Something Like That (II)
8/30/01
-Something like that,
-Something like love
Is what's kept me alive,
My heart beating furiously
To gaze into your eyes
Simply having to feel more than
-Something like that-.
(That something being
Something not quite whole,
Something less significant
Than feelings when they're whole,
Something shy of
Love-
A word synonymous
With hate for so long,
A word taboo for my tongue-
A word unfamiliar
Though its spirit looms large
Over everything- something-
We have.)
And that Something
Has meant more to me
Than trillions of -somethings like that-s,
Than millions of -I think I love him-s,
Than thousands of -I miss you-s,
Than hundreds of -I wish you were here-s.
So I stretch out my
Something like that
So that we don't have to die
But rather thrive
In a world where Something
Does have a meaning
And where I can love you whole-
