"I
let your good dreams pass on through, but bad dreams all I catch for you.
I will hold them fast till morning light, then let those bad dreams all
take flight."

Legend has it that all dreams are floating through the air during night searching for their destination. While sleeping under a dreamcatcher placed near the head, bad dreams are confused and get caught in the catcher´s web. The dreamcatcher holds them until the next day. All bad dreams perish in the morning light of the new day. But the good dreams know the way through the web and can easily slip through the center hole. They slide down the feathers and stones, taking on good energies from those objects. The good dreams can then enter the wise dreamer´s head, bringing the absorbed energy with them. |

Feathers
fastened to a dreamcatcher are doing the important job of showing the
good dreams to way to the dreamer and give them additional positive energy.
|
||
The
origin of the dreamcatcher is said to have taken place a long time ago
when a young Native American maiden was shown how a spider web was spun
in a dream. She was then shown how to weave a web into the first dreamcatcher
ever made. The maiden was told that this this object would be a special
way to catch bad dreams and to strengthen the connection between creation
(Mother Earth) and the spirit world.
|
Feathers
themselves also show up in many of our dreams. This dreamsymbol can mean
many different things depending on the dreamer and the situation they
are dreamed of. But the most common interpretations of dream-feathers
are those of feathers representing thoughts, messages, a victory or justice.

Medicine Wheels Some dreamcatcher are constructed to resemble medicine wheels and are also named after those ancient wheels. > The circle of the medicine wheel represents the never ending cycle of Life, with each section representing the four directions of Mother Earth. The center of the wheel is sometimes referred to as “The Creators Eye”. < - Holly Gilbey, Talking Feathers - |

Willow
or green branches and sinew are mostly used for the creation of dreamcatcher.
Stones, pearls and parts of animals are other favorite materials used
in the construction of the protector of dreams.
|
Modern
dreamcatcher come in all sizes and shapes and in many different styles
and colors. Of course all kinds of dreamcatcher can be bought via the
Internet. Sometimes even tailor-made objects will be made by the artists.
|

Meditation Shields The meditation shields made by the Featherlady look almost like dreamcatcher, but actually have a different structure and use. The hand-made shields are made to help focusing the concentration during meditatiton. The unique looks and touch of feathers have a smoothing effect on the meditative mind. Meditation shields are made out of leather upon which the each feather is placed manually to create a beautiful Mandella in the middle of the shield. Here is a wonderful quote from the Featherlady, Ronne Marino herself: "May my Healing Shields bring to you all that it has brought to me: prosperity, good health and happiness." |
