SPOT.  This creature appeared in the "National 
Enquirer"'s offbeat 'My Dog Spot' [1975-83?].  A family pet trained to a leash, it was still nothing more than a living dog-spot.  Gags would revolve around the uninitiated doing double-takes when Spot posed as part of fabric patterns + the like.  I forget who did MDS, but it smells like vintage Gary Larson
