Venice. The low sun angle tells you that I didn't get there until fairly late.

Me, on a taxi in venice.

An ambulance, responding to a call.
127psrc.jpg
After my month in Vicenza, I headed back to Bosnia via Ramstein Germany. While waiting for my flight to Tuzla, I went to Neustadt for the New Wine Festival.

Inside a church in Neustadt, a beautiful Bavarian city.
129psrc.jpg 130psrc.jpg
The Germans really know how to have city festivals.
131psrc.jpg
Everything is closed except for the street vending and a few "necessary" stores.
132psrc.jpg
From what I saw, the Germans treat holidays as times to be with family and friends, not to go shopping!
133psrc.jpg 134psrc.jpg 135psrc.jpg 136psrc.jpg
Ah, back in Tuzla, the land of the mutant ninja turtles! Basically I was back to pack up and turn over my site to my relief.
138psrc.jpg
While getting ready to go home, I learned that the Navy was having trouble finding someone to be the OIC in Sarajevo. Since I now considered myself thoroughly trained, I volunteered for another 180 days!
139psrc.jpg
I left Tuzla through Germany again, then took a Navy C-9 to Naples via Sigonella. This is Mt Aetna out the window.
140psrc.jpg
Back in Naples, I had a weekend to explore the local area. This is along the coast just south of Naples.

After some briefings at HQ, I boarded the Greek C-130 for the flight to Sarajevo.

146psrc.jpg
At Sarajevo airport, the Ghanains were going home.
147psrc.jpg
The apartment buildings near the airport look abandoned at first sight, but the satelite dishes indicate they are occupied.
148psrc.jpg
You see blankets over holes blasted in the walls by artillery.
149psrc.jpg
This was one of the most contested areas of the city during the war.

The Newspaper building.

My predecessor, working hard to get things ready for me.
153psrc.jpg
We had moved to our new spaces inside the US National Intelligence Center. The spaces were more secure, but much more crowded.
154psrc.jpg
But at least I didn't have to sleep with the equipment this time.
155psrc.jpg
Once the aircraft arrives onstation, the solitaire game is put on hold.
156psrc.jpg
A Tech-rep with the BC2A system which shared our spaces.
158psrc.jpg
Workout facilities.
159psrc.jpg
The weight-room. I inherited the position of OIC, along with that came the position of lifting partner for the Marine Staff Sergent.
160psrc.jpg
Ping-pong at Echoes, the Dutch service support outfit.
161psrc.jpg
The Gift Shop in the Terme.
162psrc.jpg
The chow line in the Terme. There were several chow halls on the Ilidza base. All had good food.
