"Of Forgiveness and of Passion"
To quench my yearning to
Surrender,
To keep me out of the
Dungeon of my mind
And to provide me with the
Ultimate key;
You give me reason to believe
In the life that was bestowed upon me--
Yet you cast upon me an alternative form
Of poverty for me to fear.
Never before has my heart wondered
Why it was so alone.
My eyes never begged forgiveness
Of the others
Who inquire why I often fade
To the darkest of the earth's colors;
I never before asked for baskets filled with fruit-
Fruits of forgiveness and of passion;
But the past shall not be
Cast upon me in the hopes of destroying my heart.
It shall not affect the way I feel
When I first wake up and wonder
What this day will bring,
What new love will arise,
What ways you'll find to impress me,
And what we'll compromise.
