. The only problem still unsolved was Ji Eun.
Min Woo arrived in front of the grand house that took space of almost half of the block. It wasn’t the first time he had been here. Maybe the 4th? 5th? He had never bothered to keep track. The only reason was to get a glimpse of Ji Eun. But no luck all the time. This time he was ganna guard the house no matter how long it took him. The little hands of his watch raced each other through out the day…. Why did the hour hand have to be so slow… it took so long to reach each number. He imagined the hour hand as a real life person.. he was obese and held a hot dog in his hands, in the other hand the minute hand was skinny and well fit. Min Woo chuckled at him self from his preposterous thoughts.
The hour hand was now heading to 7 o’clock. He saw the bright headlight that was pulling up to the driveway. It was a black Mercedes. He saw two people walking out from the car. One of them was defiantly Ji Eun and the other was a guy.
‘ who’s that?’
He wanted to get a more careful look, but they quickly went into the house. He couldn’t turn back now.. not after how long he had waited. He had to get her attention some how. But how? While in his thoughts he saw Ji Eun running up the stairs through the long window that went down from the 2nd floor and down to the 1st. He waved his arm in a big motion to catch her attention. Shortly after he saw the guy running up after her. Min Woo quickly hid behind the electric poll.
He was hoping that guy didn’t see him too. When he turned back the guy was walking away to the hall and Ji Eun was walking down the stairs. So she had seen him…
He heard the crack of the door open. Ji Eun walked out looking around to find something, or someone. He just watched her. Her every move. Just incase she would resist him like last time… he wanted to get a good look of her.
When Ji Eun was about to go back inside Min Woo finally snapped out of his thoughts.
He walked closer to her. She must have smelled his cologne cuz she stopped shortly and turned around.
"AAHHHHH~!"
Ji Eun was pretty startled. Why? Didn’t she expect him to be there?
"shh!"
Min Woo shushed her putting his finger on his lips. She also covered her mouth.. how cute that looked to him…
"sorry. you scared me."
Ji Eun uncovered her mouth.
"how did you find my house?"
"That’s nothing…hey..."
For some reason her voice sounded softer and nicer.
"what?"
"you’re not running away from me."
"uh.. yea.. I want to know... what you know..."
Ji Eun couldn't see his face because of the shade from the cap..
"Thanks."
Min Woo put his arms on her shoulder. He felt her shutter a bit, but he thought it was maybe because of the chilly weather.
"for what..?"
"for opening your heart to me again... I knew you would."
Now they were both in a café, drinking tea.
Min Woo finally took his cap off. There was no one to see him in the cozy café corner.
I couldn't find you anywhere. no one knew where you...." Min Woo was stopped by Ji Eun’s voice. She looked so confused.
"hold your horses stranger~ look. I want to know stuff... but one at a time... what are you talking about?
I have a fiancé already... the house you found me was 'our' house. We live together."
Min Woo was confused him self. What was she talking about? Doesn’t she remember me? why is she looking at me like she doesn’t even know me?
"What’s your name anyway?"
Min Woo couldn’t believe his ears. Why was she asking? It’s Min Woo! She knows it!
He didn’t mean to, but a smile came across his face. He remembered how gong ju byung she used to be… She looked confused so he told her what he was thinking and she seemed to be offended. She said he was someone she hardly remembered… it made Min Woo’s heart ache like crazy but he told him self it was o.k… it was just an memory lose. He also explained it briefly so she wouldn’t miss understand him.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.."
Min Woo brushed his face down with both hands.
"it's o.k~ you didn't even know."
She didn’t seem to quite understand what he was saying.
"no.. I knew something was wrong... you were acting weird... you seemed disturbed all the time...you didn't want to talk to me or meet me... I knew something was wrong... "
Min Woo had a blank expression on his face.
"that's because I didn't remember you."
Ji Eun’s expression turned softer than before. But it had a mix of pity expression…
‘Ji Eun.. you don’t understand…’
"no... I'm talking about before you lost your memory...but being the stupid me I was too busy with my own life "
"then.. you really did know me? you really did?"
"I told you! how many times do I have to tell you? I can prove it!"
"......"
She looked so confused… more than him. Now that he knew why she was acting that way he wanted to show her the truth too. He saw her closing her eyes and grabbing onto the edge of the table from faintness.
"Ji Eun na are you o.k?"
Min Woo gave her a hand when she looked like she was going to fall off her seat.
But she pushed his hand away from her.
"I'm alright... just.. alittle dizzy I guess.."
Min Woo took out a little picture out of his pocket. She didn’t notice the picture at all. She was looking at the picture… so confused… she asked who the girl was. He explained to her about the picture. About the flight to Jae Ju island.. about the Nam San tower.. the way he got sick.. the song she sang to him…
"... Ha nur urbo nyun na are soo it suh yo guh dae uh tuh gae ji nae shi nun ji............. Forever love...forever with you..."
"nae sang myung yi da ha nun nar gga ji do, na young won hee byul ur bo myu dda ra gar gguh ye yo...."
Ji Eun mumbled with him in a soft singing voice.
"you remember don't you! Ji Eun you have to remember!"
She stopped mumbling and stared at him for a moment. Her confused expression turned into fear.
"I uh...
She was talking about his pistol, the one he had lost during their first meeting.
"you.. have it?"
"yea.. you dropped it when you fell in front of me…"
"do you have it now?"
"no… I came out right away when I spotted you and forgot to bring it out...but why would you have something like that?"
Ji Eun slowly lifted her head to meet Min Woo’s gaze.
"I um.. well.."
Min Woo wasn’t able to make out his words. He didn’t know how to explain it to her or make out a lie.
"no.
He was in a way happy that she was looking forward to meeting him again.
"hm.." Min Woo suddenly smirked.
"you are the same Ji Eun that I knew. You were always brave… which other woman would face up to a guy that she had found who had possession of guns…" Min Woo quietly said to him self. She had always been brave outside.. but he knew she was sensitive and fragile inside. He knew… after the tears that she had shed in front of him 6 months ago.
****part 14
The Next day~*~*~*~*
Min Woo had walked all the way home from the café yesterday. But that didn’t trouble him to wake up the next morning.
"Ah~!"
Min Woo stretched him self in the bed. The ray of sun was peeping through the closed curtain. He walked up to the double window and opened up the curtain. With a little click he opened up the window also. It was a light and fresh morning he hasn’t greeted in a long time. He grabbed the robe that was neatly place on top of the chair and slid his arms through both sleeves. He sat in front of the computer. This was a daily routine for Min Woo. Every morning he would get up and see how Ji Eun was doing. Actually if Ji Eun was safe home. The red dot was blinking steady on top of the map print.
‘that’s weird.. she’s not home… and it’s pretty far from her house too… did she drive down over the night? With that guy?’
It was possible. The smile disappeared from Min Woo’s face thinking about it. But what was this feeling of uneasiness?
"Don’t be greedy Min Woo~ you’ll get her back little by little!"
Min Woo had always thought greed drew you away from your aspiration, you had to take things slowly… slowly… like the way he was waiting for his mother revenge.
It was like all the other morning. He got up from the computer, walked into the bathroom, awhile later come out, open the closet, pick out today’s suit, and breakfast. He never said anything while doing all that. He had no one to. But this morning he was busy thinking in his head. Why did he feel so uneasy? He knew it was nothing but just to assure him self he decided to head to where Ji Eun was.
It wasn’t a busy street or a bit crowded. He glanced down at the lab top facing him that was placed carefully on the passenger. The red dot was a block ahead of him. That was weird… a block ahead of him was nothing but a construction site. He slowly drove down the street to the next block. There was a familiar girl walking, facing down to the street. It was Ji Eun. But what was she doing here all by her self? She looked so tired and cold. She didn’t even have her jacket with her only a short sleeve shirt. Min Woo quickly pulled up to the side of the curve and ran out to meet with Ji Eun.
"Ji Eunna!"
‘!.. is that Eric? How did he find me?’
Ji Eun didn’t know what, to run or give into him. When she finally decided and turned around another familiar face came into view. It was Min Woo.
‘what is he doing here? How did he find me?’
"Min Wooshi?"
Min Woo catched up but kept his distance from Ji Eun. He didn’t want to scare her.
"Ji Eunna what are you doing here? Are you alone?"
Min Woo looked around to see if anyone was with her.
"um.. I.. you see…"
Ji Eun didn’t know how she was supposed to put it. She didn’t want to tell him about what happened yesterday night.
But she was sure glad to see him.
"So you’re all by your self? Aren’t you cold? We shouldn’t be standing out here. You know how cold morning air can be? Come on let’s go into the car."
Ji Eun hesitated for a moment but ended up inside the car. Min Woo turned up the heat to maximum and looked up at Ji Eun.
"Is it something you can’t tell me? what are you doing here all by your self?"
Ji Eun didn’t know how to tell him. She just looked down at her feet with out saying anything.
"alright.. if you don’t want to tell me then I won’t force you to… do you have a place to go to?" Ji Eun shook her head no.
"then how about heading to my house? You want to do that?"
Ji Eun looked up at Min Woo’s face for the first time since they got into the car. He looked so sincere, the care that he showed her told her to trust him.
"I don’t know why… but I think I have to trust you."
Min Woo took that as a yes. There were so many things he wanted to ask but one word stopped him from asking. Trust.
They drove up to Min Woo’s apartment.
"you live here?"
Ji Eun looked up at the 4-floor apartment. It wasn’t as great as Eric’s but for an apartment it looked pretty big and luxurious.
"yea, come on lets get you into the house."
They walked into Min Woo’s place. It was neatly cleaned like always. Ji Eun Quietly walked into the living room. She noticed the veranda that had the curtains wide open to the side. She slowly walked towards the big sliding windows.
There was a view of other apartments and the little houses of Seoul. It wasn’t as pretty as looking out to the garden From Eric’s house, but she bet it’d look pretty during nighttime.
"oh yea… Min Woo shi"
Ji Eun turned to face him.
"this…"
She handed him the pistol she had kept on her waist.
Cougar8000. It imprinted 0728ML.
"Oh! That’s.."
Min Woo quickly took the pistol from her hands. He felt her body heat. It was so warm. He didn’t know what to say next.
"Min Woo shi, it’s o.k. I won’t ask. Remember? I’m gonna trust you."
Weeks went by quickly.
At the beginning it was a little uncomfortable for Ji Eun to stay in the same apartment, but she got used to it day after day. Nighttime was the worst for her. He had gotten her a separate room, but most of the nights she woke up screaming from nightmares. It seemed as if Min Woo was guarding her from out the door. He always came running, asking if she was okay. Then he took her to his room and watched her fall asleep in his bed. It was so comfortable laying there. It took no time for her to fall a sleep. The only thing that bothered her was the picture that laid on top of the table out in the living room. It was the same picture that he carried around in his wallet. But in the other hand it comforted her by telling her he wasn’t a stranger in her lost life.
"Min Wooshi!!!!"
It was another nightmare. Why weren’t they leaving her alone?
The door opened shortly after followed by Min Woo.
"Ji Eunna you o.k? another nightmare? Come on~ it’s o.k.. let’s get you into my room o.k?"
Ji Eun was sobbing she couldn’t even answer him back.
The bed was still warm from Min Woo’s body heat.
"sniff.. Min Woo shi miyan… I don’t know how long I’m gonna be hung over these nightmares… it didn’t happen this often before…"
Min Woo tucked the sheet over her neck.
"sh.. it’s o.k just go back to sleep. I’m gonna be right here o.k?"
Min Woo took him self to the small sofa next to the bed. He watched her close her eyes and get comfortable. Her sobbing was easing down. Every other night he stayed up and watched Ji Eun till the morning but tonight he was tired too. He had worked late doing paper work.
Few hours had passed since he drifted into sleep. Min Woo woke up from the cold air. He turned to look where Ji Eun should have been laying down, but there was only the messed up sheets wrinkled on top of the bed. No Ji Eun. Min Woo jumped up to his feet and looked around the room to find Ji Eun. He thought maybe she went out to get a drink or something and went out to the living room. Even before entering the Kitchen he saw there was no light coming from it. Then he felt another cold gust of wind. The veranda curtain was flying briskly.
‘is that Ji Eun? What is she doing out there?’
As he got closer the wind wasn’t as cold as the air felt. It was actually cool. He saw Ji Eun leaning on to the banister.
She was looking high into the sky. It was still dark and the stars were shining.
"Ji Eunna what are you doing out here?"
Min Woo carefully made him self out to the veranda next to Ji Eun.
"There was a place just like this where I used to stay… when I looked outside I was able to see the pretty garden. With all the flower that ahjumma had taken care of… I used to sit there and read books eating oranges… That was my whole day. I sat and stared out the window… I would listen to music.. read books… well if I really got bored I went down to keep ahjumma company."
Ji Eun made it sound like the good ol’days.
"do you.. miss that guy?…"
this was the first time Min Woo had ever brought up the subject since her first arrival.
Ji Eun knew this question was gonna pop up soon or later.
"ofcourse…"
Min Woo fell his heart fall into slump.
"He was a good friend… he took care of me… a good friend."
Ji Eun knew it was gonna hurt Min Woo’s feeling if she didn’t put it that way.
"good friend huh…"
Min Woo stared up at the stars with Ji Eun.
"he was a good person… He was nice just like you.. Really enigmatic like you… now that I think about it you guys have a lot in common.. although for some reason you make me feel more comfortable…Min Woo shi.."
"don’t call me that…"
Min Woo looked hurt.
"call you what?" Ji Eun didn’t know why he was saying that. What else was she supposed to call him?
"you never called me Min Woo shi… it was always ‘Min Wooya or Min Woo’ I tried. I tried to get used to the word ‘shi’ but it’s just not the way it’s supposed to sound.. you understand don’t you?"
"yea… why not? If that’s the way you like it."
"no. cuz that’s the way it’s supposed to be."
Min Woo corrected her right away.
"Min Woo..ya… what do you think when you are looking up at the stars?"
He looked up at the stars one more time.
"what do I think?… I don’t know.. it’s pretty…."
Min Woo didn’t know what else.
"isn’t it? It’s so pretty… you know why?… it’s because of love… I read it in a book once. They said, When a person loses their love they look up at the stars. They promise them selves to become the beautiful star that everyone looks up to… But later when they really do become the star, they have to tear once more because they have to look over at their love all the time. And that’s why the star twinkles…"
"Wow I never knew they had such deep meaning to it…"
"I used to love looking up at the stars… I thought they were the most beautiful things.. but after what I read, the next time I looked up at it, it made me so sad… imagine how much they would have resented me smiling up at them while they were tearing for their love…"
She looked as if she was going to cry. Since the day he brought her to his house, Ji Eun startled Min Woo many times. He saw the side of her he had never seen from before. And especially tears. She shed so many tears by now it could have filled up 2 gallons of water bottle.
"Ji Eunna it’s getting cold. Let’s go inside. Tomorrow’s a special day~ I’m gonna take you around for a drive and shopping, so you have to get a good sleep."
"Ji Eunna! Get up! Do you know what time it is!!"
The bright sun light blinded Ji Eun. Min Woo had opened up the curtains and had the music on really loud.
"I’m up~ you can ask nicely not torture me like this…"
Ji Eun made her self to her bathroom. Still half sleeping she turned on the cool shower to refresh her self-up.
When Ji Eun walked out of the bathroom her nose filled with the aroma of kimchijjigae.
"Kimchijjigae?!~ wow~ Min Woo, you know how to cook kimchijjigae?"
Ji Eun dropped her self to the chair and stared into the steaming pot.
"I learned how to make it specially for you… that’s the only thing I know how to cook. It’s your favorite."
Min Woo sat him self across from Ji Eun. She was staring at Min Woo blankly.
‘He knows too… Eric did too… I still don’t get it. I try to figure it out everyday.. but I just don’t get it…’
"what? Is something on my face?"
Min Woo was waving his hand across Ji Eun’s face.
"it’s just that.. Eric knew too… and you know too.. "
Eric.. the name sounded familiar to Min Woo.
"This Eric guy.. what does he do?"
"Eric?… I’m not really sure.. some secret agent thing"
"A secret agent?"
For some reason the word amused him.
"I don’t know.. he never really told me what he exactly does…"
Ji Eun picked up her spoon. She was taking it to the kinchijjigae.
"you don’t know? And you trusted the guy? How credulous can you be?"
Ji Eun took a sip of the jjigae.
"mm~ this is so good! Come on Min Woo you eat too!"
Ji Eun was going to accuse him back about him never telling her what he does, but he must have realized it too since he changed the subject and concentrated on eating.
***Part15
Mean while Eric was getting into his Mercedes. This was the second time Ji Eun had disappeared on him and the second time he had to search for her. Just incase, he visited the same hospital, but there was no sign of Ji Eun.
‘Ji Eun.. come on… how did you get away so fast? Where are you right now? where can you have gone? You didn’t even have any money with you."
He was positive Woo Hyuk didn’t have her yet. Or else there would have been a call made by now.
As days passed Eric became desperate like a mad man yearning for water in the desert.
Search after search was failure after failure. He couldn’t even go back home cuz of the people that were guarding it. He started to see everything as his fault. He regretted lying to Ji Eun, looking for her desperately, but most important loving her… He believed she deserved more than this. But he thought it was inequitable that the only love he ever had, had to be this way. He never loved anyone like the way he loved Ji Eun. He lived half of his life just because of Ji Eun. She gave him the courage and the strength. Although she never bothered to say anything warm to him, he knew she cared. Though she was the coldest person on the outside, he saw inside her the sincere ness and the care for others. She just never had the chance to express it out. He was gonna find her. He knew he couldn’t tell the whole truth but he wanted to believed she deserved to know and this time when he found her, he was gonna ask her to marry him.
******
"Min Woo, what are we gonna do today?"
They were now both sitting in the living room of the apartment.
"Well.. What do you want to do? Since I’m not going to work today I can take you to where ever."
Min Woo patted his full stomach and looked up at Ji Eun.
"Really?? Cool~ then can you um…"
She was excited at first, but now she was struggling with her words.
"what is it?"
"um… can you take me around where I lived? I mean if it’s o.k with you."
"why wouldn’t it be o.k? I don’t know if they’ll still have the room with your stuff.. it’s been quite a while and they might have gotten a new person living there"
"it’s alright I just want to see where I used to live. And maybe something’ll come back to me."
Min Woo drove up to the narrow street of the apartments. It was a 7-floor apartment. The apartment fit for an average salary person. They took the elevator up to the 5th floor where Ji Eun used to live.
"I don’t think you’ll be able to go in anyways… you don’t even have the keys."
Ji Eun thought she had to try anyways. They walked down the hall and made a turn to another.
There was a mid aged woman walking up the hall and looked a little shocked. They both didn’t think much of it and was about to pass by.
"Aren’t you Ji Eun?"
The woman looked carefully into Ji Eun’s face.
"you are! Ji Eunna!"
"um.. do you know me?"
Ji Eun looked surprisingly at Min Woo’s face and back to the woman’s.
"of course I know you! It has been pretty long eh~ but how can you not remember who I am? You’re Min Wooshi right? Yes.. I’ve seen you with her several times. I’m the owner of your apartment!"
She seemed very contented to see both of them again.
"really? Then do you have the key’s to my house?"
Ji Eun couldn’t believe the luck she was having.
"Of course I do. I got it right here in my pocket. I had a weird dream yesterday night and I thought what the heck and made a stop by before going out to work."
She handed her the keys and told her little psychic story.
"ahjumma why didn’t you get someone else in there? It’s been a quite a while hasn’t it?"
Min Woo asked her curiously.
"well I was but a man stopped by here few months ago and told me to keep the house as it is because Ji Eun would comeback anytime. And the payment came in every month, not even a day late. So I thought it was Ji Eun. Wasn’t it?"
Now the Woman looked confused as well.
" well thank you any ways."
"it’s good to see you again. And it’s good to see you kids together. You know how young people these days break up and find another person in few days. They think these stuff are jokes or something"
The woman was mumbling her way up the hallway down the stairs.
"arg~ I’m so excited! Come on lets go!"
Ji Eun was full of excitement alright.
"who do you think paid for the rents? You had other friends?"
Min Woo was asking as they walked up to the big blue door.
"why? you think I had no friends? Huh? Is that it?"
Ji Eun couldn’t remember if she did or not, but it still got her a little mad.
"no~no I’m not saying that.. ah~ whatever let’s just go in."
They both walked into the house. It was clean and neat as if someone had been always living there.
"yup.. this is definitely your house… there’s still nothing in the living room.."
Min Woo examined the living room up and down.
"where’s my room?"
Min Woo pointed to the first door from the entrance.
"I want to look around alittle.. so make your self at home aiite?.. cuz that’s what I’m trying to do my self."
Ji Eun walked into her room. There was more stuff in there than the living room. Everything was neatly in place. She walked up to the desk and saw stacks of paper work.
‘hm.. maybe I was a student…. I got hellaba stuff here…’
The red folder on the desk caught her eyes. She took it into her hands and opened it up.
There was a long paper with writings as small as the ants. It was some sort of a contract.
‘what’s this?…’
there was nothing else in it. Only a long contract. Bottom of it was two signatures. Under the name Jang Woo Hyuk and Yi Ji Eun.
‘who’s Jang Woo Hyuk?’
When she was about to put the paper back to where it was she felt dizzy and nauseous. When she closed her eyes to regain her strength she had a little film of flash back….
"I have a special project for you… This is a contract I’m making with you. Not as a boss and employee, as a client and a killer. I’m offering you a sufficient reward for it. So do you think you can do it?"
"Why are you asking me and not Eric? He should be better at it since he’s a guy."
"no. You are much further more experienced in killing then him. Besides you are much more faster in motion and distant shooting… weren’t you a sniper before I took you in? I know you can do better"
"……"
"why? You don’t think you can do it?"
"No sir. Did I ever disappoint you? I’ll do it."
"that’s my Ji Eun. Here’s the folder with all the information you need. And also, I would like it if Eric didn’t know about this. I don’t want to make things complicating."
"Have a good day sir."
Ji Eun opened her eyes back. Everything was focused.
‘what was that? Who was I talking to? That Jang Woo Hyuk guy?… why did Eric’s name come up?’
Ji Eun continually fumbled through her desk. She didn’t know what she was looking for but she had to find something. There was a lot of paper that read:
ASSINGED MISSION
On XXXX
Person’s profession
The person’s name
What kind of weapon to use
Remuneration: XXXX
‘Damn… these are some weird papers… it looks so professional. Why did I need these kinds of stuff?’
Ji Eun stuffed some of the papers in her bag and went out to the living room to see what Min Woo was doing.
"Min Wooya~ what you doing?"
He was sitting on the sofa staring out the window.
"oh nothing… so did you find anything?"
"oh… nothing really.. um.. did I attend any sort of school before?"
JI Eun felt she had to know. The papers were giving her the creeps.
"school? No. you worked somewhere… I think you told me once.. but I forgot.. hehe sowee!"
‘work? What kind of work did I do? should I show him the papers? Nah…’
"Ji Eun what are you thinking about?"
Min Woo got up from the sofa and walked toward the room.
"where are you going?"
Ji Eun grabbed on the Min Woo’s shirt. What was she doing? Ji Eun quickly let go of his shirt.
"what’s wrong? I just wanted to see your room. Why do you look so nervous? You o.k?"
Min Woo came closer to look as Ji Eun carefully.
"I’m alright. Can we go now? I think coming here was too fast for me… you understand right?"
"yah sure. Come on let’s get you out of here."
Ji Eun walked down the hall and took her last glance at the blue door of her apartment.
"Ji Eunna what are you thinking about?"
Ji Eun hasn’t said anything since coming out of the apartment.
"…"
"Ji Eun~!"
"huh? Oh.. I was just thinking… about stuff…"
Min Woo didn’t want to force it out of her if she didn’t want to tell him. He wanted everything to go naturally. If she wanted to tell him she can and if she didn’t he was willing to wait.

Ring~ Ring~
"yuh bo sae yo?" A woman’s voice flew through the phone.
"Anyunghasaeyo… I called cuz of the rent for Yi Ji Eun’s apartment. I think it’ll be a little late this month. I’m sorry. I’ll try to get it to you as soon as I can."
The voice belonged to Eric. He was the one who had kept the house for Ji Eun. He always thought there was a maybe, and kept the house.
"eh~ you don’t have to worry. Oh and Ji Eun stopped by a few days a go so don’t worry about it.", the woman said on the other line.
"excuse me? what did you say?"
Eric couldn’t believe his ears. How can Ji Eun have visited the apartment when she couldn’t even remember her birthday? He wanted to make sure the ahjumma wasn’t mistaking Ji Eun for another girl.
"Ji Eun stopped by her house few days ago but I don’t think she’s really back. She must be living with her boyfriend or something cuz I saw him with her."
"whom are you talking about? How do you know he was her boyfriend?"
Eric was stirred in confusion.
"oh, I knew both from quite a while ago… I saw him several times before. I never thought they’d still be together..."
Ahjumma was about to rattle on about the young people these days when Eric interrupted her.
"A while a go? You mean before she moved out? Do you by any chance know his name?"
"oh yes~ it’s been quite a while since they have been seeing each other. Way before she moved out. His name is Lee Min Woo, a polite young man. He knows how to treat the elders."
‘Lee Min Woo? I know I heard that name somewhere… where did I hear it?……! it couldn’t be…’
"Hello?"
Eric had forgotten he was on the phone. He said his thank yous and goodbyes and hung up the phone.
Eric was still dazed in his thoughts after hanging up the phone.
‘Min Woo? Can it be him? Why would she be with him? Unless…’
Eric took his cell out of his coat pocket.
With out even realizing his finger was trembling as he pressed each number in.
"yes? Andy speaking."
"It’s me Eric Moon. Don’t say anything just listen."
Eric knew there’d be other people around and if Andy said anything to hint the guys he was talking to Eric they’d all go crazy to search for him.
"where are you? Myung Sung’s going crazy to find you."
Andy whispered into the phone. He was walking away from the crowd for all the noise became further.
"Well just listen. I need for you to do me a favor. You know Lee Min Woo form Dae Jin corp.? find out where he lives and… no for the better just find out all the information about him."
"that’s not hard… but why? And where are you? Are you with that girl Ji Eun or something? She’s another issue here."
Andy was surly a curious man. Although Eric trusted him to help him through, he couldn’t let anything slip out of hand.
"don’t ask too many questions. When you get all the information just call me to 210-598-5676. Da um ye man na myun nae ga soor sa ji (I’ll buy you drink the next time we meet)"
"I’ll remember that! I’ll give you a call as fast as I find out. Take care until then."
"you too."
Eric felt eerie after the phone conversation. He had never talked to anyone that way before. For a normal people they would wonder what was so special about it, but for a person like Eric who never had any relationship closer than business, the friendly conversation on the phone with Andy was enough to make him feel the bit of friendship.
******
"ya! It’s me Min Woo. Why don’t you come by my house tonight?"
Min Woo placed the phone between his shoulder and his ears.
"why? So you can kick me back out after dinner?"
Dong Won hasn’t forgotten about the incident few months ago.
"Ha ha~ don’t worry I won’t, I’ll give you a cup of coffee after this time. The thing is you still didn’t get to meet Ji Eun after she came back. And I wanted to introduce you guys. So just come by alright? Nah ba bbu! I’m hanging up now! bye!"
click.
‘what was that about? Shish…’
Dong Wan hung up the phone and got more excited as time came closer.
‘Dong Wan why are you getting excited when you’re only meeting ganna Min Woo’s girl friend?’
Dong Wan stopped by a fruit store to buy a basket of fruit. After hearing orange was her favorite, He decided to buy all kind of oranges and have it rapped in the basket.
Ding dong~!*
A pretty woman about his age opened the door. She must be Ji Eun.
"uh suh oh sae…"
They were both shocked to see each other.
"Dr.Kim…how’d you.."
"Ms.Yi…"
This was the first time bumping into each other since her dismissal from the hospital.
"so how are things going with you? I knew you looked familiar in the picture…"
Dong Wan and Ji Eun sat in the living room. Min Woo was running a bit later than expected.
"better…"
why was it so awkward?
"weren’t you with that guy.. what’s his name? Eric?"
"um.. yea… well I don’t really know… can you just… can you.."
Ji Eun was having trouble saying her words.
"what? Tell me."
"can you just pretend we never met before when Min Woo arrives? I don’t want him to know… he probably knows something’s still not right.. but I want to wait until the right time…"
Ji Eun stared down at her feet.
"hoo… alright.. if that’s the way you want it.. any sign of memories coming back?"
"nope…"
Ji Eun didn’t want to tell him about the flash back she had few days ago, it was obvious he was gonna ask her what it was about.
Min Woo arrived short after and bragged about how pretty and smart Ji Eun was. Dong Wan was a good actor as good a doctor he was. The night passed by pleasantly and it was now time for Dong Wan to leave.
"Ji Eunshi it was nice meeting you. You are just the way Min Woo bragged about everyday. Well Min Woo I’ll call you soon aiite take care."
Dong Wan walked out to the hall and down to the elevator.
"alright give me a call! Jo shim he ga rah!"
Min Woo closed the door behind and snuggled into Ji Eun.
"isn’t he such a great friend?"
"yea… he is"
Dong Wan was driving down the high way while deep in his thoughts. Who was this Eric guy that took her with him in the hospital? He didn’t seem like a stranger to her or meant any harm… he had to find out who this guy was. And there was one person who he was able to call for those kind of info. He couldn’t wait one more second. Dong Wan opened up his cell and dialed in the number.
"ya hye sung yi nya? It’s me Dong wan. Do me a favor can you find out who Eric Mun is?"
-Eric Mun?
Hye sung repeated in the other line.
"yea Eric Mun. I need to find out as fast as I can. So.. just give me a call back as soon as you find out"
-no need… if we’re talking about the same person you’re asking about Eric Mun in Myung Sung corp. aren’t you?
Myung Sung? Myung Sung was Min Woo’s worst enemy of all.
"are you sure? He’s a little taller than us… kind of dark skin maybe… always serious looking?"
-yup we’re talking about the same person.
Dong Wan was getting confused all of a sudden. He didn’t expected it to be this bad.
"Hye Sung ah this is concerning Min Woo… can you keep an eye on Eric Mun? just for a while?"
-can’t do~
"why not?"
-I heard he disappeared quite a while ago. Blinded by some chick~ hehe
"you have to find him. I’ll tell you the details when we have the chance.. but it’s really important. The chicks Min Woo’s fiancé."
-what??? What are you talking about man?
Hye Sung’s voice got twice as louder than usual
"yah! Why are you yelling into the phone!!!! She’s with Min Woo right now… but I have to find out more about Eric Mun. why he was with Min Woo’s fiancé. Alright? You’re gonna do this for me?"
-hey~ who am I huh~ no problem. I’ll keep track.
"alright, I’ll talk to you soon."
Both ends hung up at the same time. Dong Wan knew it wasn’t his business. But He wanted to do this for his friend.
Hye Sung was another member of their gang. Hye Sung had shown up later than Dong Won, but all three were equally close to each other. They promised they would do anything for one another.
"why are all my friends like this? One’s a boss of one of the biggest mafia in Korea… and one of them’s an assassin… I told them.. I told them to study while they had the chance…"
Dong Wan mumbled to him self.
********
Few days had passed since the day he found out Ji Eun was with a guy named Min Woo. And few hours ago Eric received a call from Andy with the information of Lee Min Woo.
Seoul bangbae dong. JinJu 4dong 2nd Fl.
Phone # 019-375-0719.
Currently the president of Dae Jin Corp.
Eric quickly dialed the number to Min Woo.
********
"Yes, I will look through it and give an answer to it as soon as I finished."
Min Woo neatly stacked the paper in his two hands. Things were getting busier in business. Myung Sung was slowly taking its move and Dae Jin had to be prepared to fight back. Now that he was slowly getting things organized he was in the office more often taking back the place that really belonged to him. He still needed the mans help now and then, but not as often as before.
*Ring~ Ring~*
"Excuse me."
Min Woo took the phone into his hands.
"I will be inside my office waiting for the next order Sir."
The man bowed down politely and took him self out the door.
Min Woo cleared his throat before answering the phone.
"Yes, Lee Min Woo speaking."
"Ahn nyoung ha shim ni gga… this is Eric Mun…."
****Part 17
A soft music was playing through the café speaker. Eric sat in the back corner table darker than any other place. He took a long drag of his cigarette and killed it on the ashtray when he saw Min Woo walking in. Min Woo looked around the café to find the unfamiliar face. A nice looking woman came up asking if he needed to be seated. He waved his hand out of refusal and asked if there was a man waiting for company. Eric had already notified the woman for he knew Min Woo wouldn’t recognize him. Eric watched every move of Min Woo while talking to the woman and walking up to his table.
"Eric Mun?"
Min Woo asked to make sure before seating him self.
"yes, have a seat."
They both knew this wasn’t any pleasant meeting for both.
"would you like to order any drinks?"
The same woman asked.
"yes.. um what would Lee Min Wooshi like?"
Eric asked in bit of a mocking voice.
"I’ll just have coffee thank you."
"I’ll have the same."
After the woman left nobody said anything for a while. They both knew why they were there and they both had their own things to say. Both avoided meeting eyes. As well as conversation. The woman shortly returned with the drinks and placed each in front of Eric and Min Woo.
**** Mean while***
Ji Eun was bored as hell. Min Woo promised to come home early today but he wasn’t showing up. She tried cleaning the house, doing the dishes, reading magazines everything!!
‘hoo.. I’ll listen to some music… let’s see what kind of music Min Woo likes.’
Surprisingly there were a lot of different kinds of albums. She had never seen him listen to music, but he sure had a lot stacked up. There was a CD already placed inside the audio. When she turned the power on a song was already locked in repeat. She pressed on the play button and a soft ballad song filled the room. The title was "all for Love"
‘all for love?’
Ji Eun closed her eyes and drifted into a scene of drama as the song repeated it self… but it was alittle weird… Min Woo and she were the main characters.
"give you a kiss? No way! You’re gonna get me sick too. But I can sing you the song ofcourse… eh ham~"
Ji Eun was clearing her throat to sing the melodic song. Min Woo had disappointment on his face but closed his eyes to sentiment her song. Soon Ji Eun’s soft singing voice flew into the quiet room.
"... Ha nur urbo nyun na are soo it suh yo guh dae uh tuh gae ji nae shi nun ji……nae sang myung yi da ha nun nar gga ji do, na young won hee byul ur bo myu dda ra gar gguh ye yo...."
Min Woo slowly drifted in to his sleep. Ji Eun soon finished her song and stared into Min Woo’s face that had a faint smile on. Ji Eun leaned forward and kissed him on his lips. Ji Eun was crying. Her hot tears were flowing down her cheekbone lines.
‘what’s wrong with you Ji Eun! Get a grip… this isn’t like you, don’t get confused about who you are… you are not this weak…"
Ji Eun tried to stop the tears but her body had a mind of it’s own.
‘I’m sorry Min Woo… I’m so selfish… you don’t even know who I really am… you think I’m just a girl who is trying to go on with her life from the lost of her parents... but that’s true..
Ji Eun slowly opened her eyes back to the real world. She felt some thing wet dropping on to her hand. She held her hand up to her eyes but everything was blurry. She had tears whelmed up blocking her to see the reality.
"I’m the most feared killer in Korea… Myung Sung… Myung sung…"
She repeated the word to her self several times. She remembered… now she remembered… all she needed was a little clue like the flash back to make her remember again. She went into her room and spilled everything in her bag onto the bed. Documents poured out. All looked the same but different names and events… she remembered every each one of them. It was like a horrible nightmare…
******
"well…"
Min Woo started first.
"what did Myung Sung’s Eric Mun wanted to see me about?" Min Woo took the coffee toward his lips. The hot coffee burned his throat while sipping down, but he didn’t mind.
"you know exactly why. Give Yi Ji Eun back." Eric leaned closer to the table.
"now, now, Ji Eun is not some kind of toy you give and get. I don’t know what you have in mind, but I heard you were took care of Ji Eun while she had her memory lost." Min Woo tried hard to keep him self calm. Inside his heart was burning with fire of hatred. After all he was the head member of Myung Sung corp. that was soon to get his revenge.
"Taking her in as bate won’t do any good. Just give her back before things go any further. You should know that Jang Woo Hyuk is searching for Ji Eun incessantly. He would do anything that is necessary to get her back."
Eric stared straight into Min Woo’s eyes. He soon noticed the burning fire in his eyes turn into confusion.
"what are you talking about? Why would I take her in as a bate and why would Jang Woo Hyuk be looking for Ji Eun?"
Min Woo couldn’t understand anything. What did they have to do with Ji Eun?
"what do you mean? Don’t try to play mind games with me. I’m not a well educated person so don’t make me think too much. Also don’t take me as a fool, I may not have gotten the proper education, but I know well enough how this world goes around." Eric didn’t want to make this conversation as long as it was getting. The way Min Woo was twisting the conversation wasn’t satisfying him either.
"no I really don’t get what my fiancé has to do with you Myung Sung."
‘Fiancé?’ the word startled Eric for a moment.
"how can you not know who your fiancé is? Korea’s best killer Yi Ji Eun"
‘what? What is this crazy guy talking about? It was stressing enough that he called me out here.. and now what the hell is he saying?’ Min Woo was trying to figure things out during the few seconds of moment between the exchanges.
‘I did hear that there was a woman named Ji Eun in Myung Sung… the best killer… Ji Eun? No… she’s not the same Ji Eun as that woman he’s talking about.. there has to be a mix up…’
"I don’t know what you are thinking but you got the wrong Ji Eun. The person I’m with right now is my fiancé. She’s not a killer. I don’t know what you are trying to pull here with me, but if you want to live longer to see your own fiancé leave us alone. We’ll have our unpleasant meeting again soon or later."
He wanted to get out of here as soon as he can. He was having hard time breathing in this packed small café.
Eric didn’t want to lose her again. Not when he was so close. He wanted to know more about the relation between Min Woo and Ji Eun.
"I think we’re both having trouble understanding each other. Are you the one who visited Ji Eun’s apartment with her a few days ago?"
"how’d you know that? Could it be that… was it you keeping Ji Eun’s apartment on hold?"
"yes, it was me. why don’t we do this. From now on we are going to have this conversation as man to man. Not as enemies. Maybe then we’ll get things straighten out as both of us want it to."
Min Woo agreed to the offer.
"Ji Eun is a member of Myung Sung she was from long long ago and she still is. She’s… missing at the moment, but she is still a Myung Sung. She has been my partner for as long as we were both teenagers. But I don’t se her as my partner, only as love… I don’t know why I’m telling you all these useless things but that’s how bad I’m looking for her. And I will do anything to get her back."
Eric explained his side of the story in brief sentences. Min Woo thought he might have mistaken, but he saw the anxiety in his eyes while telling him the story.
"Well I don’t know why I’m telling you this either but my story goes this way, I had met Ji Eun along time ago too. We both fell for each other from the first sight. We had many things in common… as well as what I’ve just found out about… we got engaged short before she disappeared one day. When I found her she was staying with you. I didn’t recognize you during that time. Then I found her wondering the streets one day. It was from then that she stayed with me. Just incase you’d be curious she’s doing fine. But don’t even think about taking her away from me. I won’t let it happen." Min Woo knew he didn’t have to explain all this to the antagonist sitting in front of him. But he wanted to state and made sure he understood every each word of it. Min Woo clutched on to his pistol that was placed in his pocket. He held him self down from shooting this guys head off.
Eric couldn’t understand how Ji Eun was seeing this guy while she occupied her self in the mafia. How can a cold person like Ji Eun show love to a guy like Min Woo when she never even said anything warm to her long time partner? He didn’t want to believe Min Woo, but something told him it was true.
"I’m not going to take her right away… I’m not in the position any ways. Hoo hoo… right now I’m being chased, as well as Ji Eun. Jang Woo Hyuk found out Ji Eun had been staying with me and now he’s after both of us. I have my own place to stay, but when Ji Eun ran away… I was worried they caught her. But it was more shocking when I found out she was with you. I thought you captured her after finding out she was gonna kill you. But I guess I was wrong all along. I should have noticed when Ji Eun used to sneak out of Myung Sung by her self… and some times had those smirk on her face that I couldn’t figure out why… I was so happy when I found her after her disappearance. She had lost her memory and I wanted her to forget everything. I wanted her to have the normal life that every other woman had. So I lied to her I was her fiancé. And that she lived with me. But you showed up one day. And everything started breaking apart. Right now even if I do take her back I have no place to take her. She’s in too much of a danger. Jang Woo hyuk’s not only looking for her to take her back but she’ll get it from him if he finds her… so I’m gonna ask you a favor, take care of her.. until I get things straightened out."
Min Woo came across another confusion. It was bad enough that Eric told him Ji Eun was a member of his worst enemy, Myung Sung, now he was telling him Ji Eun tried to kill him.
"Ji Eun tried to kill me?"
"it was an assigned mission don’t be so heart broken." Eric shot back sarcastically.
"I get it though… why you’re still alive. She must have realized it was you before she pulled her trigger to your brain. Then she was chased by your men, and some how ended up in the mountains." Eric placed his hands inside his coat pocket. Min Woo didn’t know what kind of move Eric was about to make, so he held on to his pistol facing toward Eric. But not like he expected, Eric placed a sheet of document on the table.
"and this is?"
"take a look at it your self. It’s the document she dropped in my car.. probably before going off to meet you."
ASSINGED MISSION
On 2/17/99
Dae Jin Corp. supervisor (right hand man)
Lee Min Woo
Use any kind of weapon fit for situation.
Remuneration: 500man won ($5000)
Min Woo couldn’t believe his eyes. His name was printed black and white, clearly on the paper. Ji Eun? His Ji Eun?
"Well don’t worry it wasn’t Ji Eun’s intention. She probably didn’t even know. I know I don’t deserve to ask for so many favors but can you also keep this as a secret from Ji Eun? As I said before, I don’t want her going back to the life she had before."
"… well we’re not finished about this… but right now I have to be on my way back… May I be excused first?"
Min Woo slowly started getting ready to leave.
"sure. You can take this with you if you want." Eric pushed the sheet of paper toward Min Woo.
"Well then."
Min Woo excused him self from the table. Before going out Min Woo headed for the bathroom. He turned on the cold water and splashed his face few times. He leaned his both hands on the sink and raised his head to face him self in the mirror.
‘just when everything was getting better…’
Eric knew this was it. What ever he had planned for him self and Ji Eun was going to end here. Eric saw the love for Ji Eun in Min Woo. He realized she was already in good hands. Bringing her back into his life was only going to bring trouble and misery. He had to let her go now.
‘Eric, you stupid! Ji Eun doesn’t even know you are suffering so much for her. Even if she knew she wouldn’t care. She ran away even after what you have done for her. Don’t be stupid. There are so many other woman in this world…’
Eric took a sip of the cold coffee that sat at the table untouched.
‘but none like you… maybe… maybe we’ll meet again in the future. Just remember even if you don’t see me I’ll always be by your side watching over. I’ll be your secret guardian angel…’
Eric sat still expressionless. But there was one thing that showed his sadness. The tears that were streaming down his cheeks.
Min Woo was heading out the door toward his car.
‘what do I do in a situation like this…’
He took his last glance before passing by the big glass window. He stopped his pace from the unexpected moment. There were tears streaming down Eric’s face. He sat still with no expression but how was it that it showed such strong sadness?
‘is this the moment to great Eric break down into pieces? You tricked us with your perfect disguise. I still don’t favor you much…one day we will have to face each other again with guns pointing at each other’s head… but you really did love her didn’t you… When you think about it… we’re all the same. We were thrown into this lonely world to live with misery… at least I have Ji Eun to love… now I see… I see the desperate struggle in you trying to find the real meaning of love….’
****Part 18
~month later~
"Min Wooya how long has it been since we came out together to a park like this?"
Min Woo and Ji Eun both sat down on the near by bench of the park.
"well… I don’t know if you remember now… but it’s been quiet a while…"
Min Woo didn’t know but she remembered clearly, it was about a year and a half ago. Ji Eun’s memories were coming back little by little. Min Woo hasn’t found out yet, one of the killer’s best strategies was lying and hiding. Few days after she had realized who she really was she secretly had been carrying her pistol that was hid in her old apartment. She kept it safely on her body so Min Woo wouldn’t notice. But she knew she couldn’t hide any longer. She was going to tell him she was getting her memories back, but only that. She couldn’t tell him the whole truth, about her identity, and how she ended up that way.
"Min Woo ya it jan ah…"
"wha~~ Ji Eunna look it’s ice cream! Lets go and get some huh? come on!"
Min Woo was already pulling Ji Eun towards the ice cream cart. Just when she was about to make out her struggling words, "yea.. why not…"
"Ji Eunna mat it ji~ hehe I love chocolate ice cream."
While Ji Eun was taking little licks at a time, Min Woo took big bites down his stomach.
‘why did that damn thing have to come when I finally found the courage to tell him? Now I’m never gonna be able to say it..’
"Ji Eunna, that’s not the way to eat ice cream~ you make it look like your licking on some broccoli. I’ll show you how…"
Min Woo came closer and went for her ice cream cone. Ji Eun had no time to escape from his gesture and the ice cream ended up smudging all over her mouth.
"ah HAHAHA~!"
Min Woo was grabbing on to his stomach laughing his head off.
"ya nuh jook ul lae!!"
"Ah~ sorry sorry!!!" Min Woo ran off far away from the bench, when Ji Eun was getting ready to pay back her revenge.
"Ya~! You look like those clowns that juggle in the circuses! HaHa!"
"aish… I’ll be back. I’m gonna go to the bathroom and wash up. You just be prepared to have a beat down when I’m back!"
Ji Eun carefully wiped the ice cream off of her mouth and her shirt.
"Haha~ o.k. Don’t take too long alright?"
"I don’t know what I see in that…@!$#*@&…"
Min Woo watched Ji Eun try to cover her self up taking fast pace toward the bathroom.
"we should have times like this more often…"
Ji Eun went to the near by park bathroom but realized it was closed down when she got closer to it.
‘Damn it~ I’m gonna have to find another one…’
****
"nae, yu boe sae yo."
-Eric? Hoohoo how are you taking your rest?
Eric sat up in his seats. He was expecting a call from him but not this soon.
"yes, what do you want?"
-oh well I’m doing fine too…. How long do you think you can hide? I know you’ve been waiting for me to call some time soon…
"How does it feel to lose both of your bests? I’m just worried if things are going well with Myung Sung. It’s been quiet for quite a while… what kind of dirty scam are you planning?
Eric’s hatred raged as soon as he heard Jang Woo Hyuk’s voice.
-well… I didn’t lose both of you…
it made Eric jump to his feet. Did he find her?
-what’s a person like Lee Min Woo doing with Ji Eun? It couldn’t be possible that you had no idea about this… what kind of scam are you planning?
"if you lay a hand on her I will f*cking kill you!"
-well it was pleasant talking to you in such a long time. I’m kind of busy right now… I’m on my way to pick up my property…don’t think I’m gonna leave you alone for long… well then so long till then…
"NO! you leave her alone!"
The other line was dead already. He had to warn Min Woo and Ji Eun right away.
3..7..5..-0..7….
Ring~ Ring~
"Lee Min Woo im ni da~"
- nah da.
Min Woo’s face hardened as soon as he recognized the voice.
"yes, I’m listening."
-where are you right now?
‘why the hell is this guy asking where I am?’
"what does it matter to you? I’m outside."
Min Woo answered him anyways, it was nothing to lose.
-out side where?
"the park near my house.." Min Woo didn’t know why but he felt he had to answer.
-I’m on my way there right now. You have to get out. You’re with Ji Eun right? You have to get JI Eun out of there right away. And call your man out and make sure no one’s watching you."
Eric’s voice sounded urgent. Min Woo looked around to find any suspicion, but there was nothing.
"what’s going on? Is there something wrong?"
-Jang Woo Hyuk found out Ji Eun was with you. And he also found out where you are right now. He’s on the way there right now. I don’t care about you bastard, but if anything happens to Ji Eun I won’t forgive you!"
Min Woo slammed the phone shut. "shit! How did he know?" Min Woo looked around to find Ji Eun. She must be still in the bathroom.
Min Woo called the hwe sa to call out his man and at the same time anxiously looked towards the bathroom.
Jang Woo Hyuk drove into the park gate. There weren’t a lot of people around, which was better for him. Finding Ji Eun in an isolated place like this was going to be easier than stealing candy from a 3-year-old child. He was about to pass by the brown brick building that looked like the park public bathroom when he saw a woman with long straight hair walking out the door.
"stop the car."
Jang Woo hyuk signed to the driver and made sure she was the person he had been searching for the past year.
"hoo hoo… it is her." Woo Hyuk pulled on the lock handle and led him self out of the car.
Ji Eun had no idea what was coming for her in front of her. She was wiping the big stain of water that was covering over her shirt after the ice cream washed out.
"how long has it been... Remember who I am?"
Jang Woo Hyuk casually made his way towards Ji Eun. Ji Eun looked as if she was trying to figure out who this person was. Well that’s what Jang Woo Hyuk thought she was doing but the truth was, she was making sure it was the person she had expected to bump in to some day.
"noo goo…."
Ji Eun took a step back. And at the same time Jang Woo Hyuk took a step closer.
"it’s o.k.. come here."
Woo Hyuk reached his hand out to grab Ji Eun’s arms.
"ack~!"
Ji Eun screamed and pretended to shrink back while she reached for her pistol.
" sar ryu ju sae…."
Ji Eun twirled around before finishing her sentence, pointing the pistol right at Jang Woo Hyuk. He was startled by her moves. The only thing he was informed was that she had lost her memories and she couldn’t remember anything.
"so.. we finally meet again…"
The driver of the car got out quickly to defend Jang Woo Hyuk, but she made her shot quicker than his pace. The man dropped lifelessly on to the floor. Jang Woo hyuk saw the chance to take his pistol out but he should have never underestimated Ji Eun. She quickly turned her body and shot directly at his hand.
"Ahh!" Jang Woo Hyuk fell to his knees.
"I was hopping I didn’t have to use this… but as always you never give choices."
Ji Eun stared down at Jang Woo Hyuk’s face full of pain.
"Ji Eunna, what’s wrong with you? I wasn’t gonna harm you. You know me."
Jang Woo Hyuk’s attitude had changed during the few seconds. He’s confidant had disappeared into the thin air replaced by pleading.
" you’re not so strong now, are you? With out people dressed in black suit, protecting your ass everywhere you go… you’re nothing but a dirty garbage. I once respected you, but I was blinded… blinded by my own dirty life. And now that I try to start a new good life you show up again to ruin it?"
Ji Eun’s hand was trembling slightly.
"what.. what are you gonna do?"
Jang Woo Hyuk looked up at Ji Eun’s eyes. It made him feel the chill down his spine. It was the eyes of the true killer.
"Can’t you see? This is going to be the last thing you remember before your final breath."
"Ji Eun please! Let’s talk this out! I’ll give you anything! Car? House? money? anything!"
"Burn in hell Jang Woo Hyuk."
BANG~
The only thing Ji Eun was able to do was stare at Jang Woo Hyuk’s motionless body fall to the floor. Ji Eun couldn’t think, or move. She didn’t regret doing what she had done. But why was it that tears were streaming down her face? Why did she hear the loud laughter of Jang Woo Hyuk ring in her ears?.
Ji Eun heard footsteps coming towards her and the two dead body. Although she didn’t want Min Woo to know her real identity, she hoped it was Min Woo’s footsteps.
"Boss!" Ji Eun recognized his face. It was one of the guys that worked under Jang Woo Hyuk. The man ran up to the lifeless body and held it in his arms. He was shaking and screaming for him to wake up. His eyes rose up to Ji Eun and shot her a cold glance. For a moment it made Ji Eun jump slightly. If the man made any move it was going to be the end. Ji Eun couldn’t move a muscle, not even to defend her self. She begged in her mind for nothing to happen. But Ji Eun’s wish dissolved into the air that was mixed with the bitter smell of the blood. He pointed the gun towards Ji Eun.
"it was you wasn’t it? You killed him! I won’t let you get away with this!"
Ji Eun knew this was it for her. She closed her eyes tight.
‘Good… bye Min Woo…’
BANG!
A loud fire went off. Ji Eun bit her lips hard, it actually made it bleed. ‘I wonder how painful it would be… I bet more than when I got shot on my arm once..’ She waited for the pain to spread in her body. But she felt nothing, only the soaring pain on her lips. She slowly opened her eyes. But there was nothing there any more only another dead body laying in front of her.
"that was close"
Ji Eun turned to see where the voice was coming from. A young man about her age stood with the pistol in his hands. He was wearing all black it was hard to see his face from already darkening outside.
"who… are you?"
"I’m Shin Hye Sung. You must be Ji Eun right? I’ve heard of you before. It’s an honor to meet you. As a killer… and my friends fiancé."
"how did you know I was here?"
"I didn’t. I was ordered to keep an eye on Eric and I was tracking him down while he drove down here."
"Eric’s here?"
"yah… He went on driving deeper into the park, but I saw the car parked behind the tree and decided to take a look around. It’s a good thing I’m nosey. Haha"
Hye Sung scratched the back of his head.
"where was Eric heading to? Oh no… Min Woo…"
Ji Eun fastened the pistol on her waist and ran towards the deeper part of the wood.
"hey~! Wait for me!"
Hye sung followed her right away.
****part 19
Eric drove down to the park. He was getting nervous about facing Ji Eun once again. How long has it been? Eric took his hand toward the scar on his cheek, left by Ji Eun before she ran away from him. Eric had a lot to think about after his meeting with Min Woo. He didn’t want to deny it… he saw the undying love for Ji Eun inside Min Woo’s eyes that he also had him self. But the only difference between Min Woo and he was the love that came back from Ji Eun. He recalled back to the hotel few months ago when Ji Eun was sick laying on the bed. She called out to Min Woo saying sorry… He had some doubts back then, but he thought it was impossible. Too bad the reality had to show him wrong.
Why did he feel the uneasiness driving down there? Was it just because of facing Ji Eun once again? Or was there something else?… He remembered when he first found Ji Eun in the hospital. He never planned to bring her home with him or lie in the first place. But when he found out Ji Eun had amnesia, he thought this was the chance to give her the normal happy life…
and the chance for him to fulfill his own happy life…
He had arranged everything in order not to mess up the new life of Ji Eun and his. He visited Ji Eun’s apartment and brought some of her stuff to his house. But just incase he had arranged to keep the apartment the way it was and paid the woman monthly.
When she arrived to his house, he remembered he was so busy and caught up with other necessaries, he forgot to tell ahjumma about the situation…
The seat he sat Ji Eun the first day in his room wasn’t ‘her’ favorite spot, but his.
He was the one who sat there looking out the window alone …
Drinking tea alone…
listening to music alone… always alone…
He planned to take Ji Eun out of the country far, far away where no body was going to notice who they were.
But faith played it's harsh role and brought the reality back to Eric.
The life he had been living. The life for his only love... he thought it was time to let go...
The sun was now setting, the park was becoming darker and was being lighted by the streetlights. Eric saw Min Woo standing wondering around the parkways. There was no sign of Ji Eun around but an expression of anxiety on Min Woo’s face. Eric quickly got out of the car,
"hey where’s Ji Eun? Where is she? Why are you standing here alone?"
Min Woo finally realized it was Eric and anger filled his face. "Well she headed to the bathroom a while ago and she didn’t return yet. I went to pick her up from the bathroom, but I found out it was locked and she must have gone to another one. I can’t f*cking find her anywhere! If any of your man got her I’m gonna find her then kill you and everyone else! You understand?! If anything happens to her you’re dead!"
Min Woo was blowing up on Eric’s face.
"you’re f*cking telling me you’re gonna kill me if anything happens to her? I’ll kill you first if I found out if anything happened to her!" Eric grabbed on to the collar of Min Woo’s shirt.
"Ahhrg! You mother f*cker! You think I want anything to happen to her? Huh? Why!! why are you doing this to me! Myung Sung has done enough to tick me off!"
Min Woo was by now outraged and couldn’t control his anger. Min Woo pulled away from his grip and pointed his pistol at Eric’s head. Surprised by Min Woo’s move Eric also pointed the gun out.
"HaHaHa! You bastard! Do you know how long I have been waiting for this day? It doesn’t matter if you’re not Jang Woo Hyuk! All Myung Sung’s are the same. You f*cking cold blooded b*tchs… my whole life… I planned for this day. I’ve dedicated my life for this day! You Myung Sung’s took both of my parents away! Since the age of 10 I’ve thought about killing my self more than thousand times… I could’ve done it.. but you know what stopped me?! Ji Eun… my only hope for life! And now you’re trying to take her away too? F*ck you! I’ve lost my only blood few months ago and I’m not going to lose another loved one! Not by you people!"
Min Woo was shacking with anger. He had cold sweat rolling down his forehead. But something unexpected happened. Min Woo had projected Eric to blow up on him as well, but instead Eric’s next words startled Min Woo.
"If you’re gonna have to kill me that’s alright… maybe it’s something I’ve wanted from long time ago."
Min Woo gripped his pistol tight with his both hands to make it stop shaking.
"but… can you give me some time?… I have someone to say good bye to"
"good…bye?"
Eric nodded his head.
"to her… I have something to say to her… if I have to die… I really want to tell her…. I still have…. More to tell her…"
‘I can die right now… but there’s that one last thing I never got the chance to tell her…’
"Can’t you atleast consider that?…"
Min Woo didn’t know how to react at first, but...
"it’s a good thing you’re not giving me a hard time… but… I don’t have that kind of sympathy right now to let you do that… and we both know it’s better for Ji Eun not to know…. Everything will be better…. After you die… Eric Mun… all the miserable… and lonely life that you lived till now… I’ll end it for you… you'll be better up there... goodbye…"
Eric was slowly lowering his pistol down to the floor.
Hye Sung had arrived where Min Woo stood before Eric. He saw what was going on and ran closer.
He saw the pistol in Erics hand and mistakened him lower his pistol to raising it.
"Min Wooya!" Hye Sung pointed the gun at Eric’s heart. Startled by Hye Sung’s voice Eric instantaneously raised his pistol towards Hye Sung. Everything was happening so fast. Hye Sung made his shot clearly into Eric’s heart. Eric also pulled his trigger, but from the pain, his aim scattered and hit Hye Sung’s arm. Min Woo couldn’t help but open his mouth out of awe. Both killers fell excruciatingly on to the floor.
Their hair swiftly flying in the air…… the slowly falling of the two bodies like a snap shot…
Then there entered Ji Eun…. First she stood there and stared at Hye Sung on the floor with her big opened eyes. Hye Sung was grabbing on to his shoulders stopping the blood from flowing out. Min Woo quickly made his way towards Hye Sung. Ji Eun stood there staring as if to analyze what had just happened. A shade of cold gray passed by on Ji Eun’s face.
'he shot him...'
She turned her head toward where Eric had collapsed and ran towards him. Hye Sung was gonna be fine with Min Woo but what about Eric?
"Eric!"
Eric’s body laid motion less on the floor. Ji Eun felt her eyes wetting with tears. Ji Eun raised Eric’s body into hers and screamed at Eric with his eyes half opened.
"Eric! Wake up! Open your eyes!"
Eric slowly closed it then opened them back and looked up at Ji Eun. Surprisingly he was smiling. Even though his white shirt was soaking with blood covering Ji Eun’s hands as well, he was still smiling. Ji Eun couldn’t feel the tears.
"I’ve.. imagined… for a.. day.. like this…"
Eric whispered to Ji Eun. Ji Eun wanted to say something, but nothing was coming out of her mouth.
"Everytime I killed… I’ve imagined… this is how…. I was… gonna die… haha…. But who knew… it was gonna.. be.. today.."
Every word of it hurt Ji Eun’s heart. The person dying was Eric but how can her heart hurt so much…
"I was… never afraid of… dying… don’t cry… because of me…"
Ji Eun felt Eric’s life draining out of the body. Ji Eun continued to shed tears, the tears that hurt Eric more than the blood that was pouring out of his mouth. Eric didn’t miss one motion of Ji Eun’s reaction. The eyes that He longed for so long… the beautiful eyes…… that he longed to watch him… He wanted to remember those eyes so he won’t thirst for it after his death.
" I wanted… you to be happy… I knew… you could have been…. I wanted to.. protect you till the end…. I’m sorry. Because I have to… leave you first…"
"No, Eric!"
‘why do you have to go like this….. only if I showed up a little earlier… I could have prevented this.. then we wouldn’t have to be so sad…’
Eric’s legs and arms were stiffening. The eyelids were getting heavy and everything was turning bright white. Eric thought it was the streetlight blinding his eyes and reached out to Ji Eun’s face for the last time. Ji Eun with her last pity took his hand into hers and brought it to her face. Eric felt the tears on his fingertips. And he showed her his smile till the end.
‘From the first day I saw you….. and till now… I won’t forget… that I loved you…. More than my soul… I won’t forget you even after my death…. The love that I had for you…’
Eric was moving his mouth to say something but no sound came out. Ji Eun stared in to Eric’s eyes to figure out what he was trying to say.. but there was no more motion. Eric was still looking up at Ji Eun. A cold gust of wind blew by but Eric’s body laid lifeless. Ji Eun held him close to her body and shed tears endlessly.
It was later on when she finally realized someone was standing next to her.
"I’m sorry Ji Eun…"
It was Min Woo. He had a shade of pity drawn on his face.
"no… it’s my fault… I lied to all of you and this was the final result… I found out quite a while ago who I really was… I was too scared.. and I wanted to deny it… First I had lost my parents… then I killed the person who took me in when I was in need…. And now I’ve killed the person that loved me… I’m so scared… Min Woo... I don’t want to lose you too…"
Min Woo came closer and hugged her tight.
"none of this is you’re fault… none.."
He looked down at Eric’s dead body. He was the man Min Woo himself was supposed to kill. Even if he didn’t get to kill him on his own, he was dead… and Jang Woo Hyuk was dead…. His final revenge was done… but what was this sadness that he felt looking down at Eric?
*** Epilogue
*Late spring*
"So you’re really leaving huh~"
Dong Wan and Hye Sung stood facing Ji Eun and Min Woo.
"yup… Ji Eun and I… we want to leave the bad memories behind and start a new life. Don’t worry~ we’ll keep in contact and we’ll visit frequently."
Min Woo tapped both of his friends’ shoulders.
"Ji Eunshi, take good care of my good friend here, you two really look good together."
Ji Eun gave a smile as an answer.
"well, I’ll call you when I arrive... I guess it’s good bye now."
"ah~ don’t drag on this bye bye thing! Jal gah rah!"
Hye sung waved his arm that was free from the wound.
Ji Eun and Min Woo entered the gate and waved back to the two.
An hour had passed since the take-off.
Ji Eun had fallen a sleep. She thought she was having another nightmare…. It was the same one she had when she arrived at the hospital for the first time…
Ji Eun once again was walking down the street with the hood over her head the drizzling rain drenching her body. She peeked through her loose hair onto the street. It felt as if everyone was staring at her, to run after her and run her down.
She slid the hood off her head and the rain soaked through her hair. Her hair was still short and neatly in place. She looked around her. She was running away from something... once again...
Something she couldn't handle....
She started running....
Running to nowhere....
There was total darkness....
Nothing.. no one in sight....
And there it was again... the fear she had never felt in real life...
but soon… the fear disappeared.. and she felt the comfort… everything was turning bright white…
and far off in the bright light stood an angel... it was Eric. He had two magnificent wings on his back. He gently flew close to her. He was glowing bright silver. He gave his final kiss on her hand and smiled up at Ji Eun’s face. His eyes were telling her, ‘ I will always be here by you’re side as your guardian angel…’
Ji Eun smiled also… I’m sorry Eric…. When we meet again in the next world… lets not meet as strangers…
The time when you can love someone that also loves you…. Where there will be full of happiness…. and there would be no loneliness…. No one will get hurt… where all of us can smile for each other…. Then…lets meet again…
Min Woo turned his head towards Ji Eun. She was smiling so peacefully….
‘what is she smiling about?’
He didn’t know why…. But only hoped it would last forever…
